Hillary Wienpahl RN, MS, CGC HILLARY WAS BORN and raised in a small town in Colorado. She received her B.S. in nursing from Colorado Mesa University in 2007, after which she worked in Austin, Texas, for several years. Her nursing experience includes medical/surgical nursing, high-risk labor & delivery, pediatrics, and women’s health.

In 2012 she returned to Colorado and continued her nursing career. While working at an OB/GYN office, she realized her favorite part of her visits with patients was talking about options for genetic testing, so she decided to return to school to pursue a career in genetics. In 2017 she graduated with her M.S. in genetic counseling from the University of Colorado Denver.

She currently works primarily in hereditary cancer genetics, but she maintains interest in high-risk prenatal and pediatric genetics as well. She enjoys helping people learn about and adapt to health challenges related to genetic conditions. She is engaged to a Baton Rouge native who also works in health care. Her hobbies include running, hiking, traveling and spending as much time as possible with her golden retriever, Molly.

PAIN IS COMPLEX, poorly understood, and unfortunately very common, affecting millions of people every year. Not only are those suffering from pain affected but so are their family members, co-workers and friends. Acute pain involves specific nerve or tissue damage and is often treated easily if addressed promptly with conservative therapy, physical therapy, anti-neuropathic and anti-inflammatory medications, and/or interventional therapies. However, if this acute pain evolves into chronic pain, the pain pathways and treatment therapies become much more complex.

Chronic pain involves the physical and psychological systems, both conscious and subconscious, and is influenced by numerous factors including genetics, other health conditions, emotional and social factors, and the individual response to pain. Yet all too often, physicians take a singular approach to the treatment of pain. At Advanced Pain Management, Dr. Boussert incorporates a multi-modal approach to the treatment of pain, developing unique treatment plans for her patients and addressing all aspects of pain.

Dr. Boussert understands that patients who suffer from various painful conditions simply want to return to a functional existence and improve their quality of life. This is why she employs a combination of therapies involving the best aspects of Western and Eastern medicine, including the most advanced interventional therapies for both acute and chronic pain, diverse medication management, psychological treatments for exacerbating conditions such as anxiety and depression, lifestyle modifications, massage therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture, and surgery when necessary to treat pain most effectively. She also aides in establishing an interdisciplinary “team” of providers and specialists to assist with the different aspects of chronic pain conditions to offer each patient his or her best chance of diagnosis and improvement.

Dr. Boussert, an anesthesiologist who completed her residency at The University of Chicago where she focused on the physical aspects of pain, completed her fellowship in pain management at Stanford University where she developed her multi-modal and multi-disciplinary approach to pain management. She is a native or Ruston, Louisiana, and currently lives in Baton Rouge with her husband and three daughters.

By specializing, rhinologists can provide advanced insight into physiological processes and proficient skill in navigating complex anatomy.

Rhinology is a relatively new field that has significantly progressed over the last decade with technological advances that improve visualization. Endoscopy and other minimally invasive techniques afford access to hard-to-reach anatomy while avoiding facial incisions and scars.

Endoscopic sinus surgery for inflammatory conditions has also advanced. Refinement of techniques makes this an outpatient procedure for most patients. There is no traditional packing in the nose after surgery. Bleeding is significantly less and recovery is faster and more comfortable.

Together, Dr. Barham and Dr. Hall founded the only dedicated tertiary rhinology practice in the region, where they provide focused, world-class medical and surgical care to both adults and children with sinus and nasal problems.
