WHAT CHALLENGES HAVE YOU FACED DUE TO COVID-19 AND WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM THEM? The biggest challenge we have faced would be the increase in lumber prices. Total transparency with our clients from beginning to end is key to helping us explain the fluctuations. A second struggle has been the additional lead time on materials. We have had to adapt our schedule to make sure that as soon as selections are chosen, they are ordered in a timely manner.

ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING PLANS OR DREAM PROJECTS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE? We are currently building some unique custom homes in The Sanctuary near Tiger Bend and Babin Roads. Corbin Ladner, the subdivision’s developer, did an amazing job with the details and it has drawn a lot of attention in the past couple of months. Also, we have some unique custom homes going up in Greater Baton Rouge and surrounding areas, and we cannot wait to see the finished products.

Construction materials and equipment have become more expensive and harder to come by and we have a higher than usual demand with a lot of people working from home. We have had to completely adapt to the new hurry and wait process. It has taught us patience and we have returned to the way business should be … with community supporting each other’s businesses and buying more locally.

COVID brought about several changes in the real estate market that were a long time coming. It has been wonderful to see technology play a bigger role in the transaction of back-office tasks while still maintaining a personal experience with the client. Our company is much more streamlined with more emphasis than ever before on the client experience. We try to provide high-end service that leaves a lasting impression and produces generational business from the parents to the kids to their grandkids.

We wanted to ensure that they would be paid during the pandemic and by the grace of God, they were. As time went by, we found that our business was going to be fine. We consider ourselves extremely blessed and we pray for those who have been hit much harder than we were.

We create millwork designs, suggested reflected ceiling plans and electrical plans. We develop contract documents and spec books and manage construction coordination and consulting. Our team selects, prepares and procures furniture bid packages and does furniture installation and interior product staging.

WHAT CHALLENGES HAVE YOU FACED DUE TO COVID-19 AND WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM THEM?

As a professional interior design firm, we were considered an essential business along with the construction industry. From our commercial design division, it was critical for us to design and provide contract documents to the contractors to build, and from our residential design division, with so many people quarantining or working from home, home renovations sky-rocketed.

ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING PLANS OR DREAM PROJECTS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE? We are very excited about some fabulous residential projects we’re working on in quintessential Baton Rouge neighborhoods. We also have had a vacation condo in Orange Beach that suffered hurricane damage and we’re elated to have that completed (again). Our team would love to expand our business to the vacation home market along the Gulf Coast and beyond. And in the multifamily world, we have two Baton Rouge projects in the works that are going to be wonderful for the community.
