Junior year is a year of fun and enjoyment. After long and hard work these girls have become upperclass women and moved right on up to the third floor. After two months of adjusting, the juniors have their ring ceremony.

This symbolizes the importance of the class ring and the unity of the class, Then, to prove the juniors new, high status, they are invited to the crystal with the seniors. These women finally graduate from as­ signed study, and are free to roam the campus.

When the year fi­ nally ends ail you can say is '4 CAN’T WAIT TO BE A SENIOR!”

Our mothers do so much for us as we grow up. The least they deserve would be a banquet in their honor. The mother­ daughter brunch is a spe­ cial time in our high school years to recognize the person who has helped us grow into who we are today. 1994 SEMI-FORMAL As the sophomores crossed through the doors of the gymna­ sium, they came into a world of cranberry and creme colored balloons.

They danced the night away to their theme “And When She Danced.” Memories were made and pictures were taken, but the night never seemed to end. The queen and her court lead the last of the evening’s dances as the semi came to a close and the memories entrusted.

This anticipated night finally came for the junior class on May 20, 1994. Girls dressed up, became nerv­ ous, were picked up by their dates, and then finally arrived at the Inn at the Crossings. Some got a little intimidated when they realized that before they could enter the ballroom they had to introduce their date to the administration of Bay View. All wore smiles mixed with excitement and happiness. Cameras snapped all night long capturing the beauty of the class of 1995 and their escorts. Everyone found at least a little romance while dancing beneath the stars with their date to the theme song '"Wink and a Smile.” The junior class shared wonderful memories on this night that shall remain in their hearts forever.

CRYSTAL BALL January 13, 1995 was the night of the Bay View Crystal Ball sponsored by the Student Council. At the Alpine Country Club many juniors and seniors had a night they’ll never forget.

AMJNEiSTY INTERNATIONAL Amnesty International, a club started a few years ago at Bay View, strives to raise awareness of human rights vio­ lations around the world and bring the human rights issues to the forefront. Members write letters in hopes of pressuring political leaders and heads of government to free prisoners of conscience. Events this year in­ cluded the annual write-a-thon, mock abductions and various fundraisers (such as the for­ tune cookie sale).

BLACK HISTORY Black History is a committee which celebrates black history, accomplishments, and culture.

This group was formed five years ago and from the begin­ ning both hard work and dedi­ cation were put into it. Not only does this committee cele­ brate black history, but they also project awareness throughout Bay View by mes­ sages, displays, and most of all, their assembly. This is pre­ sented to the school during the month of February, and it is a clear representation of all the hard work.

The journalism class is firing up the presses as the Bay View Blaze returns for a second year.

Under the direction of Mrs. Boulet, the students are spoken to by radio and T.V. personali­ ties, and learn about the uses of sluglines, sidebars and cut-off tests. Whether they are writing articles doing layout or creat­ ing headlines, the seniors and juniors on the staff are blazing their way into the future.

The Latin club has had a fresh start this year. The culture of ancient Rome has been studied (did you know that Nero fiddled while Rome burned, or that the Forum was the center of living?). Among the activities planned are Christmas sing-alongs, in Latin, of course, and meet­ ings concerning the Latin exam, which takes place in March.

LITERARY MAGAZINE Zoe, Bay View’s Liter­ ary magazine, now in its eighth year of publication, gives students the chance to express themselves through the written word.

Bay View’s Mock trial team puts in long hours learning and practicing the very difficult concept of law. This team com­ petes against other schools from Rhode Island in three tri­ als, and pushes toward their goal of making it to the Mock Trial State Championship.

MODEL LEGISLATURE Model legislature helps stu­ dents to become aware of cur­ rent events in the political sys­ tem as well as giving them the opportunity to take political stands on issues of importance to them. Members write and present bills at the State House during a mock session of Con­ gress in April. The club enlight­ ens citizens of the future and molds the leaders of tomorrow.

MULTI-CULTURAL The Multi-Cultural Club is designed to open minds to different cul­ tures and people. Its main goal is to increase our awareness of the unique differences in cultures that make each one very special. They do this by openly discussing their own culture and tradi­ tions within their fami­ lies. The Multi-Cultural Club has also shared their gifts by adopting a child in a third world country.

This group of girls are all hoping that one day the world will be aware and accepting of the differ­ ences between people.

The members of the Na­ tional Honor Society have shown their academic ex­ cellence throughout their high school years. Part of the requirement for this special honor is having certain qualities. These include good character, leadership, and service.

Through fundraisers such as candy and bake sales, they hope to raise enough money to buy pins to wear on the uniform skirts, both for this and next year’s members, as well as donating a considerable amount to a charity. As always they are ready to give their time to students who need academic help, through the Peer Tutoring program.

PEER MINISTERS Under the direction of Mrs. Wrobel and Mrs. Rainville, the Peer Ministers are a gi'oup of young women who help stu­ dents find their spirituality.

These seniors and juniors or­ ganize masses and liturgies and assist the directors with re­ treats. Their warm friendliness helps newcomers adjust to Bay View and definitely makes a difference for the better of our school.

SADD CLUB Students Against Drunk Driving is an organization that is very active in the Bay View Community. The club put on a play, The Game of Life, this year to teach Bay View stu­ dents about the dangers of teenage drinking. Dead day, when members of the club dress up in black and do not speak, has a profound effect on students, as they can easily re­ alize how wrong it is to drive under the influence, from see­ ing their friends acting as though they were dead.

Picture it, you are up above everyone else, as you look down your adren­ aline starts to pump, you get a rush anticipating the route you will take on the steep trail below you.

You bend your knees and as you dig your poles in to the icy ground you hear the crunch of snow, and your off! Once you reach the bottom you have one of two choices, either go­ ing back up for another try, or visiting Mrs. McGrath in the lodge.

SPANISH CLUB -n

The Spanish club is com­ posed of members who are cur­ rently enrolled in Spanish clas­ ses. At their meetings this lan­ guage is used, and they often attempt to conduct the entire meeting in Spanish. They plan to have a Spanish meal at a restaurant, and are working to brush up on the vocabulary for Spanish food so they will un­ derstand the menu.

Bayview’s Bandstand was a great success and a spectacular event. Not only did the Bayview players and Mrs. Kavanagh pull off another fantastic performance but Manhattan night was a tre­ mendous success for the entire school. The entire production was a spectacle of enjoyment and the action never stopped. To all who helped whether it was with Cabaret or the Manhattan night, thank you!

DRAMA FESTIVAL The Bay View Players earned top honors at the R.L Drama Festival for the second year in a row with an original produc­ tion entitled "The Subject Is Women.” The collection of monologues, poetry and choral readings, co-directed by Christine Kavanagh and Karen Candelmo, spotlighted the lives of women their trials and triumphs. The cast took the show to the New England Drama Festival where they received a spe­ cial ensemble award for this moving piece of thea­ ter. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew for these powerful perfor­ mances! Bay View theater is top notch.

The 1994 Bay View soccer team had a great season. They won a few, and lost a few, but they played their best and had fun. They are a closeknit team, and support each other off as well as on the field. With this kind of spirit they came one game out of the playoffs. They look for­ ward to the next season with hope for a lot less injuries, and a shot in the playoffs.

TENNIS The 1994 Bay View tennis team had an exiting season this year. Captains Joy Fox, Amy Marcello, Jill Bentz and Meggen Chabot led their team to an 8-8 record. The team was very relaxed this year as well as unified, and these characteristics made the 1994 season a good one.

CROSS COUNTRY The cross country team ran through another season under the direction of the new coach, Coach Bob Bayha. Through running miles and miles they built up their stamina and did very well in competing. SOFTBALL The softball team had a great season last year.

Through tough times they were able to stay together as a skilled and talented group of softball players.

At the end they had more than five All-Division awards. The members of the team are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the next season, and believe that success and champi­ onship is on its way!

The Bay View volleyball team? Division C State Champs? Fairy Tale? I think not. This past season has been the best ever. With a great team effort the Bangles finish the season with a blast. They made it to the State Championships. The team easily captured the first two sets against their op­ ponents, Hope High School, but tensions grew as Hope defeated them in the next two sets. In the final fifth set the Bangles united strong and fought back hard. The team has certainly turned themselves around. After their victory when senior Jill Bentz was asked, “You’ve just won the Division C State Championship, what are you gonna do now?” She responded.

The 1994 Bay View Outdoor track team had a great season under the direction of Coach Grant. They ran, jumped, and threw hard, and did extremely well after having changed coaches during the year. The team members are very supportive of each other, and can be heard cheering each other on. As they look forward to the next season, they know that each member can be proud of their contribution to the team.

SWIMMING The Bay View swim team had a successful year. Though it is a young team these bengals competed as if they were upperclassmen. The an­ nual Bay View Invitational at CCRI was also a success. The team, along with many of their parents did a wonderful job planning the event. In the coming years this team is sure to be even better!

This group of girls work hard through fall, winter, spring, and even summer to do their ultimate best with cheerleading. The Bay View group of cheer­ leaders is known for their excellent talents and of course their spirit!

Great World of Sports

Nineteen ninety four saw us through a very trying year in sports. Beginning with the winter Olympics in Lillehammer and the whole Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding controversy and continuing into World Cup Soccer and the trial of football great OJ Simpson (not to mention the never-ending baseball strike and hockey lock-out and heavyweight champion George Foreman) there was always something interesting to follow.
