(2) the live calculation of Nikon ophthalmic lenses. This computer keeps in memory all of the Nikon lens designs and in using frame measurements, fitting parameters and prescription, it is able to create a design optimized for each of these elements.

Unlike some other design engines, the Nikon Optical Design Engine works with an infinite loop which will keep running on iterative improvement loops until it reaches a fully optimized design. This process can take up to 5 minutes vs 3-4 days for some older engines.
