In both cases, my mission was focused on providing security for coalition forces and aid and support for local populations. My time overseas was filled with moments of hardship and danger but also moments of joy when we could help those who needed it most However, those experiences left me struggling with PTSD, which affected my personal and professional life when it came time for me to transition out of the military after 15 years of service
Taking on challenges as an entrepreneur
I served with the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team from 2003-2018. During this time, I was deployed two times; once to Afghanistan in 2006 and once to Iraq in 2009.
When I decided to open up my 3D printing business here in Sacramento, I knew that there would be challenges ahead that could be difficult for me due to my mental health issues. However, rather than let these struggles stop me from achieving success in the business world, I decided to use them as motivation instead! Although plenty of days are still challenging at times dealing with depression and anxiety-related issues stemming from my military service while trying to run a small business they have taught me how important it is to reach out for help when needed so that you can focus on your goals without being held back by your mental health struggles
Advocating for mental health
In addition to focusing on growing my 3D printing business here in Sacramento, I also make sure to dedicate some time each week to advocating for better mental health services among veterans like myself who need accessible care after returning home from their deployments overseas or elsewhere. Social media campaigns like #mentalhealthmatters, speaking engagements, panel discussions, or even just talking one-on-one with others going through similar experiences helps spread awareness about how important it is to seek out help and provide an outlet for others looking for support during tough times. These activities help raise awareness and provide additional inspiration during those tough days when running a small business overwhelms you.
Being an Army infantry veteran has been one of the most challenging experiences I have ever faced physical dangers abroad combined with mental health struggles upon returning home put me through some tough times. But having gone through all this has made me realize how important it is not only to seek out professional help if needed but also to talk openly about our mental health journeys so that we can inspire others facing similar struggles. It is why now, more than ever, I'm excited about taking these challenges head-on as an entrepreneur here in Sacramento Not only because it allows me to create something meaningful with 3D printing technology but also because serving other veterans is very close to my heart. And together, we can ensure no one goes through their journey alone! By leveraging our collective power, we can create positive community changes! Enjoying every moment along this journey – let's go!
