2026 PARADE HOMES of

presented by

Home at Last...

APRIL 18-19 & APRIL 25-26 | 1-5 p.m.

Everyone love s a parade!

On behalf of the Home Builders Association of Greater Baton Rouge, we are proud to welcome you to this year’s Parade of Homes!

As you tour these beautiful homes, we invite you to do more than simply walk through them—take time to truly experience them. Look closely at the details that make each house unique: the texture of the tile, the finish on the cabinetry, the sparkle of a light fixture, the feel of a perfectly chosen doorknob. Notice the flow of the floorplans, the craftsmanship of the trim, the colors, the landscaping, and the countless thoughtful touches that transform a structure into a home.

Every detail you see represents the work of a talented professional. Our association is proud to have more than 800 members, making us the 25th largest Home Builders Association in the nation. Approximately half of our members are builders—the visionaries who bring homes to life from the ground up. The other half are the experts who make those visions possible: designers and architects who create the plans, suppliers who provide the finishes, and skilled tradespeople who handle everything from framing and painting to lighting, flooring, and landscaping.

The Parade of Homes is truly a celebration of all of them. It highlights not only the latest trends in home design, but also the collaboration, craftsmanship, and dedication that define our local building industry.

Whether you are gathering ideas for your own home, dreaming about your next move, or simply enjoying a weekend experience with family and friends, we hope this year’s Parade inspires you. Pay attention to the details, ask questions, and imagine the possibilities. Every home has a story, and we are honored to share them with you.

Thank you for supporting our members and our industry. We hope you enjoy the Parade of Homes!

Warm regards,

REDEFINING HOME DESIGN

Trends that are shaping the home building industry

From blueprint to reality, dream homes in 2026 are a balance of beauty, comfort and innovation … designed to dazzle but built to last.

New construction isn’t just about square footage. It’s about creating spaces that are smart, resilient, adaptable, and deeply aligned with the ways people live today and in the years ahead.

BUILDERS REDEFINE MODERN LIVING

Home building in 2026 is evolving from cookie-cutter designs toward more intentional, sustainable, and technology-focused living spaces. Homeowners, builders, and architects are responding to lifestyle changes, climate challenges, and shifting priorities that redefine what a modern home should be— and how it’s built.

INDOOR OUTDOOR LIVING

Before we move inside … let’s talk about outdoor spaces, which remain a priority among homeowners.

Seamless indoor-outdoor living is a hallmark of many newly constructed homes, with covered patios, large sliding doors, and outdoor living areas that feel like natural extensions of interior spaces. These features support entertaining, wellness, and connection to nature—a trend that resonates with buyers prioritizing experiences and quality of life.

ECO-FRIENDLY

Sustainability and energy efficiency are extremely important to today's homeowners. Rising energy costs, climate risk, and consumer demand are pushing builders to incorporate eco-friendly design principles from the earliest planning stages. New homes are being designed to maximize natural light and ventilation, and improve heat and AC performance. Low-impact materials like recycled steel, engineered wood, and low-VOC finishes are gaining ground, and some designs strive to create more energy than they consume.

FLEXIBLE FLOORPLANS

As lifestyles shift with multigenerational households and more remote work schedules, single-purpose rooms are giving way to adaptable, multipurpose spaces. This includes home offices, bonus rooms, and “flex” zones that can transform with changing needs … a trend that lets homes remain useful and relevant for longer.

COLOR CODE

After years of stark minimalism, many homeowners and designers are embracing warmer, more expressive styles. Earthy palettes, organic forms, and natural materials have become popular as opposed to monochrome interiors. This trend reflects a deeper desire for homes that feel friendly and welcoming.

SMART & SECURE

Smart systems that were once considered upgrades— from automated lighting and climate control to built-in security, health sensors, and whole-home connectivity— are now expected features in new construction. Smart technology has been integrated into the home’s build phase and buyers in 2026 consider it to be essential for convenience, efficiency, and long-term resale value.

SOLID MATERIALS

As for material selections, there is a renewed emphasis on durability and performance, especially in kitchens. While high-end finishes are still popular, homeowners are choosing products that offer longevity and low maintenance, such as engineered hardwoods, quartz countertops, and larger format tiles. These choices balance beauty with practicality.

CUSTOM BUILT

Builders note that modular and prefab building methods have become more mainstream, which allows them to stick to construction timelines, reduces waste, and improves quality control. Prefabrication also supports customization, allowing homeowners to get personalized designs with less onsite disruption.

Today’s home building landscape reflects a blend of technology, sustainability, and livability. New construction isn’t just about square footage; it’s about creating spaces that are smart, resilient, adaptable, and deeply aligned with the ways people live today and in the years ahead.

Creating beautiful spaces

ProSource, a wholesale flooring company serving both trade professionals and consumers, prides itself on building relationships with its customers.

Whether working with a builder, contractor, remodeling company, interior designer, or homeowner, ProSource’s dedicated account managers consider each project unique. While they specialize in kitchen and bathroom products, the company offers almost anything a trade professional, builder or remodeler might need.

“Whether you are replacing your flooring or your kitchen cabinets, ProSource will discuss the scope of your project to better understand your needs,” says Mike Price, showroom manager for Baton Rouge, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024.

ProSource boasts a large showroom at

each of its seven Louisiana locations and its stores in Mobile, Alabama, and Jackson, Mississippi. Each location also has a kitchen and bath showroom for those specific products. Price says all of these showrooms have one of the widest selections of high-quality flooring available, and customers can borrow samples for 48 hours at no charge.

The showrooms feature design stations where customers can meet with their dedicated account managers and see a visual representation of their design. Account managers are a major part of the company’s success. They have extensive knowledge of flooring and keep current through in-house and nationally provided training.

There are 10 account managers between the Baton Rouge and Gonzales locations, and they have access to just about every product you can think of, says Price. “They are not just

selling you something, but learning about, understanding, and helping with the complete project,” he adds.

Each account manager’s approach may differ slightly depending on whether they are serving a homeowner or a trade professional, but in any situation, they bring all their expertise to help create beautiful spaces.

As for trends, Price lists a few. Surfaces are getting more textured and organic, he says, with matte finishes rather than smooth and glossy. People are picking bolder and warmer colors, but shades of gray are not as popular. Homeowners are also choosing quartzite and porcelain countertops as an alternative to marble.

Whatever trend or idea you want to explore, you will find it at your local ProSource showroom.

Before you know it, you could be entering your dream home. The 2026 Parade of Homes showcases dozens of incredible homes and properties that feature the latest in innovation, technology and design—from spacious floorplans and gourmet kitchens to lavish master suites and custom pools. Living the dream!

More and more homeowners are living the dream by embracing warm and personal design that feels comfortable and inviting. While certain styles seem here to stay, such as open floorplans and outdoor living areas, home builders are adding special structural touches that can transform a standard house into a customized, high-end home.

Architectural accents

Coffered or tray ceilings add dimension, especially in living rooms and master bedrooms. Wood beams (stained or painted) can create a rustic feel while adding warmth to any space. Built-in shelving and custom benches add interest and functionality, especially to entertainment centers. Other special touches include accent walls, upgraded cabinet hardware, decorative interior doors, and shutters and column wraps.

Here are other ways to take a home from “desirable” to “dream" status.

Private retreats

The master bed and bath has become a virtual sanctuary, a place to get away from the stress and pressures of the day, and instead, relax and rejuvenate in your own private retreat. That means plenty of spa-like amenities, including large showers, soaking tubs, reading nooks, and custom-walk-in closets. Details are layered intentionally with soft textures, warm colors, and cozy furniture placement.

Inside out

Indoor-outdoor living is another must for many homeowners. That means floor-to-ceiling glass that invites natural light, covered patios with full outdoor kitchens, fire pits and conversation areas, and sliding glass or

accordion doors that seamlessly flow from indoors to outdoors. These spaces increase a home’s value and provide an enhanced entertaining space for celebrations, parties and casual get-togethers.

Customized kitchens

In a recent survey conducted by the National Association of Home Buyers, 80 percent of respondents listed these kitchen features as essential or highly desirable: a walk-in pantry, a double sink, pull-out shelves, a central island and a granite or natural stone countertop. Other items on the wish list include a customized backsplash, recessed lighting and drinking water filtration. Kitchen impressions are often the most important in the home buying journey. After all, they are the heart of the home … they are not just for preparing meals, but are considered a social space for families and friends to spend time together.

The family room

Family room trends in 2026 focus on comfort with a “lived in” feel. Furniture, accessories and décor depend on the home buyer’s budget and taste, but certain features often seal the deal: built-in bookcases, a fireplace, wood flooring, attractive light fixtures, and windows that allow natural light to bathe the room. Colors have moved toward warmer shades and furniture features low-profile silhouettes, rounded edges, modular design, and plush cushioning.

Bathed in beauty

Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, the bathroom should offer a place of solitude and relaxation … a quiet space to be alone and unwind from a long day. Popular features include ceramic tile walls, a granite vanity, linen closet, multiple shower heads, garden tubs, and a double vanity in the primary bath.

The ‘smart’ home

Convenience and connection are important to many home buyers, so smart home technology is essential. This includes security cameras, alarm systems, smart appliances, air quality sensors, mobile apps and voice control devices, and home automation features for TV streaming, cable, internet and Wi-Fi.

Décor galore

Certain details just create a positive vibe—for instance, natural materials like stone, ceramic, and wood; and wallpaper patterns that effortlessly elevate your space with floral patterns, marbled motifs, Art-Deco influences, and dimensional designs.

Polished Perfection: Choosing the right countertops

It’s hard to overstate the importance of a countertop to a kitchen. This is where you stir the pancake batter for a family breakfast. Where you chop vegetables for dinner parties. Where you unload the grocery bags after a long day. But it’s also the spot you gather around with friends. Where your middle-schooler does her homework. Where you make memories over a charcuterie board or a glass of wine.

So choosing the right countertop material—one that suits your style while also accommodating the way you live—is a critical part of the kitchen design process during new construction or renovation. That’s why so many homeowners turn to Menzie Stone Company, a leading provider, fabricator and installer of natural and manufactured stone. Founded in 1955 and celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, Menzie is a one-stop shop for countertops for kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor areas, and more.

“Our technology sets us apart,” says regional manager Jeremy Blackstock. “Our on-site fabrication facility contains the latest high-tech machinery for fabrication and edge finishing. This allows us to be very precise and efficient in achieving the best results. And one of the newest technologies we have added at Menzie Stone is having integrated wireless charging stations for countertops—customers are loving it!”

Menzie’s focus on customer service means its team is ready to walk homeowners through the entire process, from selecting a stone to installation. The company’s 5,000-square-foot showroom contains a wide variety of stone products, and its 12,000-square-foot warehouse is stocked with more than 800 slabs.

Here are some of Blackstock’s top tips for selecting the ideal countertop for your space:

1. Pick the countertop first. The countertop will set the tone for the rest of the space, so start there before moving to flooring and wall color. It’s easier to match a paint color to a countertop than vice-versa.

2. Consider natural versus manufactured stone. Menzie offers both, and each has advantages. Natural stones like marble, quartzite or granite can have beautiful veining and unique details, while manufactured stones such as quartz can be more uniform and can be easier to maintain.

3. Think about how you’ll use the surface. Avid cooks may want to avoid porous materials like marble that can etch easily in the kitchen, and many choose quartzite for this area. Marble can be stunning in a space such as a bathroom. With its durability, granite is great for outdoor kitchens.

4. Find the right finish. Many natural stones are available with a polished or leathered finish. Leathered finishes resist fingerprints and smudges, while the glossy look of a polished finish can bring out the beauty in a stone.

5. Know your budget. Menzie offers countertops to meet any budget. “We stock many different items in different finishes and can also order from local slab yards,” Blackstock says.

“We do everything we can to educate customers about the process and really listen to their needs so we can recommend the best products for them,” Blackstock says. “Even after installation, customer care is very important. We make sure everything is of the highest quality.”
