This business organization was incorporated as the North Battleford Board of Trade in 1906 with H.W. Detwiller as the Charter President and R.R. Earle, the Commissioner. In 1956-57, the Board of Trade changed its designation to the North Battleford Chamber of Commerce. In 1978, Battleford joined with the City and the Chamber became known as the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce and has grown with the communities, supporting a membership of more than 375 business firms.

The President is supported by a 20-member elected Board of Directors, the Executive Director and an Operations Staff to deal with the many, varied requests for business assistance from the local community and potential newcomers to the Battlefords.

Chambers of Commerce are catalysts in their community, and the Battlefords Chamber is no different. The local organization has several key priorities to serve the needs of its member businesses. Some of the priorities include:Workforce, Economic and Community Development, Business Promotion and Education, and more.The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce is the “Voice” of business in the Battlefords.

Regular meetings of the Board of Directors are held the third Tuesday of each month (excluding July and August) at 7:00 p.m. in the Balych Mural Meeting Room at the Chamber building. Members and interested people are welcome to attend.

and provincial government departments, to protect our historic buildings and properties; to lobby and act as critic if necessary b) to work with local, provincial and federal organizations and agencies who have an interest in preserving our history (Battlefords NorthWest Historic Society, for example) c) to gather data (especially policies on protecting/razing historic structures) from other city governments (Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, for example) d) with respect to (a), to research, write, present and negotiate a policy on identifying, securing, restoring, maintaining, and, in some cases, destroying our historic structures and sites e) to ensure the preservation of the historic buildings in the city’s downtown area in the wider context of contributing to the ideas and planning related to the rebuilding of North Battleford’s downtown core.

Ensuring the preservation of our historic structures and properties

The Battlefords Heritage Society is comprised of a group of citizens from the Battlefords who believe in the critical importance of saving our communities’ historic and heritage structures and properties. The society intends to partner with both municipal governments and the citizens of the Battlefords in the task of preserving our built history for future generations.The following provides information on the Society’s executive committee, its advisors, purpose, operational strategies, and first projects: Members Richard W. Destination Battlefords www.battlefords.ca Destination Battlefords is an innovative marketing organization with a mandate to promote the Battlefords as a Destination Area for tourists, new residents, businesses, and events. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors comprising the Battlefords Hotels Association, City of North Battleford, Town of Battleford, and industry members.

In addition to elevating the profile and reputation the Battlefords to external markets, Destination Battlefords strives to educate the local community about the importance of destination marketing, elevate community pride, and work with local event organizers to enhance the capacity of the Battlefords to host major events.

Beta Sigma Phi Beta Sigma Phi is a non-academic international women’s friendship network which provides educational programs to its members and opportunities for service to others. The Catholic Women’s League of Canada The Catholic Women’s League was organized nationally June 17, 1920.

It is the largest national organization of Catholic women in Canada and our motto is “For God and Canada.”

The Lions motto is “We Serve” Our club “serves” our community by supporting local people, projects and events and we feel that giving back to our community helps make our community a great place to live.Working in partnership with other Lions members is an invaluable and fun experience, fostering positive personal and professional relationships.

We organize the Christmas Bazaar, held the first Saturday of December, and the “We’ve got you covered” Community Garage Sale, held the first Saturday in May, as well as numerous other activities. This year, we will be organizing an event in conjunction with the International Street Performer Festival in July and also organizing “The Operun” in October to raise funds for the Opera House in Battleford. Funds raised are dedicated to specific projects or are distributed to local people, projects and events throughout the year.. We also support organizations that deal with diabetes, sight, the elderly youth, culture, sports and recreation. As Lions, we support project Pride and Lions Dog Guides and other events sponsored by Lions International and the Lions Foundation of Canada.

We also “serve” by volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program, by volunteering to host a birthday party at Battlefords District Care Centre, by planting trees in our community and in many other ways.

Ionic Lodge No. 31 A.F. and A.M. Ionic Lodge No. 31 was instituted in North Battleford in December of 1906. The Philanthropy of the Masonic Order is Youth. Ionic Lodge provides an award to the Musical Festival in Speech Arts.We also sponsor a young boy or girl to the provincial leadership youth program, which promotes to improve leadership skills. The Masonic Youth Trust Fund provides scholarships to students to further their education.

Ionic Lodge No. 31 meets on the second Friday of every month except July and August.

Kinsmen Club of North Battleford In the early 1920s a group of young men gathered to form an Eclectic Club. Three other clubs and the Battlefords club joined the Kinsmen Association in 1927. The Association of Kinsmen Clubs stretches across Canada in large and small communities from coast to coast. The Association was founded by Hal Rogers of Hamilton, Ont. He lived to see the Association grow and become a truly important all-Canadian service club for young men with the working motto “Serving the Community’s Greatest Needs”.

The purpose of the club has been to be actively involved in helping their community and to assist in the personal development of its members. The first large project was the construction of the North Battleford Swimming Pool in 1930 at a cost of $10,000. In keeping with its long tradition, the North Battleford Kinsmen Club donated $60,000 to construction of the indoor City Kinsmen Swimming Pool. For more than 25 years the club has been actively involved in Telemiracle in Regina and Saskatoon with all of Saskatchewan participating to the fullest.

The club meets at the Wildlife Federation Building on the second and fourth Monday of the month for a supper meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Membership requires a male to be between the ages of 19 and 45 and to be introduced to the club by an active Kinsmen. New individuals interested in joining the club should contact any Kinsmen member or the executive.

Kiwanis Club of The Battlefords While Kiwanis is international in scope, the Kiwanis Club of the Battlefords makes the needs of children in the Battlefords its first priority.

Club meetings are held last Monday noon of every month at Blend Restaurant and offer an atmosphere of fun, learning and fellowship.

Noon meetings generally consist of project updates followed by thoughtprovoking community speakers.

The Kiwanis Club supports a wide range of community organizations and our service projects are often linked to the Kiwanis Program.

Knights of Columbus - District 15 The Knights of Columbus (K of C) is an International Catholic, Family, Fraternal Service Organization of Catholic Men. The Dr. Uhrich Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly No. 1066 is the Patriotic Degree of the Knights of Columbus. Canada for the hearing and communicatively disabled child. The Saskatchewan Preschool Auditory Rehabilitation Centre or SPARC, was founded in 1976. It is located at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon and provides free hearing tests for preschool children.

The Institute for Stuttering Treatment and Research, University of Alberta, Edmonton, was founded in 1986.This program provides research and a unique model service with immense benefits for the stuttering child.

The Elks and Royal Purple Drug Awareness Program assists in educating children about the danger of drug and alcohol abuse. The North Battleford Lodge supports these programs as well as many local charity and needy groups or individuals. Bingos continue to be our main fund raising projects. In May, 1998, the lodge committed $18,000 to fund the continuation of the multipurpose exercise trail from Scott Drive to Douglas Avenue. Over the years most children and youth activities, sports programs including minor football league have received assistance from the Elks.

In 1993 the Elks purchased four emergency room beds and two heart monitors for a cost of $40,000 for Battlefords Union Hospital.

In 2003 $9,500 was committed to furnish one palliative care room at BUH. In 2009 we funded $4,000 toward the purchase of the score clock at the Civic Centre. We are one of the groups sponsoring free skating for adults and children. Since 2013, more than $200,000 has been donated throughout the community to individuals, schools, groups and organizations. In 2010 we donated $50,000 to the Aquatic Centre at the CUplex multi purpose facility, in keeping with our purpose of assisting children and adults. In 2012 $15,000 was committed to Battlefords Residential Services Inc. towards the purchase of a van.

In keeping with the Lions Club’s motto “We Serve” members of our club support for Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society and Skateboard Park & Public Skating Program. We provide our assistance at River Heights Lodge teas, the birthday parties and teas at Battlefords District Care Centre and Villa Pascal and annually deliver Meals on Wheels. The annual Christmas party and spring barbecue are long standing services we provide to clients of the CNIB. Contributions are also made to national and international levels of the Lions Foundation.

Scholarships in academics and the arts, RYLA, RYPEN, and international student exchange are all examples of Rotary commitment to youth in the Battlefords.

Rotary has supported local projects such as the Rotary Skateboard Park, Paws Off-Leash Dog Park, King Hill, Multipurpose Walking Trail, the Senator Herb Sparrow Splash Park, Rotary Plaza at the CUplex, Oktoberfest, Father/Daughter Gala and recently donated $50,000 to the Humane Society for their new building. The SaskTel Pioneers are a volunteer organization, promoting and participating in activities that respond to community needs. The SaskTel Pioneers are a provincial wide volunteer group with several chapters throughout the province, with the North Battleford Club having approximately 150 members.The organization consists of retired, working, and previous employees of SaskTel. It also includes spouses who contribute a great deal to the organization.

Our focus as an organization is on health, environment and education with literacy being one of our primary centers of attention. We have a long and ongoing relationship with many of the schools in Northwest Saskatchewan, where we participate with them in programs to supply backpacks full of school supplies for students in need. We donate or facilitate the donations of thousands of new books for North West students to have not only at school but at home. We have also made significant financial donations to over 25 school libraries and their literacy program in the last ten years.

We also have proud relationships with many other local organizations and groups such as BTEC, Habitat for Humanity, Canadian Cancer Society, The Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation and Meals on Wheels. With the support of the Battlefords Hotel and Dental Associations and various local businesses we have also begun to provide free of charge personal hygiene kits to many local schools and shelters.

As a club our focus is volunteer work, where we consistently provide between 2000 and 3000 hours per year to the Saskatchewan North West.Through battery and computer salvage initiatives we are also able to help may local organizations with financial donations. 4-H is one of Canada’s largest and longest running organizations for youth.

With a focus on fun and learning, 4-H provides opportunities, which will develop the skills needed in our ever-changing future.

Although the 4-H program has its roots in rural Saskatchewan, 4-H Saskatchewan serves all youth throughout the province who are 6 to 25 years of age and of all racial, cultural, economic and social backgrounds.

Annual registration fees are $90 as of the 2016/2017 4-H year.

AWANA Boys and Girls Club

Territorial Drive Alliance Church The AWANA Club is an interdenominational organization for boys and girls from age two years to Grade 12. Our name is an acrostic taken from 11 Timothy 2:15 - “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who

correctly handles the word of truth.” (NIV) In other words, Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed - AWANA. AWANA Club meets each Tuesday from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Territorial Drive Alliance Church. Club begins in early September and runs until the end of April.

Each club evening is divided into three parts — game time, handbook time and council time. Game time encourages good sportsmanship and cooperation. Handbook time focuses on scripture memorization and understanding the Bible. Each clubber has an opportunity to recite their memory work to qualified leaders. Council time is a time of singing, presentation of awards and a devotional.There are special theme nights each month that everyone enjoys. One special activity is the annual “Grand Prix” during which the clubbers race model cars which they have constructed out of wood.

Battle River Archers Archery Club Our club’s purpose is to promote the sport of archery. Our members enjoy the opportunity to introduce non-members to the sport and to improve their skill level in a safe and friendly environment.

Our club’s facilities appeal to target archers, 3D archers and bow hunters. Our club is an active participant in the Saskatchewan Archery Association’s “Junior Olympic Program” wherein young archers (age 20 and under) receive coaching and recognition as they progress to higher levels of proficiency.

Indoor shooting runs December through April and our outdoor range opens each spring as soon as weather permits.

Adult, youth & family memberships are available at very affordable rates.

Battle River Cloggers The Battle River Cloggers was formed in the fall of 1987, when a group of square dancers asked Dona Keys if she would be their instructor.The club has grown to include people from all around the Battlefords. In the fall of 1995, we started a children’s class.

Clogging is done with a double tap on the shoe. It came from the Appalachian Mountains and was modernized to better fit modern music. The Battle River Cloggers dance Monday evenings and Thursday afternoons from late September to April. Dona Keys is the instructor.

Battleford Quilters The Battleford Quilters group was formed on March 6, 1974. The traditional art of hand quilting continues to be enjoyed by 11 members who meet each Wednesday from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Alex Dillabough Center.

Visitors are welcome to join, observe, put in a few stitches and have a cup of tea/coffee. New members are always welcome. The Battleford Quilters will take orders for quilts to be hand quilted. The customers provide the quilt top, the batting and backing. All the hand quilting is stitched by volunteers. Each hand quilted quilt has The Battlefords Quilters logo on the back. Most of the proceeds are kept in the community, with donations to the Battleford Tot Lot, the Opera House restoration fund and other charities.

In 2016, they donated a quilt to the Alzheimer Society in memory of Louise Nykiforuk.

Their members have enjoyed demonstrating hand quilting for special occasions at Western Development Museum and will be hand quilting there during Those Were the Days, August 12 and 13, 2017.

The Battlefords Ag. Society operates under the guidelines of the Saskatchewan Agricultural Societies Act, its own constitution and bylaws. Agrimex is a commercial trade fair that allows business people to exhibit in appropriate classifications to support agriculture, business, industry. It happens for 3 days at the beginning of April. The Annual Mistletoe Craft Show and Sale will be held in early November.

Based on 70 acres of property on the eastern edge of the city the grounds boast the Agriplex, Agrivilla and Board Room, Four livestock barns, AgriVilla, grandstand and race track. Efforts are continuously in progress to upgrade the facilities to be able to serve an ever-changing community by hosting a variety of activities annually. The Agricultural Society is an integral part of our tourism industry.

Battlefords Art Club The basic aim of the club is to help and encourage each member to develop their potential for creating satisfying artwork in any medium.

Many of the members have had work accepted in Saskatchewan and National juried shows. The club supports visual arts in the Battlefords, and promotes exhibits of local work.They also encourage visits by artists from elsewhere, and promote a variety of workshops.

Battlefords Community Players Looking for a new adventure, did drama back in high school, always wanted to be involved in live theatre but never had the time or thought experience was necessary. Come out and join the Battlefords Community Players. We are open to everyone and welcome new members at any time. Remember there is more to community theatre than acting, we also need people to build sets, create costumes or who might just like to help by working backstage or front of house. Don’t know, not sure, we can mentor.

Battlefords Community Players have been part of the scene in the Battlefords since 1952. The club is one of the oldest in the province and the first to bring supper theatre to Saskatchewan audiences. The club traditionally presents three or four productions each year and will often work with other groups in partnership to present a wide variety of experiences to the community. The club has been the first to produce many new plays for first time and emerging writers – some with great success others not so much. We have also produced many productions written by local writers that have been very successful.

BCP traditionally offers a 3 or 4 play season on a subscription basis, as well as smaller, more intimate, productions at our clubhouse in Battleford.

Individual tickets are available to all our productions and we offer dinner theatre and show only options.

The 2017 - 2018 season should be announced by the end of June, 2017 and our previous patrons will get first opportunity to renew their subscription. Regular tickets and new subscribers will have ample opportunity to purchase tickets before the first show opens or throughout the year by calling 306-446-3133.

Battlefords Duplicate Bridge Club The Battlefords Duplicate Bridge Club is in its 48th year of operation.

Bridge is an intellectual game, one of the most popular card games worldwide and is believed to slow the process of dementia.

One session of bridge is played weekly on Thursdays, 7:00 p.m.

Six weeks of lessons are given in the fall on Tuesdays. (Date to be announced).

Bridge games continue through the year on Tuesdays 10:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. Bagged lunch at noon. Free coffee and snacks at all sessions.

The Battlefords Duplicate Bridge Club is an affiliated club with the American Contract Bridge League in Horn Lake, Ms. (ACBL), headquarters for all North American clubs.

Our club is affiliated with Horseshoe Saskatchewan Inc. and receive some funding from them for member assistance to travel to tournaments.

We hold one sanctioned tournament in North Battleford every year but other clubs in the province also hold tournaments throughout the season for players who wish to compete. Our windup in the fall consist of some games of doubles, presentation of various awards and supper to be enjoyed by all.

Battlefords Kiwanis Music Festival Association

The goals of the Society are to promote both the performance and education of Jazz and other musical styles in the Battlefords. We host at least four events annually where we bring in live musical entertainers in either a concert or cabaret style. We also assist in the education of Jazz through workshops and clinics.

The Battlefords Kiwanis Music Festival Association held its first festival on May 2, 1932 under the affiliation of the Saskatchewan Music Festival Association. The festival was held in the Legion Hall with 80 entries.

The president was Ira Lawrence and the secretary was G. Alex Kevin.

North Battleford hosted a Northern District Festival in the spring of 1925 in the Arena Skating Rink. This point of interest gives some indication as to the extent of early musical interest in The Battlefords and area.

In 2011 our 80th anniversary was celebrated. Our festival is one of the few that carries the distinction of conducting continued festivals for 70 years. The objective of our association is to encourage musical growth and development.The festival gives young people an opportunity to perform in public, compete with others their own age and benefit from the suggestions given by the adjudicators.

Our committee consists of many dedicated volunteers who help to coordinate the festival. Financial assistance and awards are donated by service clubs, businesses and individuals as well as by the City of North Battleford and the Town of Battleford.

Five general meetings are held per year and any interested persons are welcome to attend.

Battlefords Lawn Bowling Club The Battlefords Lawn Bowling Club was formed on May 24, 1978. In 1979 the club affiliated with the Provincial and Canadian Lawn Bowling Association.

The purpose of the club is to provide lawn bowling opportunities for members wishing to participate for recreation, fellowship and to prepare themselves for competitive lawn bowling.

This sport is open to people of all ages - young and not so young.

Our members compete in tournaments in Saskatoon and exchange Fun Days with Saskatoon Clubs, Nutana and Mayfair.

We bowl Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 6:45 p.m. at 1901 - 106th Street weather permitting.

Membership fee for the whole season, a possible 60 games is $45.00, $40.00 for juniors. Prospective members are allowed two free trial evenings. Members are not committed to attend every time, but whenever the wish to come out to bowl.

www.northstars.ca The Battlefords North Stars are one of 12 teams, which compete in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.The North Stars take pride in providing the community with entertainment and a high calibre brand of hockey. Since 1973, the Battlefords have been home to a junior hockey franchise and are proud to have some of the most loyal and enthusiastic fans in the league.

The North Stars appreciate the support of the community and do what they can to give back to the community. That often includes visits to schools and senior homes in the Battlefords, volunteering for charity events and fundraising and being positive role models in the community. The North Stars instill the values of courage, commitment and community to all their players. The team is made up of players 16 to 20 years old from the Battlefords and other locations from across North America.

The operation of the hockey club is done through the efforts of a large group of volunteers, billets who open their homes and an elected board of directors.

Battlefords Registered Music Teachers’ Association Since its founding in 1948, the Battlefords branch of the Saskatchewan Registered Music Teachers Association has been actively concerned and involved in the provision of quality music education. Active members of the association reside in Glenbush, Cut Knife, Spiritwood, Unity, Battleford, North Battleford and surrounding rural areas.

The members frequently serve their communities as church organists, accompanists, guest soloists, playing for weddings and funerals.Teachers also prepare students for music festivals, examinations and public recitals.

At least one degree from a recognized educational institution must be obtained before becoming a full member of the association.

Because of affiliation with the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers Association, students of Registered Music Teachers have special opportunities to achieve experience in music writing competitions conducted nationally. Students who perform can take part in auditions for the Young Artist Series. Winners of this competition will perform a series of concerts on a tour which is hosted by the Registered Music Teachers Association.

Battlefords Skating Club The Battlefords Skating Club is a great place for children of all ages to come and learn how to skate.The club offers learn to skate for children age 3 -5 years, CanSkate and StarSkate programs to skaters from the Battlefords and surrounding areas.

The programs are offered Monday through Saturday at various rinks in the Battlefords from September- March. Registration is held in late August as well as throughout the season.

Battlefords Sailing Club is a non-profit organization which offers many lake recreational opportunities including sailing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. Club members enjoy liberal access to one of the finest sailing facilities in Saskatchewan and they enjoy free use of Club owned boats. The clubhouse is located on the lakefront, on the east edge of the village of Meota adjacent to the Regional Park and the Meota golf course. The facility boasts a spacious deck with BBQ meeting area, modern kitchen, full washrooms with hot showers, access for sailboat lifts, a lawn area and a wide sandy beach.

Battlefords Ukrainian Seniors Society Branch No. 184 The Battlefords Ukrainian Seniors Society Branch No. 184 was first organized October 1977. The purpose was to get Ukrainian Canadians together for recreation and socialization. Having no permanent home, the basements of the two Ukrainian churches were put to use, alternating every Wednesday for readings, cards, singing and general socializing. In January 1980, we acquired the former band hall, started dismantling on January 14, 1980 and in three days time had it moved to our present location at 792 - 108 Street.

Through the generosity of our people and the great amount of volunteer labor by so many we now have a building that is paid for, which serves many purposes and we are very proud to show it off.

The seniors gather once a week on Tuesday afternoon for socializing, enjoy playing cards, dancing and having pot luck suppers. Every month we have a meeting at the Battlefords Ukrainian Seniors Hall. The last Monday of every second month we celebrate birthdays with a supper.

Ladies also do crafts.

We gather for suppers with others for certain celebrations such as Ukrainian New Year, Ukrainian Heritage Day and any other occasion that warrants such a supper.

Films, slides and guest speakers also are hosted. Many workshops are held to keep up our heritage. The hall is also used by the Svoboda Dancers and The Ukrainian Cultural Society with whom we are closely associated, and the Ukrainian Studies Group.

We do not receive any grants.

Battlefords Vintage Auto Club Inc. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Battlefords Vintage Auto Club House.

The club is organized to develop interest in the restoration and preservation of vintage and special interest automobiles, to promote fellowship, and to encourage the working together of members and their families in their social and automotive interests. You do not have to own a vintage vehicle. Anyone with any vehicle is welcome to join.

Memberships are for the year January 1 to December 31 and are $30.

They must be paid by March 1 of each year to register for members’ to be included in the current roster.

The Battlefords Vintage Automobile Club is a member of the Saskatchewan Association of Automobile Clubs Corporation, and also of the National Association of Automobile Clubs of Canada Corporation.

Battlefords Wildlife Federation

More than 75 years ago a group of hunters and fisherman got together and formed an organization to stop excessive hunting and to slow down the depletion of habitat for wildlife, and to establish controls on over fishing.

This organization eventually became known as The Battlefords Wildlife Federation. At the present time there are over 400 members.

In 1975 the Battlefords Wildlife Federation in conjunction with The City of North Battleford, Ducks Unlimited and McMillan Brothers embarked on one of its most exciting and successful undertakings, “The Goose Nesting Project”.This is located within the city limits in the North Saskatchewan River valley. The two basins cover 135 acres. An average of 50 pairs of Canada Geese nest here each year, with a yearly hatch of over 200 goslings.This wetland also provides habitat for numerous other species both migratory and local. It is a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. A viewing tower and platforms have been built to provide magnificent opportunities to see wildlife up close.

In 1999 the Battlefords Wildlife Federation entered into a long term agreement with the City of North Battleford on use of the vacant water slide facility and have developed it into an interpretive centre.The purpose is to enhancement of wildlife habitat and youth education in outdoor and conservation fields.

Displays exhibited this year are: • a 42-foot display of taxidermy specimens fitting into the backdrop mural of three landscapes — prairie, shoreline and forest; • a display of how animals are adapted to habitats; • an egg collection from over 50 types of birds; • live aquatic tank; interpreting the life of various water insects; • large forest predators. Interpreting their value in the balance of nature; • a Sportsman Den, explaining what role hunters and fishermen play; • a video camera on location on an island in the goose nesting project monitored inside the interpretive centre, allowing visitors to view wildlife up close without disturbing it; • one section has an exhibit of 124 processed plants that grow in the river valley; • on the hillsides are walkways where you can observe identified natural plant life, flower gardens and an aquatic pond.

This building also houses an indoor shooting range. It is certified and licensed for target shooting handguns and 22 rim fire rifles. Supervised “handgun shoots” are held Thursday evenings 7 to 10 p.m. For more information call Jim at 306-446-0407 or Kevin at 306-445-5680.

Hunter Education and Firearm Safety courses are held in September and January. Each course lasts approximately six weeks. Classes are taught Monday and Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.To register call Galen Loy 306-937-7734 or pick up application at Ministry of Environment office.

Supper meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., except July and August, at the Battlefords Wildlife Federation Building. Everybody is welcome.

City of North Battleford Historic Archives The City of North Battleford Historic Archives was established in 1989 and works at collecting materials that are original, unique and mostly unpublished items which are judged to be of permanent historical significance. Archival records may be in any medium, they include photographs, maps, architectural drawings, video/audio cassettes and digital formats. Our collection illustrates issues of administrative, legal historical or cultural significance to the development of the City of North Battleford and surrounding area. All holdings are preserved and recorded according to Provincial archival standards.

Along with the responsibility of collection and preservation of historical documents which are maintained in a central repository, the City of North Battleford Historic Achieves takes this material accessible to the public.The accessions of the Archives are housed in the Don Ross Centre, Room 111. The Archives is staffed by a part-time Archivists who may be contacted by calling 306-445-1786. Club DJ Trinity Baptist Church Club DJ is our church children’s club program designed for children from kindergarten to Grade 6. Our motto in Club DJ is “Hearts That Desire To Please God” and our aim is to encourage children to have hearts that desire to please the Lord. We truly believe that is we would raise up a generation with such hearts that we would begin to see things happen in our nation that would have no explanation, except that God did it!

Club DJ is based on the covenant relationship between two friends David and Jonathan. We read about them in the book of I Samuel.

David was a shepherd boy, the youngest in a family of eight boys and Jonathan was a prince, son of King Saul. Everyone would have thought that Jonathan would be king but God had other plans. Instead, God chose David to be the next king of Israel.You might think that Jonathan would be jealous, but instead, Jonathan made a covenant with David and promised to do al he could to help David become all that God wanted him to be. What a friend! Jonathan gave up all he had for David’s sake, and the Bible says David became a man after God’s own heart and that the Lord was with him.

We want the children to know they also have a friend who gave up all He had to see them become all God wants them to be. Jesus, the Son of God, left His home in Heaven to come to earth as a little baby.

He died and rose again to make a way for each child to have a personal relationship with Him, so they can become all God wants them to be.

What a Friend!

Saskatchewan is part of the pothole region that spans Canada’s southern prairies and is known throughout North America as a unique jurisdiction for waterfowl. The many small wetlands that dot this landscape make it especially attractive to the waterfowl that migrate to Saskatchewan each spring to breed and rear their young.

Saskatchewan citizens have long valued the ecologically rich landscapes that make up their province and have played a key role in managing habitat for migratory bird species such as waterfowl. DUC’s work with the people of Saskatchewan has been essential in achieving waterfowl habitat goals and preserving those landscapes.

Waterfowl aren’t the only beneficiaries of DUC wetland and habitat conservation efforts – people benefit too. Wetlands are nature’s water filters. Beyond improving habitat for waterfowl and other wildlife, wetlands replenish groundwater sources, purify surface water and offer flood protection and erosion control. All of which contribute to a safe water supply.

Although wetlands are considered nature’s nursery, the stark reality is that much of this habitat has been lost and the remainder continues to be degraded. Up to 70 per cent of Canada’s original wetlands have vanished in settled parts of the country, and more disappear every day.

Girl Guides of Canada - Guides Du Canada The aim of Girl Guides of Canada is to help girls and women become responsible citizens, able to give leadership and service to the community. The girls and leaders meet once a week, where they have fun learning life skills, making friends, doing crafts, going on tours and hikes, singing songs, playing games and going camping. Older girls are eligible to earn high school credits and can apply for university scholarships.

North Battleford City Kinsmen Band The North Battleford City Kinsmen Band is a community band whose mandate is to provide training on woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Anyone in the Battlefords and area ages eight to well over eighty is welcome. The three levels of performing options can accommodate a wide range of music experience. The beginners’ group is for those learning to play an instrument and they meet on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. The intermediate band is for those that are able to play an instrument and are looking for an opportunity to develop those skills.

They meet on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The senior band is for the more experienced players.They meet on Mondays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.The bands meet for weekly practices on the first Monday after Labour Day until the beginning of May. All rehearsals are at the North Battleford City Kinsmen Band Hall, 1801 - 104th Street, North Battleford.

The North Battleford City Kinsmen Band is an amalgamation of the former NBCK youth program and the adults of the Battlefords’ Concert Band. This combination of talents allows anyone aged eight and over to receive top-quality instruction and provides opportunities for public performances. The caliber of music in the Battlefords has long been a source of pride and pleasure to the citizens of the area.

North Battleford Grand Squares Square Dance Club Our 2017 - 2018 square dance season begins on the 4th of October through to the 20th of December, then reconvenes on the 7th of February and ends on the 21st of March. Dancing is at the mainstream level with some plus, depending on the ability of the dancers present.

North Battleford Senior Citizens “Action Now” Club Inc. Our Leisure Centre was opened in October of 1981 and is located at 1501 - 101st Street.We provide sociability and fellowship to seniors 55+ through card games (Kaiser, crib, canasta), shuffleboard, jigsaw puzzles, adult coloring, afternoon yearly kaiser and crib tournaments and kaiser tournaments every 1st and 3rd Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m. Pot luck birthday dinners are held every second month and a catered supper at Christmas.The Centre holds a picnic in July and other social events are held for special occasions.

Northland Power Curling Centre The Northland Power Curling Centre located next to the Dekker Centre in the CUplex opened its doors in October 2012.This spacious and modern two storey building, operated by the Twin Rivers Curling Club, features six sheets of ice, change/locker rooms, meeting rooms and administration offices on the main floor and a fully equipped restaurant and lounge with ice surface viewing on the second level.This facility has year round rental opportunities for car shows, trade shows, wedding receptions, public gatherings and company events such as Christmas socials, curling bonspiels, banquets and workshops.

evening is the Open Competitive League. New to the 2017/18 season will be Doubles curling on Wednesday evenings as well as the possibility of a Ladies Night Out. Friday evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. is Drop-in Curling, open to anyone, singles, families, business or association groups, teams and visitors who just want to throw some rocks for an hour or two.

During the Curling off season from April to the end of September the Northland Power Curling Centre is home to the Battlefords Roller Derby League with practices on Monday and Wednesday.

Throughout the curling season, Twin Rivers Curling Club will be the host to several events, local, regional and provincial that will make great viewing by the public. January will see U16 male and female teams from the Northwest region competing for a spot in the Saskatchewan Winter Games hosted by North Battleford with curling to take place at the Northland Power Curling Centre from February 18 to 24, 2018.

The 87th Annual Women’s Spiel in early February and the Men’s 94th Annual Spiel at the end of March are always a hit with the Curling Community as well as the Tim Horton’s U15 and U18 spiel held in February and the Junior Slam returning for a second year in early December. The Northwest Power Curling Centre and the Twin Rivers Curling Club invites everyone to come “check us out”, watch some exciting curling, enjoy the on-site lounge, have a bite to eat and maybe throw a rock or two.

Northwest Hockey Development Association The NWHDA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting hockey in The Battlefords.

Our main function for raising money to promote hockey is the operation of the Civic Centre concession. All help in operating the concession is volunteer and these volunteers in turn receive funds for their various organizations. The major disbursement is the Jr. A North Stars with funds also going to the Midget AAA North Stars, Midget AA Barons, Bantam AA Barons and Pee Wee AA Barons.

The NWHDA also helps in sponsoring various hockey tournaments.

The Northwest Hockey Development Association plays an integral part of the success of hockey in the Battlefords through their donations.

The Pioneer Association The Pioneer Association began in 1955 and has been active ever since. It owns a small but very well-equipped hall at 702 - 101st Street (South Railway Avenue).

Members are 50 years of age and over and the annual membership fee is $5.00 per person. Membership numbers at the end of 2016 was 78. Any member of 90 years of age qualifies for a lifetime membership.

On the fourth Wednesday of each month a birthday party is held, with a pot-luck supper and a dance with live local music.

There are suppers and dances held for special occasions throughout the year. An Old Time Dance is held the second Friday of each month, October to April inclusive, with live music. Pot-luck lunch to follow.This is open to everyone.

A jam session is held the first Sunday afternoon of each month from September to May. Musicians bring your instruments to play and sing.

Everyone is welcome to come to play, sing, dance or just to listen.

Admission is a silver collection. Pot-luck snacks, coffee and tea available.

The regular general meeting is held in the hall on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m.

The hall is rented regularly by The Bridge Club,The Highland Dancers, The Line Dance Club and for Ballroom Dance Lessons. The Hillcrest Singers now use the hall every Friday afternoon for their singing.

The hall is available for rent, (at the discretion of the executive for meetings, reunions, birthday or anniversary parties and other functions.

Rivers’ Edge Quilters - The Battlefords The Rivers’ Edge Quilt Guild was formed in September 2000 with 14 members and now has an active membership of nearly 40 quilters.

Activities include: monthly business meetings at the Don Ross Center craft room on the first Friday of every month September - May - day long

sewing sessions, usually Thursday, Friday and Saturday, also at the craft room; retreats; classes taught by members at no charge; and projects for donation within the community.

On sewing days, members work on their own projects, take a class from another member, or work on a charity project. Nothing is compulsory, and members can attend as often or as little as they like.

Our skill levels range from beginner to expert, and we are happy to help new quilters learn.

There is a reasonable annual membership fee and all are welcome.

Royal Canadian Air Cadets No. 43 Squadron The goal of the Air Cadet movement is to encourage youth to become better citizens, and to promote an interest in aviation and aerospace industries.

Weekly training includes citizenship, drill, sports, biathlon, marksmanship, target shooting and curling, with classroom instruction on flying, navigation, airframes, meteorology, aero engines and air radio.

Weekend activities include survival training, map and compass orientation, sports weekends, citizenship tours and the central theme of Air Cadets: flying and gliding.

Youth aged 14 to 24 have the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Program, with cadets aged 14 to 18 are able to complete most of the tasks through the squadrons training program.

Cadets are also given the opportunity to attend summer camps at various locations in Canada which include Drill and Ceremonial courses,Technical Training (electronics, airframes, aero engines),Airport Operations, Flying and Gliding to a license standard, and International Exchange to the U.S.A., Europe and Australia if qualified and are chosen.

43 Squadron meets every Wednesday evening at 6:15 p.m. at 792 111th Street, North Battleford from September - June. The program is open to boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 inclusive. The program has no registration fees and training and uniforms are provided.

Royal Canadian Army Cadets No. 2537 The Cadet Program is Canada’s oldest youth movement, first formed in 1829. The Battleford Corp was formed on November 10, 1954. We are a non-profit charity organization that accepts all youth, either male or female ages 12 to 19.

Our goal is to teach self-discipline, confidence, pride, responsibility and a sense of self-worth. The aim is to develop the attributes of good citizenship and leadership and to promote physical fitness.

The Cadet honour code states that as a member of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets, all cadets shall aspire to become citizens of the highest integrity in their community, they shall strive for success in their studies, they shall be considerate of all persons and their property, they shall achieve the highest physical, mental, spiritual and moral standards possible.

Weekly training includes, drill, fundamental training, citizenship, target shooting, map and compass, sports, physical fitness and others. There are occasional weekend exercises that include Bushcraft, Fieldcraft, Communications, Biathlon (cross-country skiing and range) and Orienteering with an added focus on Adventure Challenge.

Cadets have the opportunity to attend a variety of summer training courses across Canada sponsored by the Department of National Defense Cadets can choose from a number of camps and training opportunities ranging from Basis courses in leadership, music, drill and marksmanship.As well the Cadet program offers a number of adventure and expeditions to Cadets including international exchanges to other countries and the opportunity for Cadets to participate in an Expedition on Mount Everest.

Army Cadets meet weekly on Tuesday nights at EMBM School at1651 - 96th Street from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The local training year takes place from September to the end of May with summer training opportunities through June, July and August. The small membership first used the slopes at McMillan’s gravel pit, graduating the following year to supporting a new facility with a rope tow near the hamlet of Prongua in the Eagle Hills.

In the meantime, a group of skiers including Dr. Irwin Zacharias and David Conroy made an air survey of the region and located the ski hill now known as Table Mountain, 12 miles west of Battleford and four miles north and west.

Work began to clear the north facing slope from bush in the fall of 1969.With some $11,000 in capital, guaranteed by 60 North Battleford businessmen,Table Mountain was opened on January 1, 1970. Hundreds

They host family functions, and raise funds to provide equipment, decorate to individualize and humanize patients’ living areas, provide tickets for their recreation and help promote their education.

Battlefords Boys and Girls Club Serving the Battlefords for 40 Years

The Battlefords Boys & Girls Club is a non-profit agency created to provide for the recreational, cultural, educational and social needs of all children 6 - 14 years of age in our community.

We work to provide opportunities where children can socialize with one another in a safe and nurturing environment.

The Battlefords Boys and Girls Club was established in November 1976 and has been serving our community ever since.

Hours of operation are: Monday to Friday - 3:10 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. on Saturdays. We offer after-school, evening and weekend programming six days/ week encouraging nutrition, physical activity and of course, FUN! Battlefords Concern for Youth Battlefords Concern for Youth is a non-profit organization that has been serving the Battlefords since 1989. Battlefords Early Childhood Intervention Program The Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP) is a province-wide network of home and community based services provided to families with children from birth to school-age who experience or are at risk for developmental delays. ECIP’s work to enhance child development, support families, and enhance community connections.

ECIP organizations share the vision that,“All families have the capacity to meet the developmental needs of their children within the community of their choice.”

Children who are involved with ECIP’s are often delayed in reaching age-appropriate, developmental milestones such as walking, talking, eating, manoeuvring, playing or interacting socially. Early Interventionists make referrals to an Early Childhood Psychologist, Speech Pathologist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and others when necessary. Staff begins by building relationships with families and assist them in working toward mutually-identified goals for their children.

Battlefords ECIP first opened its doors in January 1982 and now in 2017 we are celebrating 35 years in the Battlefords. We are a community based organization supporting persons with mental illness, their families, friends and caregivers. CMHA Battlefords

Branch is one of nine branches in Saskatchewan providing direct services, education and mental health/illness community awareness to reduce stigma. Membership is open to all.

We provide the following programs: TEP Training for Employment Program develops work and life skills and employs a team of individuals working in the community.

Each work day, the TEP crew does snow removal, lawn care, yard maintenance, flyer delivery and odd jobs as well as manage a lunch program for members Mondays to Thursdays.

Social/Recreation Program focuses on community involvement, education and advocacy. Activities are offered to members either free or at minimal cost (Christmas Social, monthly dances, seniors program, special events, day trips and extensive summer programs). Social/ Recreational activities are offered four evenings a week, bowling each Saturday, weekend day/overnight trips and a week long summer tour.

Based on the Saskatchewan New Start Model for life skills training, our Life Skills Program assists clients in the development and maintenance of essential daily living skills that may have been lost due to loss of independence, institutionalization and so forth. The Life Skills Program runs Monday and Wednesday morning (except during summer months).

CMHA Battlefords Branch has an innovative partnership with Friends for Life and GAP (Gambling Awareness Program) that provide community awareness and education workshops. A support group for families, friends and caregivers of persons with mental illness meets at our office the last Tuesday of each month (excluding summer months).

The Citizens on Patrol Program is a group of volunteers who work in conjunction with local authorities in the Battleford’s. Our mandate is to act as an extra set of “eyes” and “ears” for the community, patrolling the streets in the city and town.

Patrols are made throughout the day, evening and night in an effort to keep our communities safe and free of criminal activities.

C.O.P.P. members understand the concept and need for confidentiality and adhere to regulations as set down in the C.O.P. program. For safety reasons patrollers are not allowed to go out on patrol alone.

The Battleford’s Citizens on Patrol Program is a member of the Canadian Citizens on Patrol Association.

The CÉF provides the only French first language education in Saskatchewan. The Battleford’s only French first language school. École Père Mercure provides its students with an excellent Francophone education as well as the same English Language Art program as all other schools in Saskatchewan. The program is enriched with cultural and social values aimed at developing proud francophone youth. Citizens on Patrol Program

Edwards Society Inc. (ESI) is a community-based organization.

The primary function is to enhance the quality of life for persons with mental illness, so they may live in the community with greater selfreliance.

We offer family style group home living and supportive services to residents in their own homes. We teach daily living skills, life skills and offer support and guidance, providing quality of life while living as independently as possible.

Participants enter voluntarily into these programs and must be registered with Battlefords Mental Health Services.

Habitat for Humanity - Battlefords Chapter

Our mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting home ownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty.

In November 2012, My First Home Inc. of the Battlefords signed an agreement to operate Habitat for Humanity - The Battlefords, under the umbrella of Habitat Saskatoon. Habitat Saskatoon serves as our mentor and provides full administrative support including sending out tax receipts. This allows the local committee and volunteers to focus on the home build itself.

Homes are built using volunteer labour and donated materials.

Working families who are selected to receive a home must contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” and enter into an affordable and sustainable, no-interest mortgage, held by Habitat Saskatoon.

We have been working hard since breaking ground in 2015 to construct a duplex at 1211 - 106th Street for two families. We are still looking for individuals and businesses/organizations who wish to come out and help with the final stages of the build. Please contact any of the members below to volunteer your time and skills or leave a message on our Facebook page (Habitat for Humanity Saskatoon/ Battlefords Chapter). We gratefully accept volunteers of all skill levels and backgrounds. If you’ve never lifted a hammer or paintbrush we’ll teach you! If you want to be involved we’ll find a job that works for you.

Kanaweyimik Child & Family Services Inc. Kanaweyimik Child and Family Services Inc. was established in 1994 to provide child and family services for First Nation communities.

Kanaweyimik currently serves the communities of Moosomin, Mosquito, Red Pheasant, Sweet Grass and Saulteaux First Nations. Most recently in 2014, Kanaweyimik started to provide prevention services for children and families in the Battlefords and surrounding areas.

Prevention Program Kanaweyimik provides individual/family support provided by professional staff; community wide activities coordinated by Local Advisory Committees and supported by Activity Coordinator; youth intervention services to provide youth with opportunities to participate in healthy and cultural activities; and counselling/treatment provided through the Family Violence Program and Kana-wey-dey-tan Program (addictions program).

Emergency worker can be contacted by calling 306-445-3500 Urban Services Program Kanaweyimik provides prevention services and emergency foster care for urban children and families. A unit of 3 workers provides these services to children and families living in the urban areas.

We operate 2 emergency foster homes that take children on as needed basis after work hours, weekends and holidays. There are 4 beds in each home.

We also provide a visitation program for children in care of Social Services. Kanaweyimik coordinates visits for children in care and their families. This program has 3 staff and operates a duplex where visits occur in a home environment.

Family Violence prevention services are provided for individuals experiencing domestic violence. Weekly group sessions for men and women occur. This program also services the Battlefords Domestic Violence Treatment Option court.

Prairie Employment Program Inc. (1977) (PEP) is a non-profit community-based organization which is governed by a local board of directors. PEP is funded by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Economy (ECON) and the Government of Canada through Service Canada (SC).

PEP’s mandate is to assist clients by establishing realistic employment goals, designing programs focused on solid outcomes and providing follow-up services and supports to ensure long-term success in the workforce.

Prairie Employment Program works with unemployed individuals sixteen and over who offer a variety of skills and are seeking employment.

Through the dynamics of one-to-one counselling and the Skills Training Employability Plan (STEP) employment continuum, the agency provides services to facilitate career decision making, skills enhancement, employment preparation, work experience and work assessments. Along the STEP stairway, the agency offers an array of employment supports through the CAPACITIES Project which assist persons with disabilities and barriers to participate as fully as possible in the labour market. The ultimate goal is that persons with disabilities enjoy increased economic independence with enhanced well-being in the Battlefords and region. In view of this all-important societal goal, Prairie Employment Program is strongly committed to assist people who are experiencing serious difficulty obtaining and maintaining employment.

Playtime Co-operative Childcare This non-profit parent co-operative is licensed to provide childcare services for 73 children aged six weeks to 12 years. The centre is open 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Playtime Childcare provides full-time, part-time and drop-in childcare services.

Arrangements can be made for school age children up to 12 years of age to come for noon lunch as well as before and after school.

Daily, pre-kindergarten skills are learned. All activities are designed with each individual child’s needs in mind. We do this by combining a learn through play and informal instruction philosophy. Programming is developed and implemented by staff trained in Early Childhood Education.

Children with special needs are integrated within the center and individual programs designed specifically for each child allow them to participate in all areas.

A 156 bed psychiatric rehabilitation facility serving the entire province. Comprehensive multidisciplinary programs are provide in four areas: psychiatric rehabilitation, forensic, transitional and specialized rehabilitation.The 25 bed forensic unit with referrals through the justice

system is part of Saskatchewan Hospital operations.

POPULATION HEALTH SERVICES Population Health Services (also known as Community/Public Health Services) emphasizes early intervention, health education and health promotion/disease prevention. Services include: Region’s Medical Health Officer, communicable disease and infection control, public health inspection and environmental health, public health nursing, public health nutrition, dental health education, podiatry, early childhood psychology, speech and language pathology, parent mentoring, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. PRIMARY HEALTH SERVICES Battlefords Family Health Centre Prairie North Health Region (PHNR) partners with Battle River Treaty 6 for the provision of Primary Health Care services at Battlefords Family Health Centre in downtown North Battleford. Services at Battlefords Family Health Centre are available to the whole community. Services include: two Physicians and a Nurse Practitioner; Diabetes Prevention and Education; Mental Health; KidsFirst; Circle of Learning and Sexual Health Clinic. • Laboratory Service Centre The PHC North Battleford Medical Clinic offers the services of physicians and nurse practitioners, all of whom practice medicine under the primary care model. Services are available by appointment, same day appointments are available if patients call at 8:30 a.m. The service has ready access to the variety of health services available through Population Health which is located at the same site. The emphasis is on appropriate health care from appropriate health care providers.

The Laboratory Service Centre is another element located at the Primary Health Centre.The PHC Laboratory is the main collection site in The Battlefords for blood and other specimens ordered by physicians from patients in the community. Electrocardiograph (ECG) service is also located at the site.

St. John Training Centre North Battleford

St John Ambulance is a non- profit, charitable organization that is over 900 years old.

Mission Statement: To enable Canadians to improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing training and community service. We carry out our mission through community service, first aid and CPR training.

We provide high quality training by knowledgeable and experienced instructors in First Aid/CPR/AED, Babysitting, Pet First Aid and Personal Care Worker courses.

St. John Ambulance also carries all your first aid supply needs everything from bandages to Automated External Defibrillators. During our courses, students receive a 10% discount when they purchase first aid kits and/or CPR barrier devices.

St. John has Volunteer Medical First Responder Units that provide first aid coverage and support services at public events where our presence is requested. To apply to be a MFR volunteer, you must have a current SJA Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED certificate; as well you would need to have a criminal record check done and two references.

Once approved, we ask you to commit 60 hours of service and training within our community. Medical First Responder training would be provided for you as well as on-going training. We always have room for more volunteers. A recruitment drive for North Battleford volunteers will take place in the near future.

St. John also has a Volunteer Therapy Dog Program. The Therapy

Dog Program is founded upon the belief in the therapeutic benefits of volunteers from the community sharing their dogs with people who are unable to keep a dog of their own. Typical assignments include long term and palliative care facilities, hospitals and schools. During the visit, the dog offers unconditional love and friendship to the sick, the lonely and the helpless. Sharing Grief’s Journey Formerly Griefshare

“Sharing Grief’s Journey” (Formerly Griefshare) is a non-profit support group for those dealing with the pain of having lost a loved one. We meet for 8 weekly sessions. Using the video series call “Griefshare”, and group sharing, we come to see grief as a normal, but at time frustrating and painful experience. There are four cofacilitators who assist in facing the emotions instigated by the sense of loss and loneliness. Each facilitator has either experienced a difficult loss or is experienced in dealing with grief reactions to loss.

Territorial Youth Services is an organization designed to help troubled teens (ages 12-18) with situations and problems in their lives by providing support, direction, etc., to the specified need.

Our day work program provides a means whereby a youth can earn money to pay off fines or restitution through diversified work projects.

At the same time youths are learning work skills, behaviour patterns and discipline which will help him or her in later life. In both programs there is an emphasis on life skills and recreation.
