"Literacy floats on a sea of talk" (Britton, 1970). Chatty Toolbox software unlocks vocabulary and language for children. At school, children need to understand and speak many words if they are going to learn well. "Children with less pre-school language experience start school with fewer words and learn words at a slower rate than peers. This "word gap" continues to grow and can only be overcome by early intervention and continued support during learning. Chatty Toolbox has been designed by Speech and Language Therapists alongside Education Specialists to help school staff and parents FIND and FIX language and vocabulary gaps so that children with a language-poor start or those with EAL, SLCN or SEND can catch-up and start to thrive.
Ways Chatty Learning can help your school
Our Chatty Toolbox software provides a whole school vocabulary tool for children from 3 years upwards as an essential language companion to phonics intervention and curriculum learning. Children become skilled readers when they engage language comprehension alongside phonics and decoding. Use our software with the whole class, specific groups or 1:1 to support children with SEND, SLCN, EAL or those with poor language experience. Chatty Toolbox is an easy-to-use, complete solution providing everything needed for screening and intervention meaning your staff and parents are all set to make a difference. With data-driven baselines you can show progress over time and be able to monitor a child’s language-learning journey. Our “Chatty Buddy” scheme is another idea which means you can engage older pupils (Y5 & Y6) to use our interactive software in supporting younger and less word-wise children further developing your whole-school approach to vocabulary. Join our growing and nationwide community of Chatty schools (60+) and our team will support you along the way offering training and best-practise ideas. Use Chatty Software to help children find their voice so that they can build relationships, feel good and unlock language barriers to learning.

Why we like it “Fonetti provides stability, continuity and independence for children.. They can just go off and read and you know they are getting a quality experience. We like it because kids simply love to read out loud on Fonetti, and that goes a long way to fostering a love for reading and enhancing reading and language skills. Data shows that 74% of children that read on Fonetti regularly improve in at least one reading metric including accuracy and/or words read correctly per minute. Fonetti is the 2024 BETT Awards winner for Classroom Aid and Educator Support. Fonetti is the innovative technology powering the National Read Aloud Challenge, designed to tackle summer reading regression. It has successfully nurtured a passion for reading in thousands of children during the summer break, a period not typically associated with reading progress.
Ways Fonetti can help your school At a time when reading engagement is at an all time low and educators are facing challenges in fostering children's reading habits outside school. Fonetti, the read-aloud app, offers a fresh approach to encourage more reading and bridge the school-home connection seamlessly. In the Fonetti app, children read aloud. Correctly read words turn green, while mistakes fade to grey. A double tap gives hints for tough words, offering instant feedback and rewards. Children read independently on Fonetti and therefore allowing daily intervention rather than waiting for an adult to be free. The Fonetti School Portal aids teachers with AI insights on class and individual reading data. It spots where a child struggles and where help is needed, empowering educators to give targeted support.Fonetti works by using proprietary, patented automatic speech recognition technology developed with the University of Edinburgh's support. It's trained to understand complex reading patterns and a growing variety of accents.

Literacy Gold
At a glance: 6-14 years. Price: £799+VAT per school (Complete package - Discounts available)
Why we like it “The impact on our pupils has been very impressive, with most pupils making significant improvements in reading. More importantly they have enjoyed the intervention and are more confident and engaged in the classroom. The children have all said that they look forward to the sessions each day and are rightly very proud of their progress.” Alan Bartlett Assistant Head Canada Hill Primary School, Newton Abbot
Product Category: Reading intervention
Find out more at: www.literacygold.co.uk
Literacy Gold is an online catch-up reading intervention that gets impressive results. On average, reading improves by 12 months in just one term of playing. Minimum adult supervision is required; multiple pupils can play at once. Literacy Gold is easy to administer – no training is required. Placement tests start pupils on the right level, and children are automatically moved up or down levels. The clear dashboard makes monitoring pupils easy. Downloadable reports show engagement and how much progress pupils are making. We love that from the teacher dashboard, you can listen to recordings pupils made of themselves, which means you can listen to them read without taking them out of class and you have evidence of their progress.
Ways Literacy Gold can help your school
Literacy Gold improves literacy by addressing two underlying key skills needed to read: Eye Control and Phonological Awareness. Struggling readers often cannot track smoothly across the page, their eyes wobble when they read, so they reverse letters, skip lines and words or have poor comprehension. Literacy Gold is the only intervention that includes a 3d computer game to strengthen eye muscles, which stops eyes wobbling and improves tracking across the page. Another problem struggling readers have is poor phonological awareness; they can’t hear individual sounds in words. They can’t hear that ‘goat’ contains three sounds. Activities such as ‘what rhymes with?’, ‘what starts with?’, and ‘how do you turn ‘goat’ into ‘boat’?’, improve phonological awareness, enabling pupils to use phonics to read. Once they’ve mastered those two key skills, their reading age, fluency and comprehension usually take off. Literacy Gold is a complete catch-up reading intervention. Pupils read, write, listen, and record themselves reading. Spaced repetition ensures knowledge is retained. Literacy Gold is visually uncluttered, multi-sensory and is suitable for all struggling readers, including those with SEND and EAL pupils. Suitable for all struggling readers - Literacy Gold teaches reading and spelling, and includes a dyslexia screener.
