Maidstone was the first community in Saskatchewan to issue an emergency declaration due to the flooding. • This week in 2013, the landmark Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Ghost at Whitkow was destroyed in a controlled burn. The first service of the church was held in 1934 and the final service had been held in 1998.
