A GUIDE for ACTIVE seNIORS IN BAYSIDE

Bayside Council supports seniors to access activities that support their wellbeing and continued participation in, and contribution to, the social and economic life of the community.

Senior citizens centres and groups, are run from local venues by seniors who volunteer their time to offer a range of activities such as:

 Senior centres where people can meet and socialise

 Health and fitness programs and activities

 Socialisation and learning based classes

 Interest and language based get togethers

Bayside’s welcoming seniors citizens centres offer a range of activities for older people in Bayside. New members are always welcome. For more information, contact your nearest centre.

Ramsgate Senior Citizens Centre

Keeping active for seniors is essential for our physical and psychological wellbeing. Ramsgate Senior Citizens Centre provides opportunities for social interaction with likeminded people.

Activities Include

Cards and rummikub, craft, fitness exercise, meditation, scrabble, tai chi, social garden group, table tennis and yoga.

A long-established centre for seniors which provides members with opportunities to participate in social, mental and physical recreational activities in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Mascot Seniors Centre

A long-established seniors that offers social support, and activities such as chair yoga, indoor bowls, tai chi, line dancing and organised outings.

Activities Include

Health and Fitness

Finding an exercise-based activity to keep you fit and active is important at all ages, whether you’re interested in fitness, strength and balance, or gentle exercise, there is something for you in Bayside. The following groups provide local health and fitness services for older people.

Dance That Walk - Exercise Group

Keep fit with Zumba dancing. An exercise groups full of fun and modern music. Show off your talents at regular performances. Enrolment essential.

Walking Football (Soccer) @ Bayside

Walking Football NSW runs a weekly game designed for older adults and those with limited physical abilities to participate in a regular activity with physical and social benefits. It is a mixed gender game that involves passing the ball while walking. Go along to the field and have a look or take your boots and join in on a game.

Lakes Singers Choir

The Lakes Singers Choir is a friendly group that welcomes seniors to join the fun and spread the joy of singing. There are no auditions and no previous experience required.

Sing Your Heart Out Choir is an inclusive, joyful community choir in Bayside which brings seniors together to share their love of singing. Seniors can be part of a group of people that supports each other and provides stimulation and enjoyment in a vibrant and lively environment.
