1. We Live in Different Places You may live in a big city or a small town. You may live in the country far from other people. The kind of place affects how you live.

In the city, you may walk or take a bus to the store. In the country, you may drive far to get to a store.

2. Places Have Different Water and Landforms You may live near the ocean or a river. These are bodies of water.

You may live in the hills or on the plains. These are landforms.

3. We Live in Places with Different Weather The weather in an area may be sunny or cloudy. It may be dry or rainy. It may even be snowy.

In most places, the weather changes during the year. It affects how we live. You may wear a coat when it snows. You may wear shorts on a hot day.

4. Where We Live Affects How We Travel The place where you live affects how you get around.

Someone in the city may ride a bus to work. Someone may drive a car across a bridge to see a friend. In a warm and sunny place, someone may bike to the park. How does your family get around where you live?
