SUMMER FAMILY FUN

We are blessed with one of the most imaginative indie toy shops in the region, with My Small World in Lawrence Street. Check out their Instagram @mysmallworldtoys to get an insight into their playful and creative team. During the summer, Southgate itself will have a creative installation for the whole family to enjoy, we have seen butterflies, flowers and umbrellas in previous years and no one knows what fun will be revealed each year. Southgate also has a great picnic spot with tiny hills to tumble over and apple trees with benches around them.

Continuing into the city centre, don’t miss the fascinating passages around Northumberland Place where you will find the historic Victorian arcade – The Corridor. Tucked inside the Corridor is indie café Fox and Kit, with special menus for the tiniest members of the family and delicious cake to please everyone else.

The café is filled with different toys and activities and regularly hosts family fun activities.

Of course, Bath is a great place to discover history, with a fabulous range of museums, from the Roman Baths with their colourful costumed characters, the Herschel Museum where you can discover astronomy, the Frankenstein Museum and neighbouring Jane Austen Centre in Queen Street and No 1 Royal Crescent where you can experience life in a real Georgian house. If you are spending a couple of days in the city, don’t miss out on a visit to the American Museum. Just outside the city, it boasts fascinating collections and is surrounded by stunning gardens including a childrens’ garden where family members can let off steam before enjoying the American Garden Deli.

Plan a visit to a park, with great childrens’ facilities in Victoria Park and Sydney Gardens, you can pick up a picnic and make the most of the summer weather in Bath.

Every Sunday in July and August, the city will be hosting Summer Sundays outdoor fun. You may discover roving performers, bubbleologists or balloon modellers offering free entertainment or even pop up museum craft activities. Keep an eye open for announcements on the day about where to find them.

For Summer Sundays, there will also be a fun family miniature dog trail in 25 shop windows. Look out for the signs for ‘How Much is that Doggie in the Window’ which will be running throughout July and August and raising funds for Bath Cats and Dogs Home.
