McAllister of the Year for the 2019-2020 term. This award recognizes a division director whose dedication, commitment and district team significantly contributed toward achieving the district mission. McAllister, a product integrity adviser at ExxonMobil Port Allen Lubricants/Aviation Plant, joined Toastmasters in October 2016. Mark Batzer, an LSU Boyd Professor and the Dr. Mary Lou Applewhite Distinguished Professor with the Department of Biological Sciences at LSU, is among 38 academic inventors named to the August 2020 class of the National Academy of Inventors senior members. His research interests include comparative and evolutionary genomics, mobile element biology, computational biology and forensic genomics.

Phelps litigation partner Michael Hunt has been appointed to a threeyear term on the ABA Standing Committee

Hunt on the Federal Judiciary. The committee evaluates all federal judicial nominees and provides ratings to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Hunt will represent the Fifth Circuit, which includes Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

African American Museum

in Donaldsonville to support the restoration of the museum’s historic Rosenwald School building. When completed, the structure will house the RRAAM Rosenwald School for Education, Culture and History, which will provide a modern space for museum visitors and school groups to explore the important role of African Americans in the region’s history. The facility will also enhance the museum’s ability to provide science, technology, engineering, art, and math programing in addition to cultural events.
