Baylor’s faculty are leaders in their field and are devoted to their craft. They also serve as advisers, regularly interacting with students, and they are known for being demanding yet deeply supportive of our students in and out of the classroom. 38 faculty members live on campus, forming a strong adult support system for the boarding students.

Baylor constantly challenges students to look beyond the gates of the school to consider the impact they can have on the community and world around them. The Global and Civic Scholars programs utilize international exchanges, advanced world language studies, and workshops in civic engagement to help students create digital portfolios for college admission.

The Baylor Research Program allows students with a passion for the sciences to move beyond the traditional study of chemistry, biology, and engineering to an independent study track. Students are guided by Ph.D. faculty mentors who are conducting university-level research in biomedical test organisms, aquatic biology, virtual reality, and more.

The program is supported with a $15 million endowment.

COLLEGE COUNSELING As a college preparatory school, Baylor is very focused on outcomes. Four fulltime college counselors advise students on their post-secondary options. Their work is reflected in the number of Baylor acceptances to highly selective schools around the world.

The Cartter Scholars Program provides multiple boarding awards annually, from partial to full tuition. Finalists participate in Cartter Scholars Weekend March 4 - 5, 2022.

The Jo Conn Guild Awards honor outstanding day students. All scholarships are for new Baylor students and are provided throughout their Baylor careers.

Baylor awards more than $6 million each year to families for whom a private school education is beyond financial reach. Approximately one-third of Baylor families qualify for assistance, and Baylor is able to meet, on average, 75% of their demonstrated need.

ATHLETICS Athletics, whether playing or cheering for them – are intrinsic to the Baylor experience. MaxPreps selected Baylor as one of the top three athletic programs in the country, and our performance proves it.

The Arts pervade the Baylor campus. Theater, music and dance, painting, drawing, sculpture, pottery, and photography are all available. We put on a variety of staged productions – indoors and out: plays and musicals, choir concerts, orchestra and dance performances, skit nights, and talent shows.

Community Service is the largest extracurricular activity on campus. Though led by an adult director, a leadership board composed of veteran student volunteers organizes and implements the program, assisted by other student site leaders at each community center. The program culminates with a leadership trip to Jamaica to work with senior citizens, orphans, and homeless populations.
