Happy July Fourth Week! I hope you all have had the opportunity to enjoy time with friends and family throughout the holiday week. The Membership Services Desk has been busy reprinting membership cards for many of our new and returning Members If you have misplaced your card or in need of a new card, please stop by the desk, Samantha and Alisa will be happy to assist
Presenting your card is an important part of maintaining our Club integrity and will help the new staff in providing you with proper Member recognition Specifically, accessing the Beach Bar will require you to show your membership card at point of entry There is an attendant at the top of the beach entry that will check for membership cards and resort cards to access the Beach Bar. Only Club Members, accompanied guests of Members, and Resort Guests will be able to enjoy the Beach Bar. This has been a beneficial policy for the Club and will continue to be enforced to maintain this venue as a private entity. We wish for all of our Club Members ease of access to enjoy the fabulous Beach Bar!
The same holds true for all of our Club facilities, Arbor Pool and the Shark Bah!, Member Sports Club, Blueberry Pond Recreation and Pickleball, are all areas within the Club that can peak demand, so having your Membership credentials is an important part of our ability to manage the Club for your and your family
The summer socials have started off strong and we look forward to keeping that momentum throughout the season. I have received wonderful feedback from many new members on how these socials have been beneficial in creating new relationships. Our social schedule is an only one way to introduce you to our newest members. Each month, Samantha welcomes our newest members to the Club through the Club website If you see a connection, such as hometown, local affiliation, ages of the children, etc , please reach out to build that connection

We recently experienced a significant heat wave here at the club, with temperatures reaching 98°F on Monday
Combined with our ongoing drought, these conditions put tremendous stress on the golf course, particularly the greens, tees, and fairways
You may notice areas on the turf looking dry despite our irrigation efforts. This is because when soil repeatedly dries out, it becomes hydrophobic, meaning it repels water instead of allowing it to soak in.
As a result, water can run off the surface rather than penetrating down to the roots where the grass needs it most To combat this, we must supplement our irrigation system with targeted hand watering of Localized Dry Spots (LDS) to ensure moisture reaches deeper into the soil profile, helping the turf recover and remain healthy
It’s also important to note that irrigation systems, while helpful, are not as efficient as one might think during extreme heat and drought. Wind, evaporation, and hydrophobic conditions reduce the effectiveness of overhead irrigation, making our hand-watering efforts critical to the health of the playing surfaces
Moss on Greens: You may have noticed areas of moss on some greens This did not appear overnight; moss develops over time in areas of weak turf, often due to excessive moisture, shade, or compaction. We have been actively working to remove moss and strengthen the turf in these areas. We are pleased to report that we have already reduced moss presence by 30%, and we will continue our efforts to restore these areas to healthy, dense turf
Wetlands Restoration Update: We completed planting over 370 additional native wetland plants, bringing our total to 640 This will help restore and enhance the ecology of our wetland areas while adding beauty to the course Early July, we will complete planting beach grass in the area in front of hole 8, transforming that space into a native, low-maintenance buffer area that ties into our broader sustainability goals. Member Reminders As we continue to navigate these challenging weather conditions and work to improve the course, we kindly remind everyone of the role you play in maintaining playing conditions:
Repair your ball marks, and please take a moment to repair one additional mark you see on each green.
Fill your divots on tees and fairways
Rake bunkers properly after use, leaving them smooth for the next golfer
Keep all four tires on the cart path when parking, especially near greens and tees
Your partnership in these small actions makes a big difference, especially during challenging weather.

We love July here at MSC This year we are especially excited about our new lounge bar and staff! The menu expanded to offer a variety of Giffords ice cream, breakfast options, espressos, lattes etc.,

Yoga on the beach has started and the MSC fitness classes continue to be well attended. Please remember to sign up for our studio classes to ensure you get a space.
Fitness class spotlight: 15/15/15 Mondays at 4:30pm. This class is an interval style with specific segments or cardio, weights, core work and stretching. All levels welcome!

INGREDIENTS
2cans (14 ounces each) black-eyed peas, rinsed and drained, or3 cupscooked black-eyed peas
1can (14 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained, or1 ½
cupscooked black beans
1 ½ cupsfresh or defrosted frozen corn kernels (about 2 ears of corn), or 1 can (14 ounces) corn, drained
1 ½ cupschopped ripe tomatoes (about¾pound)
1medium red, orange or yellow bell pepper, chopped
¾ cupchopped red onion (about½small red onion)
½ cupchopped cilantro, leaves and stems
1to2jalapeños, ribs removed, seeded and finely chopped 1avocado (optional)
Italian dressing
⅓ cupolive oil
3 tablespoonsred wine vinegar or lime juice
2medium cloves garlic, pressed or minced
1to1 ½teaspoons salt, to taste
1 teaspoondried oregano
½ teaspoondried basil
1 teaspoonmaple syrup or honey
⅛ teaspoonred pepper flakes
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1.In a large serving bowl, combine the drained black-eyed peas, black beans, corn, chopped tomatoes, bell pepper, onion, cilantro and jalapeño. If you’ll be including avocado, wait to dice it until you’re ready to serve the dip, so it doesn’t turn brown in the meantime.
2.In a cup, whisk together the dressing ingredients until well blended. Drizzle the dressing over the serving bowl and toss until well mixed. Season to taste with additional salt and pepper. If you’d like the salad to have more of a pickled flavor, add another tablespoon of vinegar, or for more richness, add another tablespoon or two of olive oil.
3.For best flavor, let the mixture marinate for at least 20 minutes before serving. If you’re adding avocado, mix it in just before serving.
