design PHILOSOPHY

When designing a product or space, you engage in a delicate dance of controlling life and actions, and consequently, thought and mental state. Yes, design is a dangerous tool, but it's also poetic; it's a love letter the designer sends to the user. Is light male or female? I would say it's female for me. It's not easy to understand, but when you do, it opens a whole world to you.

The world of numen

Welcome to the enchanting realm of Numen, a captivating world defined by four distinct vertical tiers: Foundation, Earth Level (ground level), Sky Level, and Paradise Level. As visitors journey through these levels, they embark on an immersive adventure illuminated by light, each tier delicately weaving a narrative of emotion and wonder. From the sturdy Foundation Level to the earthly Ground Level, where the laws of physics guide light from above, to the magical sensations experienced in Paradise, beginning with the Sky as a gateway, Numen invites explorers to explore its intricacies and revelations. Begin an adventure where light and story intertwine, inviting you to discover the essence of each level and revealing the captivating design of Numen.

Concept The world of numen*

*Numen noun

Latin noun. The term refers to each of the gods of classical mythology, it encompasses the sense of the holy or sacred and immanence that was in all place and objects for the Roman religion. It relates to the Roman deities, and their desires, their will, their power.

In crafting an ambiance of solidity and strength, the essence lies in highlighting the architectural fundamentals. Emphasizing the structural elements such as columns and arches, one can evoke a sense of grandeur and stability. Employing grazing light strategically accentuates the rough textures, adding depth and character to the structure.

Wall-grazing techniques, achieved through linear uplights, artfully mimic the majestic colonnades, infusing the space with a timeless elegance. For a touch of theatricality, dramatic backlighting illuminates the Neptune statue, casting an aura that reflects his formidable powers and unwavering strength. In concert, these techniques weave a narrative of structure and foundation, elevating the space into a realm where history and artistry converge.

OBSERVATIONS

The initial idea of the concept began with the observation of the behavior of the frescoes and their pigments in interaction with the light. For this the exercise the lights directed to the ceiling fresco were turned off, the result was a revitalization of the blue tones in the painting, compared to the desaturated tone that was achieved by illuminating it with the existing artificial lighting.

The first idea was to reinforce the shade of blue, as it simulated the entrance of the heavens into the space and then added to the idea, to be able to simulate the daylight that would naturally enter through this opening in the ceiling.

There is today a village that welcomes a community that lives in peace after years of being a victim of human power. It is still standing, demonstrating that even if the past, or the world is chaotic, we can still stand firm and evolve.

REBIRTH.

The outdoor lighting design for Farfa Borgo, based on the metaphor of rebirth, can be a creative process that seeks to capture the essence of history and highlight the majesty of the complex.

The borgo can become a powerful tool to visually tell its story of rebirth and resilience. By highlighting its structure, enhancing its architecture and showcasing its splendor and strength, the lighting design can create a unique and memorable experience for visitors, inspiring them to reflect on their own potential to be reborn and overcome life's challenges.

Step into the immersive narrative of rebirth, where every visitor becomes the protagonist, navigating through the emotional odyssey of renewal. Crafted akin to a meticulously scripted movie, this experience envelopes you in the essence of transformation. As you journey through the highs and lows, light becomes the storyteller, illuminating the resilience woven within the fabric of this village. It's a tale of overcoming, a testament to the human spirit's enduring strength.

Eye Adaptation Visitor’s Tour Visual Experience

The visitor tour experience is built on the eye adaptation to the light. The tour starts on the really dark black walls of the entrance corridor to the presentation area. When the visitor finishes the tour his eye will be comfortably adapted to the brightest scenario of the space.

Renovation and expansion of existing building for inclusion of new production activity and residence in Monza

The concept is taking from the architectural idea of the building that resembles a ship of its proportions and edginess Creating a customized luminaire for this luxurious client with its movement distribution within the open space residence giving a unique identity. The installation gives a feeling of a huge chandelier dancing through the space. The Luminaire resembles a ship sail of its structure and installation system
