2022 YEAR END REVIEW

SPONSORS

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

At BCAGlobal, looking back on the work we have accomplished this past year, we have a lot to be grateful for and much to appreciate

While support for our work continues to grow through grants and sponsorship, we have also seen advancement through the building of relationships This has resulted in successful site-specific programming both locally and internationally As our name reflects - act local, think global The last two years have shown a high-level return on investment for all our partners and collaborators, and we are very proud of this significant milestone for BCAGlobal

It has been nearly three decades since BCA began, and we want to thank all our sponsors and supporters who continue to believe in our mission We are proud to be the first organization to create a platform for food, race, and social justice, using a racial equity lens and bring this to the forefront of the culinary space.

The COVID pandemic brought us many teachable moments Without question, those with the most impact have centered on food insecurity, food justice, community well-being, the social determinants of health, environmental conditions, and the ever-alluding question of "How does the racial equity lens fit into all of this? How do we include environmental justice and climate change in the work we are doing?” BCAGlobal’s response continues to focus on our core program, “Mindful Eating for the Beloved Community” We are especially excited about the new and expanded partnerships we established this past year which include:

· CVS-AETNA

Doordash

The NIH (National Institute of Health) and NNLM (Network of the National Library of Medicine)

The intersection of industry and community wellness meeting culinary arts is a very powerful framework that helps every individual and family, especially in underserved and marginalized areas I encourage everyone to continue to support the BCA’s mission and support the organization in whatever way you can We have a proven track record in making a difference in the hearts, minds, and lives of the people we serve and will continue to serve.

As we remember the past, we are determined to reach a more positive future I encourage everyone to take the time to ponder, contemplate and move towards action to bring sustainable change to form a Beloved Community for all.

Thank you so much for continuing to support BCAGlobal and its important mission Regards, Alex Askew President, BCAGlobal

MINDFUL EATING FOR THE BELOVED COMMUNITY

Mindful Eating for the Beloved Community, also known as MEBC, is a national platform to promote awareness and inspire dialogue about the past and present impact of food in our lives. A healthy and whole body, mind, and spirit lead to increased productivity, better home-work environments, and increased morale for people of all ages. Food is a powerful force in healing and bringing people from all backgrounds together for the common good of the beloved community

This program explores mindful eating methods, connects health with career success, helps produce positive, more inclusive work environments, and fosters leadership and social accountability for role models and mentors.

FOOD EQUITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE

Food justice is synonymous with social justice. BCA encourages learning experiences within the framework of hospitality/culinary training and industry relationships in order to better understand the systems that impede equity in the food space.

Understanding the systemic challenges to food justice, equity, and diversity in the food space creates opportunities to address these challenges and further a vision of beloved community.
