Grand Slam comes to NB
Staff Curling fans have been glued to the TV since 2012, following Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling. In 2017, Saskatchewan fans, and particularly those in the Northwest, will have the opportunity to watch the action live. The Twin Rivers Curling Club has won the bid to host a Pinty’s event in January next year, with the Civic Centre as the venue
for the action. Grand Slam hosts the top 15 men’s and women’s curling teams in Canada in a triple-round knock out tournament. Organizers say the Civic Centre is a perfect venue for the tournament because of the generous seating and ability to accommodate the filming crews. The seating may be plentiful, but stay tuned for a chance to get a ticket. They will be a hot item. For more turn to Pages 6 and 14.

Giant games were featured at NationsWest Field House as one element of this week’s Winter-Tainment activities in the Battlefords. Featured were several large versions of familiar games such as checkers, Jenga, Kerplunk and others. Friday the Allen Sapp Gallery is inviting the public to take part in decorating the gallery with ice lantern crafts. There is also drop in curling at Northland Power Curling Centre. Events will wrap up Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the CUplex Rotary Plaza, featuring games, hot chocolate and hot dogs. For more information check out the City Bulletin on Page 2.
