Incarcerated Battlefords News-Optimist/Regional Optimist editor Becky Doig looks a tad forlorn as she gazes out of her cell at the Battlefords Animal Shelter. Doig was abruptly arrested along with eight other upstanding Battlefords citizens late Tuesday afternoon. The nine spent three hours in separate dog cages at the shelter during the Battlefords Humane Society second annual jail and bail fundraising promotion. Shelter manager Michelle Spark says the promotion raised about $13,000 for the organization’s Shelter Us campaign to replace the aging shelter building.
