Destination Battlefords is an innovative marketing organization with a mandate to promote the Battlefords as a Destination Area for tourists, new residents, businesses, and events. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors comprising the Battlefords Hotels Association, City of North Battleford, Town of Battleford, and industry members. In addition to elevating the profile and reputation the Battlefords to external markets, Destination Battlefords strives to educate the local community about the importance of destination marketing, elevate community pride, and work with local event organizers to enhance the capacity of the Battlefords to host major events. Destination Battlefords operates the new Battlefords River Valley Visitor Centre at 801 River Valley Drive at the base of King Hill. North Battleford Business Improvement District Corp. Downtown North Battleford
The purpose of the BID is to improve, beautify and maintain public property in addition to city beautification and improvements, create a safe and secure environment, market and promote the BID as a business and shopping area, develop and host special events and provide vision and a voice for the downtown. The BID, formally incorporated on May 30, 2013, is an organization born from the collective vision and commitment of the Downtown North Battleford merchants. The organization strives to support and advance the interests of all businesses situated within the boundaries of the district. Beta Sigma Phi Beta Sigma Phi is a non-academic international women’s friendship network which provides educational programs to its members and opportunities for service to others. Known around the world as “The Friendship Organization”, we are women of all ages, interests, educational and economic backgrounds, the largest organization of its kind in the world. The Catholic Women’s League of Canada The Catholic Women’s League was organized nationally June 17, 1920. The Historic Battleford Lions Club The Historic Battleford Lions Club (chartered in 1976) and the Battleford 2000 Lions Club (Chartered in 2000) amalgamated in 2014 and are now jointly called The Historic Battleford Lions Club. The Lions motto is “We Serve” Our club “serves” our community by supporting local people, projects and events and we feel that giving back to our community helps make our community a great place to live. Working in partnership with other Lions members is an invaluable and fun experience, fostering positive personal and professional relationships. We organize the Christmas Bazaar, held the first Saturday of December, and the “We’ve got you covered” Community Garage Sale, held the first Saturday in May, as well as numerous other activities. This year, we will be organizing an event in conjunction with the

International Street Performer Festival in July and also organizing “The Operun” in October to raise funds for the Opera House in Battleford. Funds raised are dedicated to specific projects or are distributed to local people, projects and events throughout the year.. We also support organizations that deal with diabetes, sight, the elderly youth, culture, sports and recreation. As Lions, we support project Pride and Lions Dog Guides and other events sponsored by Lions International and the Lions Foundation of Canada. We also “serve” by volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program, by volunteering to host a birthday party at Battlefords District Care Centre, by planting trees in our community and in many other ways. Ionic Lodge No. 31 A.F. and A.M. Ionic Lodge No. 31 was instituted in North Battleford in December of 1906. The Philanthropy of the Masonic Order is Youth. Ionic Lodge
provides an award to the Musical Festival in Speech Arts. We also sponsor a young boy or girl to the provincial leadership youth program, which promotes to improve leadership skills. The Masonic Youth Trust Fund provides scholarships to students to further their education. Ionic Lodge No. 31 meets on the second Friday of every month except July and August. K-40 Club of North Battleford Membership in K-40 consists of former Kinsmen Club members. Wives of K-40 members are K-ettes. The K-40 Club functions mainly as a social organization to continue the fellowship established in Kinsmen. The K-40 Bonspiel, held each year in a different location in Canada, is a major event. Kinsmen Club of North Battleford In the early 1920s a group of young men gathered to form an Eclectic Club. Three other clubs and the Battlefords club joined the Kinsmen Association in 1927. The Association of Kinsmen Clubs stretches across Canada in large and small communities from coast to coast. The Association was founded by Hal Rogers of Hamilton, Ont. He lived to see the Association grow and become a truly important allCanadian service club for young men with the working motto “Serving the Community’s Greatest Needs”. The purpose of the club has been to be actively involved in helping their community and to assist in the personal development of its members. The first large project was the construction of the North Battleford Swimming Pool in 1930 at a cost of $10,000. In keeping with its long tradition, the North Battleford Kinsmen Club donated $60,000 to construction of the indoor City Kinsmen Swimming Pool. The Club has also made substantial donations to dozens of other community projects throughout the years, including the purchase of playground equipment for Kinsmen Park and the purchase of the Kinsmen Van which is utilized by various non-profit organizations in the Battlefords for their transportation needs. In addition, the club has contributed approximately $50,000 to construction of the Band Hall. The North Battleford City Kinsmen Band has been a very successful organization in promoting music among the young students in the Battlefords. For more than 25 years the club has been actively involved in Telemiracle in Regina and Saskatoon with all of Saskatchewan participating to the fullest. The club meets at the Wildlife Federation Building on the second and fourth Monday of the month for a supper meeting at 7:00 p.m. Membership requires a male to be between the ages of 19 and 45 and to be introduced to the club by an active Kinsmen. Kiwanis Club of The Battlefords While Kiwanis is international in scope, the Kiwanis Club of the Battlefords makes the needs of children in the Battlefords its first priority. Club meetings are held every Monday noon, at Blend Restaurant and offer an atmosphere of fun, learning and fellowship. Noon meetings generally consist of project updates followed by thoughtprovoking community speakers. The Kiwanis Club suppor ts a wide range of community organizations and our service projects are often linked to the Kiwanis Program. “Young Children: Priority One,” but we address other needs within the community. North Battleford B.P.O. Elks The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of Canada was founded in 1912 and was incorporated by an act of Parliament, May 16, 1913. The North Battleford Lodge No. 369 of the B.P.O.E. was founded in 1953. The purpose of this society are: benevolent, provident, moral and charitable purposes and in particular to generally assist children for their good and welfare. The National Charity of our order is The Elks and Royal Purple fund for children and through this the Elks Deaf Detection and Development Program. This charity offers assistance to children under the age of 19 years who for one reason or another require it and assistance is not available through other channels. Today we have a variety of Ongoing Provincial Programs across Canada for the hearing and communicatively disabled child. The Saskatchewan Preschool Auditory Rehabilitation Centre or SPARC, was founded in 1976. It is located at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon and provides free hearing tests for preschool children. The Institute for Stuttering Treatment and Research, University of Alberta, Edmonton, was founded in 1986. This program provides research and a unique model service with immense benefits for the stuttering child. The Elks and Royal Purple Drug Awareness Program assists in educating children about the danger of drug and alcohol abuse. The North Battleford Lodge supports these programs as well as many local charity and needy groups or individuals. Bingos continue to be our main fund raising projects. In May, 1998, the lodge committed $18,000 to fund the continuation of the multipurpose exercise trail from Scott Drive to Douglas Avenue. Over the years most children and youth activities, sports programs including minor football league have received assistance from the Elks. In 1993 the Elks purchased four emergency room beds and two heart monitors for a cost of $40,000 for Battlefords Union Hospital. In 2003 $9,500 was committed to furnish one palliative care room at BUH. In 2009 we funded $4,000 toward the purchase of the score clock at the Civic Centre. We are one of the groups sponsoring free skating for adults and children. Since 2013, more than $200,000 has been donated throughout the community to individuals, schools, groups and organizations. In 2010 we donated $50,000 to the Aquatic Centre at the CUplex multi purpose facility, in keeping with our purpose of assisting children and adults. In 2012 $15,000

The Order of The Eastern Star The Order of The Eastern Star, North Battleford Chapter No. 2 was organized in 1912, the second Chapter in the province. Members celebrated their 100th Anniversary in 2012. At present our membership is 50 local and out of town members, who meet once a month, on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Hall, 1482 - 92nd Street. Holiday months are July and August. Our main projects and concerns are Cancer Research, Cancer Dressings, M.S. The North Battleford Council has been in existence since the early 1930s and has spent a great deal of time and effort raising funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. Another major project is the support of Centennial Park Education Centre. We also help the Special Olympics in their endeavours and sponsor Junior Golf. We meet the second Wednesday of each month in the Canadian Cancer Society office.

In The Battleford’s many of our projects have focused on the celebration of excellence in youth as leaders in tomorrow’s world. Scholarships in academics and the arts, RYLA, RYPEN, and international student exchange are all examples of Rotary commitment to youth in the Battlefords. Rotary has supported local projects such as the Rotary Skateboard Park, Paws Off-Leash Dog Park, King Hill, Multipurpose Walking Trail, the Senator Herb Sparrow Splash Park, Rotary Plaza at the CUplex and recently donated $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Club for their new building project. Many of the funds raised for the projects come from the Trip of the Month fundraiser, the famous Spud-Nut booth at the fair and the annual NHL Playoff Hockey Draft. The Rotary Club of the Battlefords sponsors the Integrity Award each year and is awarded at the President’s Wind Up. A non-Rotarian is chosen for this award based on his or her integrity in their profession and/or volunteer work within the community. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 9 Following the Great War of 1914-18 veterans formed clubs throughout Canada. They became an official service club in 1925 when a Dominion Organization was duly registered and Legion clubs were formed in each province wherever veterans settled. The Battleford Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion was chartered October 6, 1926. The purpose of the Legion is to constitute an association of those who have served or are serving in Her Majesties Armed Forces and others who support the purpose of the Legion. To bring about unity of all who served. To further among them the spirit of comradeship and mutual help. To perpetuate the memory and deed of the fallen and those who die in the future. To promote and care for memorials to their valor and sacrifice. To insure that proper attention be paid to the welfare of all who served and welfare of their dependents. To encourage, promote, engage in or support all forms of national, provincial, municipal or community service or any charitable purpose. Projects include: General welfare of veterans, continual upgrading of the hall, November 11 Poppy campaign, Cenotaph repair and landscape in conjunction with the town, sports participation in the community and within the branch, sponsoring of the Army Cadets, a ramp has been put in place to make the hall accessible to the handicapped, cooperate with the Town to enhance the cemetery with particular attention to Veterans plot. We do lunches for the Mental Health dances, Meals on Wheels, youth groups, 4-H groups, musical festival, Bowl For Kids, Interval House, Festival of Trees, Kamp for Kids and many more. We support our national charity, The Elks and the Purple Cross Fund for children. Part II - Special Interest and Recreation 4-H Saskatchewan Northwest Regional 4-H Office 4-H is one of Canada’s largest youth organizations. From your local club meeting to conferences and events across Canada and around the world, 4-H can take you as far as you want to go. Our concept of Learn to Do by Doing has expanded from our rural roots to include more than 50 project options available today. 4-H has something for everyone! From archery to animals, cooking to exploring the outdoors, 4-H is about challenging your comfor t zone , le arning more about things you are interested in, meeting people that share those interests, and having fun! There are about 200 4-H clubs in Saskatchewan with several in the Battleford area. Anyone can start a new 4-H club for any project that they choose with only one adult leader and four youth members. Battle River Archers Archery Club Our club’s purpose is to promote the sport of archery. Our members enjoy the opportunity to introduce non-members to the sport and to improve their skill level in a safe and friendly environment. Our club’s facilities appeal to target archers, 3D archers and bow hunters. Our club is an active participant in the Saskatchewan Archery Association’s “Junior Olympic Program” wherein young archers (age 20 and under) receive coaching and recognition as they progress to higher levels of proficiency. Battle River Cloggers The Battle River Cloggers was formed in the fall of 1987, when a group of square dancers asked Dona Keys if she would be their instructor. The club has grown to include people from all around the Battlefords. In the fall of 1995, we started a children’s class. Clogging is done with a double tap on the shoe. It came from the Appalachian Mountains and was modernized to better fit modern music. The Battle River Cloggers dance selected Monday nights and Thursday afternoons, starting the end of September to the end of April. Dona Keys is the instructor. We dance at 10326 Bunce Cres. Battleford Quilters The Battleford Quilters group was formed on March 6, 1974. The traditional art of hand quilting continues to be enjoyed by 14 members who meet each Wednesday at the Alex Dillabough Center from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome to join us to observe, put in a few stitches and have a cup of tea/coffee. New members are always welcome. The Battleford Quilters will take orders for quilts to be hand quilted. The customers provide the quilt top, the batting and backing. All the hand quilting is stitched by volunteers. Each hand quilted quilt has our logo on the back. The proceeds are kept in the community, with donations to the Battleford Tot Lot, and the Battleford Opera House for restorations. Antique quilts are precious. quilts which have been donated to charities in our community such as The Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation for the Festival of Trees, River Heights Lodge Auxiliary for the Walk in Winter Wonderland, the Motorcycle Ride for Dad which supports Cancer Research and last year we quilted the quilt Louise donated to the Cancer Society. Members have enjoyed demonstrating hand quilting for special occasions at The Fort Battleford National Historic Park and The Western Development Museum. The Battlefords Ag. Society operates under the guidelines of the Saskatchewan Agricultural Societies Act, its own constitution and bylaws. The objectives of the society are to encourage improvement in agriculture, homemaking, industry, manufacturing, a rts and to promote educational activities, recreation and community development. Created in 1885 by our pioneers, records and documents show the local society has continuously served the surrounding communities in a variety of activities. Current activities focus around the Battlefords Children’s Festival, Community Garage Sales, Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Races, 4-H Regional Show and Sale, Progressive Safety Day and the annual Agricultural Exhibition known as Northwest Territorial Days August 11 - 14, with a parade to kick it off August 10 in the evening. AGRIMEX is a commercial trade fair that allows business people to exhibit in appropriate classifications to support agriculture, business, industry. It happens for 3 days at the beginning of April. The Annual Mistletoe Craft Show and Sale will be held November 7 and 8, 2015. We will be hosting a new event to the Community on September 12th. It will be Vintage Flat Track Races. We hope that everyone come to check this out.

Battlefords Art Club The basic aim of the club is to help and encourage each member to develop their potential for creating satisfying artwork in any medium. Battlefords Beaver Good Sam Chapter The purpose of the club is to provide fun, companionship and enjoyment for RV’ers A group of people interested in camping and socializing in a spirit of helping each other. Battlefords Community Players Battlefords Community Players have been part of the scene in the Battlefords since 1952. The club is one of the oldest in the province and the first to bring supper theatre to Saskatchewan audiences. The club traditionally presents four productions each year and will often work with other groups in partnership to present a wide variety of experiences to the community. The club has been the first to produce many new plays for first time and emerging writers – some with great success others not so much. We have also produced many productions written by local writers that have been very successful. BCP traditionally offers a 3 or 4 play season on a subscription basis, as well as smaller, more intimate, productions at our clubhouse in Battleford. The 2015 - 2016 season will be announced by the end of June, 2015 and our patrons will get first opportunity to renew their subscription during July and August. Regular tickets and new subscribers will have ample opportunity to purchase tickets during September and October. Battlefords Duplicate Bridge Club The Battlefords Duplicate Bridge Club is in its 46th year of operation. Bridge is an intellectual game, one of the most popular card games worldwide and is believed to slow the process of dementia. One session of bridge is played weekly on Thursdays, 7:00 p.m. Six weeks of lessons are given in the fall on Tuesdays. (Date to be announced). Bridge games continue through the year on Tuesdays 11:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Bagged lunch at noon. Free coffee and snacks at all sessions. The Battlefords Duplicate Bridge Club is an affiliated club with the American Contract Bridge League in Horn Lake, Ms. (ACBL), headquarters for all North American clubs. Two charity games are held each year, one local and one national.
Provincial, national and international bridge tournaments are regular features. Regional and sectional tournaments are held in Saskatchewan. Battlefords Highland Dancing Association Any person interested in preserving and extending a knowledge of Scottish culture, especially through the various forms of Highland Dance, is invited to join the Battlefords Highland Dance Association. The association, consisting of many of the parents of the dancers, sponsors an annual Robbie Burns Night usually held the 3rd weekend in January. The Highland Dancers often dance at local functions and entertain regularly at seniors’ homes. They also take part in provincial competitions and workshops. Battlefords Horseshoe Club League play is on Wednesday evenings between 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. You are on your own. Play as many games as you wish at any time. Take your holiday. No catch up games necessary. New players are given a handicap to equalize their games with those who have been playing for years. Age 65 Men, ladies and juniors pitch a distance of 30 feet. Men under 65 pitch 40 feet. We hold one sanction tournament a year. We host a wind-up in the fall for members only, which includes a supper, and award presentations are made. Battlefords Jazz Society Inc.
North Battleford hosted a Northern District Festival in the spring of 1925 in the Arena Skating Rink. This point of interest gives some indication as to the extent of early musical interest in The Battlefords and area. In 2011 our 80th anniversary was celebrated. Our festival is one of the few that carries the distinction of conducting continued festivals for 70 years. The objective of our association is to encourage musical growth and development. The festival gives young people an opportunity to perform in public, compete with others their own age and benefit from the suggestions given by the adjudicators. Our committee consists of many dedicated volunteers who help to coordinate the festival. Financial assistance and awards are donated by service clubs, businesses and individuals as well as by the City of North Battleford and the Town of Battleford. Battlefords Kiwanis Music Festival Association
The Battlefords Lawn Bowling Club was formed on May 24, 1978. In 1979 the club affiliated with the Provincial and Canadian Lawn Bowling Association. The purpose of the club is to provide lawn bowling opportunities for members wishing to participate for recreation, fellowship and to prepare themselves for competitive lawn bowling. This sport is open to people of all ages - young and not so young. Our members compete in tournaments in Saskatoon and exchange Fun Days with Saskatoon Clubs, Nutana and Mayfair. We bowl Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 6:45 p.m. at 1901 - 106th Street weather permitting. Membership fee for the whole season, a possible 60 games is $45.00, $40.00 for juniors. Prospective members are allowed two free trial evenings. Members are not committed to attend every time, but whenever the wish to come out to bowl. Membership is open to anyone and new members are welcome.

The Battlefords North Stars are one of 12 teams, which compete in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The North Stars take pride in providing the community with entertainment and a high calibre brand of hockey. Since 1973, the Battlefords have been home to a junior hockey franchise and are proud to have some of the most loyal and enthusiastic fans in the league. The North Stars appreciate the support of the community and do what they can to give back to the community. That often includes visits to schools and senior homes in the Battlefords, volunteering for charity events and fundraising and being positive role models in the community. The North Stars instill the values of courage, commitment and community to all their players. The team is made up of players 16 to 20 years old from the Battlefords and other locations from across North America. The operation of the hockey club is done through the efforts of a large group of volunteers, billets who open their homes and an elected board of directors. Along with the hockey on the ice at the North Battleford Civic Centre, the North Stars also host the Annual Jackfish Lake Ice Fishing Derby, an annual golf tournament as well as another big fundraiser for the team of Growing with the Stars Ag. Battlefords Registered Music Teachers’ Association
Since its founding in 1948, the Battlefords branch of the Saskatchewan Registered Music Teachers Association has been actively concerned and involved in the provision of quality music education. Active members of the association reside in Glenbush, Cut Knife, Spiritwood, Unity, Battleford, North Battleford and surrounding rural areas. The members frequently serve their communities as church organists, accompanists, guest soloists, playing for weddings, funerals, teachers also prepare students for music festivals, examinations and public recitals. At least one degree from a recognized educational institution must be obtained before becoming a full member of the association. Because of affiliation with the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers Association, students of Registered Music Teachers have special opportunities to achieve experience in music writing competitions conducted nationally. Students who perform can take part in auditions for the Young Artist Series. Winners of this competition will perform a series of concerts on a tour which is hosted

Battlefords Sailing Club offers many lake recreational opportunities which include sailing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. Battlefords Ukrainian Seniors Society Branch No. 184 The Battlefords Ukrainian Seniors Society Branch No. 184 was first organized October 1977. The purpose was to get Ukrainian Canadians together for recreation and socialization. Having no permanent home, the basements of the two Ukrainian churches were put to use, alternating every Wednesday for readings, cards, singing and general socializing. In January 1980, we acquired the former band hall, started dismantling on January 14, 1980 and in three days time had it moved to our present location at 792 - 108 Street. Through the generosity of our people and the great amount of volunteer labor by so many we now have a building that is paid for, which serves many purposes and we are very proud to show it off. The seniors gather once a week on Tuesday afternoon for socializing, enjoy playing cards, dancing and having pot luck suppers. Every month we have a meeting at the Battlefords Ukrainian Seniors Hall. The last Monday of every second month we celebrate birthdays with a supper. Ladies also do crafts. We gather for suppers with others for certain celebrations such as Ukrainian New Year, Ukrainian Heritage Day and any other occasion that warrants such a supper.

Battlefords Vintage Auto Club Inc. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Battlefords Vintage Auto Club House. Battlefords Wildlife Federation More than 75 years ago a group of hunters and fisherman got together and formed an organization to stop excessive hunting and to slow down the depletion of habitat for wildlife, and to establish controls on over fishing. This organization eventually became known as The Battlefords Wildlife Federation. At the present time there are over 400 members.
In 1975 the Battlefords Wildlife Federation in conjunction with The City of North Battleford, Ducks Unlimited and McMillan Brothers embarked on one of its most exciting and successful undertakings, “The Goose Nesting Project”. This is located within the city limits in the North Saskatchewan River valley. The two basins cover 135 acres. An average of 50 pairs of Canada Geese nest here each year, with a yearly hatch of over 200 goslings. This wetland also provides habitat for numerous other species both migratory and local. It is a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. A viewing tower and platforms have been built to provide magnificent opportunities to see wildlife up close. In 1999 the Battlefords Wildlife Federation entered into a long term agreement with the City of North Battleford on use of the vacant water slide facility and have developed it into an interpretive centre. The purpose is to enhancement of wildlife habitat and youth education in outdoor and conservation fields. Displays exhibited this year are: • a 42-foot display of taxidermy specimens fitting into the backdrop mural of three landscapes — prairie, shoreline and forest; • a display of how animals are adapted to habitats; • an egg collection from over 50 types of birds; • live aquatic tank; interpreting the life of various water insects; • large forest predators. Interpreting their value in the balance of nature; • A Sportsman Den, explaining what role hunters and fishermen play; • a video camera on location on an island in the goose nesting project monitored inside the interpretive centre, allowing visitors to view wildlife up close without disturbing it; • one section has an exhibit of 124 processed plants that grow in the river valley; • on the hillsides are walkways where you can observe identified natural plant life, flower gardens and an aquatic pond. Chautauqua Canine Club Formed in early 1986, the members of the Chautauqua Canine Club are dedicated to the promotion and betterment of purebred dogs and canines in general. Motto: To Preserve the History of North Battleford and the History of its Citizens” In 1989, the Council of the City of North Battleford appointed a Committee to develop and oversee the North Battleford City Archives. It is now referred to as the City of North Battleford Historic Archives to better reflect the historic content of its holdings and purpose. The City of North Battleford Historic Archives Committee is appointed by Council to assist with the operation of the Archives. The Committee, consisting of up to nine volunteer members appointed for two year terms, holds regular meetings as well as workshops throughout the year. The Historic Archives accessions and preserves paper and photographic material depicting the historical development of the City of North Battleford. Materials relating to the community, its development, its citizens and organizations are collected on an ongoing basis. The City of North Battleford Historic Archives uses computer software to enable easier cataloguing and quick access to information. The aim is to have all its holdings on a computer data base to be accessible to the public on the City website. The accessions of the Archives are housed in the Don Ross Centre, Room 111. The Archives is staffed by a part-time Archivists who may be contacted by calling 306-445-1786. Arrangements to access the Archives holdings, outside the part time schedule, can be made by contacting the City Clerk, City Hall at 306-445-1719. Our motto in Club DJ is “Hearts That Desire To Please God” and our aim is to encourage children to have hearts that desire to please the Lord. We truly believe that is we would raise up a generation with such hearts that we would begin to see things happen in our nation that would have no explanation, except that God did it! Club DJ is based on the covenant relationship between two friends David and Jonathan. We read about them in the book of I Samuel. David was a shepherd boy, the youngest in a family of eight boys and Jonathan was a prince, son of King Saul. Everyone would have thought that Jonathan would be king but God had other plans. Instead, God chose David to be the next king of Israel. You might think that Jonathan would be jealous, but instead, Jonathan made a covenant with David and promised to do al he could to help David become all that God wanted him to be. What a friend! Jonathan gave up all he had for David’s sake, and the Bible says David became a man after God’s own heart and that the Lord was with him. We want the children to know they also have a friend who gave up all He had to see them become all God wants them to be. Jesus, the Son of God, left His home in Heaven to come to earth as a little baby. He died and rose again to make a way for each child to have a personal relationship with Him, so they can become all God wants them to be. What a Friend!

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is a private, non-profit, charitable organization that conserves, restores and manages wetlands and associated habitats. Since 1938, DUC has been restoring drained wetlands, improving those that have been degraded, and protecting others from being lost across Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan is part of the pothole region that spans Canada’s southern prairies and is known throughout North America as a unique jurisdiction for waterfowl. The many small wetlands that dot this landscape make it especially attractive to the waterfowl that migrate to Saskatchewan each spring to breed and rear their young. Saskatchewan citizens have long valued the ecologically rich landscapes that make up their province and have played a key role in managing habitat for migratory bird species such as waterfowl. DUC’s work with the people of Saskatchewan has been essential in achieving waterfowl habitat goals and preserving those landscapes. Waterfowl aren’t the only beneficiaries of DUC wetland and habitat conservation efforts – people benefit too. Wetlands are nature’s water filters. Beyond improving habitat for waterfowl and other wildlife, wetlands replenish groundwater sources, purify surface water and offer flood protection and erosion control. All of which contribute to a safe water supply. Although wetlands are considered nature’s nursery, the stark reality is that much of this habitat has been lost and the remainder continues to be degraded. Up to 70 per cent of Canada’s original wetlands have vanished in settled parts of the country, and more disappear every day. Our conservation work is not done. Living Faith Chapel Living Faith Chapel offers various programming for all ages, as well as study groups throughout the week. North Battleford City Kinsmen Band The North Battleford City Kinsmen Band is a community band whose mandate is to provide training on woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Anyone in the Battlefords and area ages eight to well over eighty is welcome. The three levels of performing options can accommodate a wide range of music experience. The beginners’ group is for those learning to play an instrument and they meet on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. The intermediate band is for those that are able to play an instrument and are looking for an opportunity to develop those skills. They meet on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The senior band is for the more experienced players. They meet on Mondays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The bands meet for weekly practices on the first Monday after Labour Day until the beginning of May. All rehearsals are at the North Battleford City Kinsmen Band Hall, 1801 - 104th Street, North Battleford. The North Battleford City Kinsmen Band is an amalgamation of the former NBCK youth program and the adults of the Battlefords’ Concert Band. North Battleford Grand Squares Square Dance Club Our 2015 - 2016 dance season begins on October 7th through to December 16th, then reconvenes on February 3rd and ends on March 30th. North Battleford Senior Citizens “Action Now” Club Inc. Our Leisure Centre was opened in October of 1981 and is located at 1501 - 101st Street. Northland Power Curling Centre The newly constructed Northland Power Curling Centre located next to the Dekker Centre in the CUplex opened its doors in October 2012. This spacious and modern two storey building, operated by the Twin Rivers Curling Club, features six sheets of ice, change/locker rooms, meeting rooms and administration offices on the main floor and fully equipped “Hit N’ Stay” restaurant and lounge with ice surface viewing on the second level. This facility has year round rental opportunities for trade shows, wedding receptions, public gatherings and company events such as Christmas socials, curling bonspiels, banquets and workshops. Connected via Pedway on the second floor to the NationsWest Fieldhouse provides great opportunities for larger scale events as well combining the two buildings. Curling opportunities are available for all ages and levels of skill during the curling season which runs from the beginning of October to the end of March. From April to the end of September the Northland Power Curling Centre is home to the Battlefords Roller Derby League with practices on Monday and Wednesday and games booked from some Saturday afternoons. Daytime curling runs on Tuesday (New Horizons) and Thursday (50 Plus League) with a morning and an afternoon session. Junior, High School and Learn to Curl programs for youth and adults run later in the afternoons on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Monday and Thursday evenings present league curling to Open and Mixed teams of all levels of skill. Tuesday evening is the mixed/open Competitive League. Twin Rivers Curling Club is looking at league curling for Two (2) person teams - known as Sturling Curling and junior leagues - perhaps on Weekends depending on interest. Short 4 to 6 week leagues will also be offered throughout the season for all to enjoy the sport of curling. Wednesday and Friday evenings, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. is what is called Drop-in Curling, open to anyone, singles, families business or association groups, teams and visitors who just want to throw some rocks for an hour or two. Throughout the curling season, Twin Rivers Curling Club will be host to several regional and provincial events that will make great viewing by the public. One of the major events of this curling season is in spring of 2016 when the club hosts the Affinity Credit Union Mens and Womens Senior Provincials, a major event on the CurlSask calendar. The Battle River Rocker Women’s Spiel and the Men’s 93rd Annual Spiel in the spring are always a hit with the Curling community as well as the Tim Horton’s U14 spiel held in February.. The Rivers’ Edge Quilt Guild was formed in September 2000 with 14 members and now has an active membership of nearly 40 quilters. Northwest Hockey Development Association The NWHDA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting hockey in The Battlefords. Our main function for raising money to promote hockey is the operation of the Civic Centre concession. All help in operating the concession is volunteer and these volunteers in turn receive funds for their various organizations. The major disbursement is the Jr. A North Stars with funds also going to the Midget AAA North Stars, Midget AA Barons, Bantam AA Barons and Pee Wee AA Barons. Also volunteering and receiving funds are Battlefords Figure Skating Club and Orcas Swim Club. The NWHDA also helps in sponsoring various hockey tournaments. The Pioneer Association The Pioneer Association began in 1955 and has been active ever since. It owns a small but very well-equipped hall at 792 - 101st Street. Members are 50 years of age and over and the annual membership fee is $5.00 per person. Membership number at the end of 2012 was 76. Any member of 90 years of age qualifies for a lifetime membership. On the fourth Wednesday of each month a birthday party is held, with a pot-luck supper and a dance with live local music. There are suppers and dances held for special occasions throughout the year. An old time dance is held the second Friday of each month, October to April inclusive, with live music. Pot luck lunch to follow. This is open to everyone. A jam session is held the first Sunday afternoon of each month from October to June. Musicians bring your instruments. Everyone welcome to listen or dance. Admission is a silver collection. Royal Canadian Air Cadets No. 43 Squadron The goal of the Air Cadet movement is to encourage youth to become better citizens, and to promote an interest in aviation and aerospace industries. Weekly training includes citizenship, drill, sports, biathlon, marksmanship, target shooting and curling, with classroom instruction on flying, navigation, airframes, meteorology, aero engines and air radio. Weekend activities include aircrew survival, map and compass orientation, sports weekends, citizenship tours and the central theme of Air Cadets: flying and gliding. Youth aged 14 to 24 have the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Program through the squadron. Cadets are also given the opportunity to attend summer camps at various locations in Canada which include Drill and Ceremonial courses, Technical Training (electronics, airframes, aero engines), Airport Operations, Flying and Gliding to a license standard, and International Exchange to the U.S.A., Europe and Australia. 43 Squadron meets every Wednesday evening at 6:15 p.m. at 792 111th Street, North Battleford from September - June. The Cadet Program is Canada’s oldest youth movement, first formed in 1829. The Battleford Corp was formed on November 10, 1954. We are a non-profit charity organization that accepts all youth, either male or female ages 12 to 19. Our goal is to teach self-discipline, confidence, pride, responsibility and a sense of self-worth. The aim is to develop the attributes of good citizenship and leadership and to promote physical fitness. The Cadet honour code states that as a member of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets, all cadets shall aspire to become citizens of the highest integrity in their community, they shall strive for success in their studies, they shall be considerate of all persons and their property, they shall achieve the highest physical, mental, spiritual and moral standards possible. Weekly training includes, drill, fundamental training, citizenship, target shooting, map and compass, sports, physical fitness and others. There are occasional weekend exercises that include Bushcraft, Fieldcraft, Communications, Biathlon (cross-country skiing and range) and Orienteering with an added focus on Adventure Challenge. Defense Cadets can choose from a number of camps and training opportunities ranging from Basis courses in leadership, music, drill and marksmanship. Table Mountain Ski & Board Inc. Table Mountain Ski & Board Inc. was organized in December 1964. The small membership first used the slopes at McMillan’s gravel pit, graduating the following year to supporting a new facility with a rope tow near the hamlet of Prongua in the Eagle Hills. In the meantime, a group of skiers including Dr. Irwin Zacharias and David Conroy made an air survey of the region and located the ski hill now known as Table Mountain, 12 miles west of Battleford and four miles north and west. Work began to clear the north facing slope from bush in the fall of 1969. With some $11,000 in capital, guaranteed by 60 North Battleford businessmen, Table Mountain was opened on January 1, 1970. Hundreds of volunteer workers made Table Mountain possible. For every dollar spent, it is estimated that $5 of volunteer labour was donated including the construction and remodelling of a CN Railway Station moved from Battleford. Table Mountain Ski & Board Inc. includes: Alpine Race Team, Snow Stars (ski and board lessons), Riderz (boarding clinics), Freestyle Skiing and a Masters Club. The excellent facilities of Table Mountain are a strong factor in the development of the Battlefords and District’s young skiers and boarders. They also act as an advocacy group for individuals suffering from long term mental illness and participate in public awareness programs designed to reduce stigma. Membership is $5 per year. Battlefords Boys and Girls Club Inc. We are a non-profit, charitable organization providing for the recreational, cultural, educational and social needs of all children and youth 6 - 14 years of age in our community. We provide a “Safe Place” allowing kids to be kids. Youth are always supervised and kept busy, and we have Zero Tolerance for bullying and abuse. Every day is an adventure and there is never a dull moment around the Club. Program hours of operation run six days per week, during the afternoon, evenings and weekends. All programs focus on offering activities that reflect the social, educational, cultural and recreational goals of our agency and our community. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday - RBC after-school program - 2:45 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Evening drop in program - 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Weekends - Saturdays 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. All programs operate on a drop-in basis and following up to three introductory visits, a membership is required. The Battlefords Early Childhood Intervention Program (BECIP) is part of a province-wide network of home-based support services for families with children, birth to school age, who are developmentally delayed. BECIP provides services to families in the Battlefords, as well as outlying areas. Funding for this program is provided through the Ministry of Education, First Nations Inuit Health Branch and other community contracts and donations. The family home provides the child with a natural and supportive environment in which to learn. Parents and other family members are provided with information, training techniques and emotional support through individual home visits and group sessions. Home visits are made to each family with Family Service Plans developed specific to each child’s needs. Various teaching methods are demonstrated by the Early Interventionist to assist the family in stimulating their child. The family is responsible for carrying out the suggested activities made by program staff. The program also offers the family a toy and resource lending library.. BECIP also provides support to children in Pre-Kindergarten and licensed child care facilities. Annual Christmas and summer events are planned to support the engagement to families to families. Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation is a public foundation (April, 1992) operating independently of other health care organizations and supporting the funding of capital, non-capital equipment and staff education at BUH and Battlefords Region Home Care (BRHC). Canadian Mental Health Association Battlefords CMHA Battlefords Branch is a non-profit organization supporting persons living with mental illness, their families and caregivers. We are one of nine branches in Saskatchewan providing direct services, programs, education, advocacy and mental health community awareness to reduce stigma. We provide the following programs: Training for Employment Program (TEP I and TEP II) develops work and life skills and employs a team of individuals working in the community. TEP I and TEP II crews remove snow, mow lawns, maintain yards and deliver flyers. The TEP II crew works at the David Laird Campground during the camping season maintaining the grounds and facilities. Social/Recreation Program focuses on community involvement and social interaction. Activities are offered to members either free or at minimal cost (Christmas social, monthly dances, seniors program, special events, day trips and extensive summer programs). Social/Recreational activities are offered four evenings a week, bowling each Saturday, day and weekend trips and a week long summer tour. Life Skills Program, based on the Saskatchewan New Start Model for life skills training, assist clients in the development and maintenance of essential daily living skills that may have been lost due institutionalization, loss of independences and so forth. The Life Skills Program runs Monday and Wednesday morning (except during summer months). CMHA Battlefords Branch partners with Friends for Life and GAP (Gambling Awareness Program) to provide community awareness and education workshops. CMHA Battlefords Branch facilitates ‘I’m Thumbody’ and Communication and Problem Solving Skills (CAPSS) to grade two and grade five students respectively. A support group for families, friends and caregivers of persons living with mental illness meets at our office the last Tuesday of each month (excluding July & August). Citizens on Patrol Program The Citizens on Patrol Program is a group of volunteers who work in conjunction with local authorities in the Battlefords. Our mandate is to act as an extra set of “eyes” and “ears” for the community, patrolling the streets in the city and town.

Habitat for Humanity - Battlefords Chapter Our mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting home ownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty. In November 2012, My First Home Inc. of the Battlefords signed an agreement to operate Habitat for Humanity-The Battlefords, under the umbrella of Habitat Saskatoon. Habitat Saskatoon serves as our mentor and provides full administrative support including sending out tax receipts. This allows the local committee and volunteers to focus on the home build itself.

Homes are built using volunteer labour and donated materials. Working families who are selected to receive a home must contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” and enter into an affordable and sustainable, no-interest mortgage, held by Habitat Saskatoon. Plans are under way for the 2015 construction of a duplex at 1211 - 106th Street. We are recruiting individuals and businesses/organizations who wish to come out and help with the build. Playtime Co-operative Childcare This non-profit parent co-operative is licensed to provide childcare services for 73 children aged six weeks to 12 years. The centre is open 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Playtime Childcare provides full-time, part-time and drop-in childcare services. Arrangements can be made for school age children up to 12 years of age to come for noon lunch as well as before and after school. Daily, pre-kindergarten skills are learned. All activities are designed with each individual child’s needs in mind. We do this by combining a learn through play and informal instruction philosophy. Programming is developed and implemented by staff trained in Early Childhood Education. Children with special needs are integrated within the center and individual programs designed specifically for each child allow them to participate in all areas. Prairie Employment Program Inc. Prairie Employment Program Inc. (1977) (PEP) is a non-profit community-based organization which is governed by a local board of directors. PEP is funded by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Economy (ECON) and the Government of Canada through Service Canada (SC). PEP’s mandate is to assist clients by establishing realistic employment goals, designing programs focused on solid outcomes and providing follow-up services and supports to ensure long-term success in the workforce. Prairie Employment Program works with unemployed individuals sixteen and over who offer a variety of skills and are seeking employment. Through the dynamics of one-to one counselling and the Skills Training Employability Plan (STEP) employment continuum, the agency provides services to facilitate career decision making, skills enhancement , employment preparation, work experience and work assessments. Along the STEP stairway, the agency offers an array of employment supports through the CAPACITIES Project which assist persons with disabilities and barriers to participate as fully as possible in the labour market. The ultimate goal is that persons with disabilities enjoy increased economic independence with enhanced well-being in the Battlefords and region. In view of this all-important societal goal, Prairie Employment Program is strongly committed to assist people who are experiencing serious difficulty obtaining and maintaining employment. 2015

Prairie North Health Region Prairie North Health Region is one of Saskatchewan’s 12 regional health authorities responsible for the planning, organization, delivery and evaluation of health services for its residents. The Primary Health Centre is located at Frontier Mall on North Battleford’s east side. The Centre is home to three key services: • Population Health Services (see previous section) • Primary Health Services – North Battleford Medical Clinic • Laboratory Service Centre The PHC North Battleford Medical Clinic offers the services of physicians and nurse practitioners, all of whom practice medicine under the primary care model. The se r v ice h a s ready access to the variety of health services available through Population Health which is located at the same site. The emphasis is on appropriate health care from appropriate health care providers. The Laboratory Service Centre is another element located at the Primary Health Centre. St John Ambulance is a non- profit, charitable organization that is over 900 years old. Mission Statement: To enable Canadians to improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing training and community service. We carry out our mission through community service, first aid and CPR training. We provide high quality training by knowledgeable and experienced instructors in First Aid/CPR/AED, Medical First Responder/ Emergency Medical Responder, Wilderness First Aid, Babysitting, Instructor, WHIMIS and Personal Care Worker courses. St. John Ambulance also carries all your first aid supply needs everything from bandages to Automated External Defibrillators. We always have room for more volunteers. St. John also has a Volunteer Therapy Dog Program. The Therapy Dog Program is founded upon the belief in the therapeutic benefits of volunteers from the community sharing their dogs with people who are unable to keep a dog of their own. Typical assignments include long term and palliative care facilities, hospitals and schools. During the visit, the dog offers unconditional love and friendship to the sick, the lonely and the helpless. The handler also plays a key role by providing an opportunity for interaction with the visited. TWO42 is a youth drop-in center that provides a safe and fun place for youth to connect with caring staff and volunteers. The Center is located at 1371 - 103 Street in the southeast corner of the Living Faith Chapel building in North Battleford. This program offers free sports for youth ages 12 - 18 on Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 9:00 p.m. each week. It offers free sports and leisure activities along with building strong mentoring relationships. Small groups have also been organized on Monday nights throughout the year. There are also special events happening from Camping trips to Concerts on a monthly basis. We are transforming a generation one life at a time.
