Destination Battlefords held their annual general meeting last week. Executive Director Ryan Bater gave an enthusiastic overview of the organization’s operations over the past year. Efforts to attract major events to the community have been
successful in that a Provincial Snowmobile Festival is being hosted Feb. 26 and 27. The community will also host the Saskatchewan 55+ Games July 5 to 7. Bater says 650 athletes are expected to take part. For more on these stories turn to Pages 2 and 3.
The Battlefords 2015 citizens of the year, Kiley Elmer and Floyd Andersen, were guests of honour Friday night at a banquet hosted at the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts. The annual designation, sponsored by Discovery Co-op, the North Battleford Lions and the News-Optimist, was celebrated with a meal, tributes and speeches by the recipients.
