Staff Spotlight David Green, Individual Giving Manager

Hi, I’m David, the Individual Giving Manager here at the Trust. I have been in post since early May 2022, and my remit is to look after the individual donations from our amazing and loyal supporters (that’s you, by the way!) including membership and gifts in Wills. I was the Membership Manager for Essex Wildlife Trust for over 6 years, and with the changes to working patterns caused by the pandemic, I was able to broaden my skillset, and my horizons, to the West Midlands.

Before settling on a career within conservation, I worked for nearly three years in a different type of fundraising called ‘incentivised giving,’ doing daily administration for a large hospice lottery. Before that, I worked for a large international finance company, the NHS, and have even served a stint on the checkouts for one of the big supermarket chains. I have three dogs, two are husky crossbreeds, and one is a purebred. When I’m not walking them or working, I also serve on the board of a hospital radio station. I like to keep busy! I love being a part of the Wildlife Trust movement – there are 46 Trusts across the UK, so there hasn’t been a question that’s come up where no-one knows the answer. More importantly, however, I couldn’t do my job without the support of my amazing team: Wendy and Kezia are Donor Support Officers and John is our Membership Volunteer. It’s a really exciting time to be a part of Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust. We’ve recently launched our strategy to take us through to 2030 and one of our targets is that 1 in 4 of us will be taking action for wildlife. So I can only ask you, if you’re able, to consider signing up for Wild Walk Week, holding a birthday fundraiser on Facebook, or consider leaving a gift in your Will. I hope that, over time, I will have the opportunity to meet some of you.
