Living On The Edge

July 2020

Club Manager Message Dear Ocean Edge Club Members, Per the Governor’s reopening plan for the State of Massachusetts, on Monday, July 6, 2020, we will begin Phase III of the reopening plan for the State. With that, I would like to update you on how this will impact Club operations. Please note that our goal and intent, is to open each facility safely, following strict protocols and open at a pace that makes operational sense. Adherence to all State and Local guidelines is of utmost importance and under no circumstances can we allow anyone to do otherwise. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we prepare for Monday’s Phase III, Part 1 opening. Effective July 6, Fitness Facilities and Indoor Pools are permitted to open under strict restrictions. Please refer to the Fitness News update in this newsletter for the specific restrictions. With respect to golf, no significant changes to the operations. With the ability to place two bags on a golf cart, while maintaining a single rider for the cart, it will help alleviate the golf cart turnover, therefore we encourage anyone who would like to avail themselves of this opportunity to please notify the golf shop at time of registration. Welcome to Phase III of Massachusetts reopening plan. I hope you find this update informative as we prepare for Monday, July 6. All other operations that are currently in place, will remain in effect as they are today. I would like to thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation in maintaining these standards as we safely operate our Club facilities. We will be closely monitoring each venue and tailor each operation to maintain best practices and protocols for your enjoyment and safety. Thank you and stay safe, Sincerely, Michael Medeiros Club Manager

Advisory Board News Dear Members, I hope this note finds you all healthy and having fun even under the strangest environment any of us has ever seen! I would like to introduce our three new Advisory Board members, who like all of us on the Board, are here to help Membership any way we possibly can. The three new board members are Jill Cosgrove, Marguerite Duesel and Karen Lacouture. Karen will also chair the Communications Committee, with Rosemary O’Reilly chairing the Activities Committee and Gail Scudellari chairing the Golf Committee. I would also like to welcome on behalf of Membership the many new managers on board this year at our Club, including Craig Sullivan in Agronomy, Emma Haselton in Member Relations and Communications, Jessie Getlik in Activities and Fun, Ryan Lynch as the Linx Tavern Manager and Chef Cooper Board as the Executive Chef of the Linx. Finally, a special shout out to some of the folks that kept our Club running, once allowed, during the very difficult months of April through today. We are still under many restrictions, but continue to expand all facilities and activities as the State allows. The grass never stops growing so Craig Sullivan and his team did great work caring for our course during this time. Heidi VanAmburgh kept us all exercising with her strenuous but fun Zoom classes. Brett Gilmore literally did the work of three once golf was able to open and made it possible for as many as possible to enjoy golfing. Many thanks also to Emma Haselton for jumping in so often and in so many areas to fill the voids caused by staffing restrictions! Lastly, thanks to both Ryan Lynch and Chef Bogard for feeding my family and many others with delicious takeout meals during this difficult time. They have also put in countless hours planning the new menus and staffing guidelines for the Linx. If you have not tried the new menu please do so because the Linx is going to be a special place this season. All the very best to all. Be safe! Have fun!! Craig Mance

Member Relations & Communications As we head into July and a beautiful Summer season on Cape Cod, it is my goal to make sure all of our Ocean Edge Members have a memorable time. With everything we have experienced so far this year, memorable is probably an understatement. For those of you who have already made it to the Clubhouse, you have seen by now that I am at the front desk to assist with any of your membership questions or even just give a friendly hello. In the short time I have been here, I feel like I have already developed strong connections with many of you. From sharing laughs about trying to put masked faces to names to getting to know your family members and friends, I hope you have all enjoyed the time we have spent together thus far. On a communications note, I’d like to bring everyone’s attention to our newly reinstated weekly communication updates. Each week Golf Members can expect to receive a Golf update via email on Wednesday, and all Members can expect to receive a Club Operations update via email on Friday. These updates will continue through the season. As always, please feel free to reach out or stop by the Membership desk. I look forward to meeting more of you through this month.

Sincerely, Emma Haselton Member Relations & Communications Manager

Agronomy News Our staff is turning their attention to projects and detail items. We continue with prune our overgrown cart path edges. With cart paths throughout the golf course it will take us significant time to prune all of the over hanging branches and brush from interfering with golf cart traffic. We have also made it a point to send multiple team members to fill tee divots. This will have us keep up with the divots that are not replaced on tees. With the number of rounds being played on the property, it is imperative we try to stay on top of divot recovery. Hope everyone is getting out to enjoy the golf course.

Sincerely, Craig Sullivan Golf Course Superintendent
