May is a wonderful month as we gear up for summer and it is a great time to enjoy the many Club events taking place throughout the coming weeks The Town of Brewster also has a lot to offer! As many of you are aware, Ocean Edge Resort & Club has always been a big supporter for many of the initiatives within the Town, and in particular the Chamber of Commerce
The “Brewster In Bloom” events over the weekend has been a perfect way to enjoy the many offerings for our community as well. A special thanks to our F&B Team for their “kick-off” events for not only the Club Member, but for the Brewster Township as well. It was great to see so many members at the “Taste Of Ocean Edge” event, which was met with rave reviews! But, also catching up with many members at the Brewster In Bloom activities Thank you
May also marks the start of the many weekly socials and events. Starting with the Friday Dettore Quota Golf Tournament on May 9th. This is a weekly Men’s golf event with an 8:30 am shotgun start Our Ladies kick-off their season on May 13th with the OEWGA Opening Coffee followed by golf. Then start the Friday Nights at the Linx on the 16th!
Tennis and Pickleball is already active as Jim and Todd have been hosting many clinics, round robins and weekly events. Add these events into the array of upcoming socials, including Mother’s Day on May 11th, our traditional Memorial Day Clambake on May 24th, and the weekly Ice Cream Socials at the Member Sports Club on May 25th There is something to do almost every day at the Club!

As we continue to enjoy another great season on the course, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone of a few simple responsibilities we all share during a round of golf. These small actions go a long way in protecting course conditions and enhancing everyone ' s experience.
Ball Mark Repair: Each golfer should repair their own
ball mark and, when possible, one additional mark on every green. Properly repaired ball marks help maintain smooth, healthy putting surfaces. If left unattended, ball marks can take weeks to heal and impact playability.
Bunker Care: After playing from a bunker, please rake the area you disturbed, as well as any nearby footprints When raking:
Push or pull the sand gently toward the center from the edges without digging too deeply Leave a smooth, even surface for the next player After raking, place the rake outside the bunker on the low end with the handle facing toward the tee, where appropriate
Divot Repair: In fairways, fill divots with the sand mix provided on carts If no mix is available, replace the turf if the divot is intact. Quick divot repair helps turf recover faster and keeps the playing surface uniform.
Pace of Play: Please keep pace with the group ahead of you, not just ahead of the group behind you. Ready golf, efficient cart use, and timely decision-making help ensure everyone enjoys a smooth round.

Get Ready for Memorial Day this month and the Official Opening of the summer season on Cape Cod. We are eagerly awaiting the warmer temps to arrive, we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the golf course with family and friends as the temps warm up and Cape begins to blossom.
Our season is underway this month with our OEMGA and OEWGA associations starting May 9 and May 13 respectively th th Look for other sign-ups like the Nahass Match Play, 4-Ball Match play events on the men ’ s calendar and the ladies calendar featuring bring-a-friend and opening day. May is upon us and we ’ re very enthused about both tennis and pickleball this season. All adult programs have started, and we suggest you reach out to Jim or Todd to confirm attendance until after Memorial Day weekend
We're pleased to announce Nat Boughton will join us as an assistant pickleball pro and shop attendant to boost the program. Sam Majewski is back as the first assistant tennis pro beginning Memorial Day weekend. We also have a great staff of qualified J1 students in both sports.

May 22nd - MIXED DOUBLES PICKLEBALL SOCIAL 4:30 - 6:00 at Blueberry Pond. The first two weeks are complimentary to generate interest, and a food and beverage component will be added in June. This program will run through Labor Day, alternating the two sports.

This is our favorite time of year. You can feel the activity levels around Ocean Edge picking up and all the venues are starting to open The MSC pool and hot tub are getting ready to open and there will be new food and drink offerings in our lounge this
year. For those of you looking for a more private space to stretch or work out, our Fletcher Tennis shop is the perfect place. It was remodeled with an open floor plan with cardio equipment and free weights. Conveniently located right next to Fletcher Indoor and Outdoor pool it is a great alternative if you are looking for a quieter experience and more space for stretching Check it out!
Did you know that May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month? The weather is perfect to grab a racquet for pickleball or tennis. The bike trail activity is still relatively quiet so take that trip to Orleans or Chatham right from the MSC. If you plan on doing an activity for more than 45 minutes, eating potassium rich fruits an hour before you exercise will give you energy and reduce the number of muscle cramps later in the day or night. Great options are oranges, bananas, grapefruit, raisins or honeydew.

TOMATO AND BLACK BEAN QUINOA SALAD
A light healthy corn, tomato, and black bean quinoa salad. This recipe takes less than 30 minutes to make and is both vegan and gluten free.
INGREDIENTS
1/2cupquinoa
1cupwater
1cupcorn
1cupblack beans, rinsed and drained
1/2cuptomatoes,diced 2tbspolive oil
2tbsplime juice
2tbspcilantro,chopped
1/4cupred onion, diced salt and pepper, to taste
DIRECTIONS
1.Combine quinoa and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer and cook for about 10-15 minutes until water is absorbed.
2.Meanwhile, add corn, beans, tomatoes, olive oil, lime juice, cilantro and red onion to a large bowl. Add cooked quinoa and toss to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
