This year the Battlefords Quarter Horse Club is teaming up with the animal shelter. The Hooves ‘n Paws Halloween Parade is slated to take place on Halloween Day, beginning at 1 p.m. More details can be found on Page 3. Last week was Fire
Prevention Week and North Battleford Fire Department hosted a number of activities to promote the theme of “Hear the beep where you sleep.” The week’s activities included the annual smokey on a bun lunch to raise money for the burn fund. More on Page 13.
Blood Moon Anand George captured this dramatic image of the Blood Moon that occurred Sept. 28 in the sky above the Battlefords. The camera’s shutter clicked just when the shadow of the Earth was slowly lifting off, exposing a small portion of the moon. The full moon was what is referred to as a Supermoon. This means the moon was closest to the Earth as it turns into a full moon. Total eclipses of super full moons are rare. According to NASA, they have occurred only five times in the 1900s – in 1910, ‘28, ‘46, ‘64 and ‘82. The next will occur Oct. 8, 2033. (source: timeanddate. com) Photo by Anand George
