Dear members, There’s something about the fall season that is simply unparalleled. Perhaps its all the activities that come with Autumn – watching the leaves change to vibrant shades of red and gold, apple picking, trick-or-treating and Thanksgiving baking – just to name a few. Or perhaps its because the temperature has been perfect to close out the season making it ideal to do all the great activities we love here at Ocean Edge. There is still opportunity to play a round of golf, our courts are still set up for Tennis & Pickleball, even getting out for a bike ride. Whatever the activity is we are happy to be a part of your Autumnal activities! In discussing Autumn, please mark your calendar to set your clock back one hour Sunday November 5th giving you all one extra hour of rest! This means that the days will be shorter and as we journey through November the nights and days will become cooler so break out those sweaters and stay warm. The team and I have already begun forming our 2024 season of events. We plan to have this completed and posted to all of you come the beginning of next year. In meeting with the Advisory Board and Social Committee we are listening to you and want to bring back some favorite events from prior year. Starting November, we will be having Thursday night trivia in Bayzo’s pub, so form your teams and get your thinking caps on. Additionally, be on the lookout for more fall/winter upcoming social events while viewing the website or opening your new member mobile app that will go live in November. With the upcoming holiday season approaching we have many things to be thankful for – our families, our health, our friends and all the Ocean Edge has to offer. We want to wish all of you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving and we look forward to creating many more memories thought this winter and into next season. Thank you all for allowing me the opportunity to be your Club Manager. Please do not hesitate to let me or any of our team know how we can improve your membership experience. Feel free to contact me as I continue to address your concerns and wants to improve upon the Club here at Ocean Edge. I can be reached best via email at Stephan.Harrington@oceanedge.com or by phone at 571-278-2860. Thank you for all the feedback and I will continue with my efforts in improving! See you around the Club or to start the next season!

Dear Ocean Edge Club Members, Welcome to the holiday season at the Club! It is amazing how the Summer and Fall seasons have gone by and now we are on the brink of a most wonderful time of year. May I wish you and your families a very happy and healthy holiday season. Hopefully, we will have many of our Club Members and families on Cape to enjoy the upcoming events at the Club and to share time with friends. Thanksgiving is a special time and truly a blessed occasion when shared with family. Our culinary team has prepared a spectacular feast for those who are attending in person. However, there is also a great take-away option that Chef Phil and Chef Tim have prepared to take the stress out of the day! There have been a few additions to the holiday celebrations this year for the Club, with a Bubbles & Brunch with Santa, Sunday, December 3rd, which is a great opportunity to share with the entire family. Then on Saturday, December 9th, there is the Member Holiday Reception in the Ballroom. This is meant to be a more casual, cocktail party with heavy hors d’ oeuvres, geared more towards mingling with your fellow Members to celebrate the season. Hopefully too we will be able to welcome our newest Members to the Ocean Edge Club: Matthew & Colette Dahlberg, new Ocean Edge homeowners in Eaton Village. Kate Collins and Family, Orleans residents and friends of Nancy & Jim Case Amy Waltch & Alan Motch, year-round Truro residents Sydne & Brandon Goller, new Ocean Edge homeowners in Billington. It is always great to welcome our newest members to the Club and to thank all of you for being a part of Ocean Edge. We’ve had a wonderful season in welcoming our newest members and a special thank you for all of our members who continue to introduce their friends to the Club! Happy Holidays and Best Wishes,
Michael Medeiros

Dear Members, The Ocean Edge Member Advisory Board works closely with Ocean Edge and Troon management to provide insight into the needs and priorities of the membership. This includes all aspects of the club including sports (tennis, pickleball, fitness center, pools), golf (operations and course management), food and beverage (the consistency of food offerings, service, and facilities) and the creation of a vibrant member social calendar throughout the year. Check out the minutes of the 2023 monthly meetings on the Ocean Edge member website to see the broad range of topics and recommendations. The minutes are accessed from the Member Home Page under Member Resources and Documents on the left side of the page. You will also find an application to join the Member Advisory Board. There are a total of 9 board members. There are several members who are leaving the board at the end of April 2024 due to the term limit. We need some volunteers to step up and serve their club. We have strong representation from Golf members on the board and want to be sure Sports and Beach members also have a strong voice in club decision making. The board meets on the second Saturday of the month from 8am till 10:30am. The meetings are in person during the months of April-November and online (via Zoom) in February and March. Each board member is asked to serve on a subcommittee; Golf, Sports, Social or Communications. The term is 3 years. Please feel free to reach out to me or any of the board members if you have questions and want to discuss your participation. Hoping to hear from you.

Cape Cod is known for their great fall golf seasons. That great fall weather has allowed the Agronomy team to knock off more projects this fall. The two low spots on the 7th fairway have been addressed. After years of this area settling, we removed the turf and brought in sandy fill to help raise the area level to the surrounding fairway. The sandy fill was compacted to try and reduce the chance of the area resettling. We then topped off with loam for a good growing medium for the sod. Bentgrass sod was then laid. This is a huge improvement to this area.
The steep hillside access to the 14th green was improved with the addition of some granite steps to help soften the steep slope. All the bare soil areas had loam and sod added to put a nice finishing touch to the project. As we get closer to the end of the golf season we hope you take advantage of the great weather to get in a few more rounds this season. We look forward to seeing you on the course!

Dear Members, As we head into November and start thinking about that Thanksgiving turkey, do not forget the golf course is still open and in great condition. The wet and warm weather in October has allowed the course greens to heal nicely from aeration and is a perfect time to get in your last rounds on the season. Get out and make a Birdie or Eagle before you dive into your Holiday feasts. You can also take advantage of the Troon Prive Program to play other Troon courses located in better winter weather. Head to (Troonprive.com) to get started and request your tee times at some great venues whether you’re traveling or near your home away from the Cape. It is a great value, and we encourage you to take full advantage of the program. If you have any questions about the reciprocal program email Shayne for help. With Christmas closely approaching you may be starting to look for that perfect gift for yourself or loved ones. Always know the golf shop can place special orders and have them drop shipped to your house. We have accounts with all the major club manufacturers if you’re in the market for new clubs. Also, we can order apparel from our vendors in the perfect size, color and style. When you find the right item you’ve been looking for email Shayne to get it ordered. Don’t forget, you still receive your 15%-member discount even if you’re not at the club. Don’t delay start looking today. I am always here if you have any questions, call (774-323-6200) or email me (shaynesakson@oceanedge.com).

Dear Ocean Edge Members, Hello from the MSC! Lately the question that I am asked is “how do I keep from getting injured if I want to get stronger or more flexible?” Overused and overtrained muscles keep us from doing the activities we love. Not all injuries are preventable, but these recommendations can certainly reduce the risk. Warm Up Every workout should begin with a warm-up. It prepares the body for exercise by increasing heart rate and improving blood flow to skeletal muscles which can prevent injury. Stretch Static stretches (holding each position for 10-30 secs) or dynamic stretches (moving the body through a functional range of motion) will help prepare the muscles, joints, and tendons for work by allowing them to move through a full active range of motion without restriction. Progress Properly Start your workout slowly. Try not to do too much, too fast to avoid excessive muscle soreness and tightness. Over time, slowly increase the amount and intensity of the workout. Cool Down So many people forget this portion of the workout. It helps safely bring the body, heart rate, and muscles back to their resting state. Listen to Your Body Don’t ignore aches and pains in joints or muscles that do not improve in 24-48 hours. These could be signs that a more serious injury is developing. Rest and Recover Rest is critical to avoiding injury and seeing gains in your training program. You cannot get stronger or more flexible without allowing your body time to heal and recover. Rest days should occur at least 1-2 times per week. You can choose to use one of your rest days as an active recovery day where, for instance, you take a gentle yoga class or Tai Chi class. Follow a Healthy Diet The best complement to a true injury prevention plan is a healthy diet consisting of whole foods with adequate amounts of the macronutrients: protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Hydration is equally important and should be maintained before, during, and after your workouts using water and electrolytes.
