Base tax unpopular with LSSD
Staff Living Sky School Division Board of Education members raised their concerns about the City of North Battleford’s base tax to two area MLAs at a board meeting last week. Cut-Knife Turtleford MLA Larry Doke and Biggar MLA Randy
Weekes listened to board members describe the base tax, which will apply to previously tax exempt properties such as schools, amounts to double taxation. Board officials vow to take legal measures if such a tax is imposed. A letter from Mayor Ian Hamilton has stated the tax will not be applied in 2015. For more turn to Page 11.

Ride Across Canada
Reigning Riders 4-H Club members had an encounter with participants in the Communities for Veterans Ride Across Canada during the Battlefords Agricultural Society Regional 4-H Show and Sale at the exhibition grounds in June. That encounter included an informative presentation to the 4-Hers and evolved into an evening of shared laughter, dance and music.
