BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION GROUP

FACES OF EDUCATION

CASSIE BRADFORD AND RENEE COLE launched the Behavioral Intervention Group in 2007 after realizing how difficult and expensive it was for families in Louisiana to receive qualified behavior analysis services. They say the best part of their job is to see the growth and progress each child makes. “Watching a child learn something for the first time or use a skill that you just taught them is an amazing experience,”

says Cole. She enjoys mentoring her staff and teaching them to apply and use their classroom in the real world to teach children with autism. Bradford loves spending time with parents of children recently diagnosed with autism to help put them at ease. “I truly love sharing with them how we are here to support them from the time they contact us to the time we are helping transition their child to a classroom setting,” she says.

DIGIULIO BROTHERS ITALIAN CAFÉ

DIGIULIO BROTHERS ITALIAN CAFÉ is a beloved neighborhood staple near LSU in the Perkins Road merchant district. Since 1987, the restaurant has been well known for its traditional Italian cuisine, friendly staff and cozy family environment. Long-time regular customers enjoy dining where everyone knows their name, and now several generations of customers are regulars in the familiar café.

DiGiulio’s offers dishes such as five cheese lasagna with a large meatball, pizzas, classic veal Italian dishes, fresh seafood fare, Italian wines and crafted cocktails. It has remained a family business through the years, and current owners are Mike Johnson and his wife Raina DiGiulio Johnson. Their two daughters, Skylar and Aldyn, work at the family restaurant where their parents met.

TRANSFORMATIVE HEALTH CENTER specializes in medical marijuana evaluations and recommendations for Louisiana patients with anxiety, pain, insomnia, PTSD, migraines, and other common debilitating conditions. Dr. Rome Sherrod started Transformative after witnessing the effects of opioid addictions and drug misuse. He saw the need for safer alternatives for conditions that impact everyone from grandma with arthritis, to mothers plagued by anxiety, to high stressed executives suffering with insomnia.

ANA COUTURE is a Certified Athletic Trainer and Licensed Massage Therapist who founded Trifecta Sports Therapy in 2014. Previously an athletic trainer at LSU, her vision was to integrate sports medicine into a clinical massage therapy setting. She has built a strong team that provides not just massage therapy, but infrared sauna, compression therapy, and mobility and recovery classes. CORY COUTURE , also an athletic trainer, recently joined the team, bringing exercisebased services to Trifecta and helping the company reach its goal of overall wellness for its clients.

Mobility services are assessment-based and data-driven for individualized programming. Exercise routines can be done at home or in the new performance area. For golfers, Cory offers a Golf Performance Assessment using a golf simulator that measures physical efficiency during a person’s swing and includes an individualized exercise plan for improvement.

THE BONE AND JOINT CLINIC OF BATON ROUGE (BJCBR) opened its doors in 1948 as the area’s first orthopedic clinic, focusing on exceptional, dedicated orthopedic care from highly trained specialists. Seventy-five years later, that focus remains the same, and with the long-standing support of the community, the care has expanded greatly.

Today, BJCBR has five clinic locations in Baton Rouge, Brusly, Hammond, Prairieville, and Walker. It is home to nearly

200 specialized employees, including 17 orthopedic, pain management and podiatric specialists, nine licensed physician assistants, six licensed nurse practitioners, eight physical and occupational therapy specialists, certified orthopedic technicians, and radiological technologists. TRICHELL LAW FIRM has built itself from the ground up since opening in 2018. Chase Trichell, now in his eighth year practicing law, was originally TLF’s only full-time employee. Never taking a case too big or too small, this little-firm-that-could parlayed a great clientele and an extraordinary work ethic into exceptional results for tort victims. From implementing a paper-free business, to establishing a robust social media presence, to sleeping on his office couch in the early days, Trichell has since forced recoveries of at least $1 million in half a dozen cases, the most recent via trial verdict earlier this month.

Trichell, still just 34, was selected to the exclusive 2023 Super Lawyers Rising Stars list and was also named one of Louisiana’s Top 40 Under 40 attorneys by The National Trial Lawyers. TLF, seizing on self-made momentum, now employs multiple attorneys and just purchased new office headquarters in April 2023 at 610 Napoleon St. in historic Beauregard Town. Now a staple in the legal community, TLF has solidified itself as one of the most energetic and creative civil litigation firms in Louisiana.

CANGELOSI DANCE PROJECT

FACES OF PERFORMING ARTS

THE CANGELOSI DANCE PROJECT is a distinguished dance academy dedicated to classical ballet training and contemporary dance styles that emphasize a codified vocabulary for each dance subject. The Baton Rouge-based, nonprofit organization focuses on refining the dancers’ skills through precise techniques to make every single movement cohesive.

Along with this special attention to technique, the director offers several valuable performance opportunities to the company students enrolled in the intensive program. The Company performs their popular annual Holiday Nutcracker, which the director wrote, created, and choreographed (her version) using the traditional classical Tchaikovsky musical

score. Additional community performances include EBR Libraries, Big Buddy summer program, retirement homes, downtown festivals, and charity events.

The Cangelosi Dance Project has three student performance companies that present more than 10 main shows a year and offers additional dance educational programs with invited in-house professional master teachers, and travels to regional and national dance conventions with competitions. Owner Kris Cangelosi assures her dancers receive the best training for potential future careers in dance by providing resources for a college with a dance degree, professional dance companies, modeling, TV/film, dance crews, or the opportunity to one day be asked to be a star dancer for the Big Buddy Program.

CANCER IS one of the most feared words in the English language, and yet it remains one of the most poorly understood. In the modern world of tech and information access, pre-existing notions still encumber prevention as well as treatment for patients across the country. Using social media as a learning tool (@TheOncDoc), Dr. Sanjay Juneja has been able to address, explain and clarify many misunderstandings regarding cancer. As the host of Target: Cancer Podcast, Dr. Juneja’s guests include Pulitzer Prize winner Dr. Sid Mukherjee, the White House’s first appointed Director of the Cancer Moonshot

initiative, the CMO of WebMD, Google’s current Director of AI, and several other leaders and innovators in the cancer sphere. His hope is to educate people so they are more comfortable and confident rather than fearful regarding cancer’s misconceptions—for example, that all cancers require chemotherapy, that eating and living healthfully will overcome the necessity of screening, or that cancer is an inherited process only in those with a family history of the disease. Hearing experts discuss ways to reduce the risks of cancer ultimately encourages and empowers people everywhere.
