Alongside adventures in and around Brighton, our programme takes children further afield to discover some of Britain’s most famous cities, landmarks and universities. A highlight is our Saturday excursion when pupils can choose to explore London, Oxford or Cambridge to visit world-leading universities. Where possible, pupils will also meet Old Brightonians studying there, hearing first-hand about university life and the exciting opportunities that could lie ahead.
The Brighton College Experience For two weeks, Summer School pupils become part of the Brighton College community, experiencing some of the traditions and values that make life here so special. Make A Difference Kindness is at the heart of Brighton College. Through our Make a Difference Day, pupils work together on projects that benefit the local community and environment, discovering how small actions can make a big impact. Boarding
For many children, boarding is one of the most memorable parts of their Brighton College Summer School experience. It is where friendships are made, stories are shared and a busy day ends surrounded by new friends. Our boarding houses are warm, welcoming places where pupils can relax and feel at home. Children share rooms with others of a similar age and the same gender.

Parents can feel confident that their child is in experienced hands. Brighton College has secure access, 24-hour security and dedicated residential staff, with clear routines and supervision throughout the day and night. Our Health Centre provides 24-hour medical support, and pupils also have dedicated time each day to keep in touch with home.
Everything You Need to Know How are pupils grouped in the Summer School? Brighton College Summer School has two age groups: Junior: ages 9 to 12 Senior: ages 13 to 15 If your child is close to the age boundary, don’t worry. Our Admissions Team will consider their age, current school year and the group in which we believe they will be happiest and most confident. What level of English does my child need? We recommend an intermediate level of English, approximately B1+ or equivalent, for children joining Brighton College Summer School. Our lessons are lively and interactive, so children should be comfortable speaking and understanding English well enough to join discussions, work as part of a team and enjoy the full summer school experience. All applicants will take part in an interview as part of the admissions process. For children who do not speak English as their first language, English proficiency will also be assessed during the interview to ensure they are able to participate confidently in lessons, activities and the wider summer school experience.
When do admissions close? We operate a rolling admissions process, and applications will remain open until all places have been filled. As places are limited and the programme may reach capacity before the deadline, we encourage families to apply early to secure their place and avoid disappointment. Can I sign up more than one child? Absolutely! We also offer a 5% sibling discount for a second or subsequent child, when two or more siblings are offered places at our Summer School at the same time. Can you help my child with a visa to attend the Summer School? We will be pleased to provide a Study Support Letter once all enrolment requirements have been completed, which can be used to support your child’s visa application. We encourage families to check that all required documentation has been submitted and that the appropriate visa or travel authorisation is in place before travelling to the UK. For the latest guidance and requirements, please visit: www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa.
Are airport transfers from London included? Yes. Staff-escorted airport transfers from London Gatwick and London Heathrow are included in the Summer School Fee on our designated arrival and departure days. Brighton is particularly convenient for international families, with Gatwick Airport approximately 30 minutes away and Heathrow around one hour away. Families should book flights on the official arrival date of 11 July 2027 and departure date of 24 July 2027 within the arranged transfer times. If your child’s flight falls outside these times, please contact our Admissions Team. We may be able to arrange an individual transfer for an additional charge. What is boarding like at Brighton College Summer School? For many boys and girls, living in a Brighton College boarding house is one of the most exciting parts of their summer. Pupils usually share rooms with between two and four children of a similar age and the same gender. Wherever possible, international pupils are placed with children who speak different first languages, helping everyone mix, make new friends and speak English naturally throughout the day. Our boarding houses are warm, friendly communities where pupils can relax together at the end of a busy day and quickly feel at home.
13
What medical care is available? Brighton College has its own Health Centre, supported by qualified medical professionals and trained first-aiders, with support available 24 hours a day. If your child has an existing medical condition, allergy or requires regular medication, our team will ask for full details before arrival so that the appropriate support can be put in place. What meals are provided, and can dietary requirements be accommodated? All meals and refreshments are included in the Summer School Fee. Brighton College can accommodate a wide range of dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher and food allergies. Please let us know of any dietary needs when completing your child’s Acceptance Form. Can parents visit during the programme? We encourage pupils to fully immerse themselves in the Summer School experience, as this helps them settle in quickly, build friendships and make the most of all that is on offer. However, we understand that families may wish to spend time with their child during the programme. Parents are welcome to request a visit with at least 48 hours’ notice, and we will do our best to accommodate arrangements where possible.
14
Parents may also request permission for their child to miss one of the weekend excursions (17 or 18 July) should they wish to make alternative plans together. What is the policy on mobile phones, and how can parents contact their child during the programme? In line with Brighton College’s wider approach, pupils will have access to their phones during designated periods: • A pproximately 30 minutes between afternoon activities and dinner • A pproximately 30 minutes after evening activities and before bedtime Each boarding house also has a central telephone that pupils can use with staff assistance should they wish to contact home. Parents are welcome to contact the Summer School team at any time via our central telephone number or email address, and we can facilitate calls with pupils whenever needed. Is laundry provided on site? Yes. Laundry is provided on site and will be collected several times each week, washed and returned to pupils. We simply ask that pupils bring a suitable laundry bag. Is pocket money needed? If so, how much would you recommend? Pocket money is entirely optional, as all meals, activities and excursions included within the Summer School Fee are
covered. However, pupils often enjoy purchasing souvenirs or refreshments during excursion days, and we would suggest approximately £100 to £200 per pupil for the two-week programme. Will I receive feedback on my child’s progress? Yes. At the end of their two weeks at Brighton College, every child receives an official Brighton College Summer School Certificate of Achievement, together with a written academic progress report and feedback from their boarding team. Parents will have a wonderful opportunity to see what pupils have achieved at our final Speech Day and Graduation Ceremony, when attendees share their work and we celebrate everything they have accomplished during their time with us. Can the Summer School help us explore future entry to Brighton College? Yes. Families interested in a future Brighton College education will have the opportunity to find out more during the Summer School. Boys and girls can choose to complete exploratory academic assessments based on the style and standard of Brighton College and Sixth Form entrance assessments. Parents will receive individual feedback, and those who would like to explore future admission to Brighton College can speak to our Admissions Team about the most appropriate next steps.
