Synopsis Sinopsis

Rosa is a successful professional. The sudden death of the grandfather who raised her and the feeling of not having returned that love, bring her back to the home where she was raised.

Thanks to a series of letters and clues she discovers that her grandfather left her an important task that will help her make peace with herself and others, while she repairs her grandfather’s past mistakes.

Rosa es una profesional de éxito. La repentina muerte del abuelo que la crió y el sentimiento de no haber correspondido a ese amor la llevan a la casa que la vio crecer. Gracias a una serie de cartas y pistas descubre que su abuelo le dejó una importante tarea que la ayudará a hacer las paces consigo misma y con los demás, mientras repara los errores del pasado de su abuelo.

My Grandfather’s Demons is an animation feature film that centres its narrative in Rosa, a young city woman who lives an agitated life pursuing the social gratification that money and the city seem to bring her.

With this film, I mean to create an identification with a way of life that so many times consumes us, makes us retreat form our most profound being and pushes us into automatic actions that distance us from the Other. Independence turned isolation and pushed away the need we have of living connected to a community.

Rosa’s search is directly connected with taking comfort form the Others embrace, to the need of friendship connections, to sharing and to mutual help. We all need the Other’s presence an the human bonds that grow beyond the pursuit of economic independence ant the illusion that it creates for us. This film also works on the clash between time lived in the city, where it never seems to be enough and where we end up just reacting, driven by the pressure of daily stress, and Time in the country life, where it seems to slow down, allowing us to think and contemplate.

Los Demonios de Barro es un largometraje de animación cuya narración se centra en Rosa, una joven de ciudad que lleva una vida turbulenta en pos de la búsqueda de la gratificación social que el dinero y la vida en la ciudad parecen aportarle.

A través de esta película, busco crear una identificación con una forma de vida que con demasiada frecuencia nos consume, nos aleja de nuestro ser más íntimo y nos empuja a acciones mecánicas que nos alejan del otro. La independencia se convierte entonces en aislamiento, y aleja nuestra necesidad natural de estar conectados a una comunidad.

La búsqueda de Rosa está directamente relacionada con la búsqueda del confort del abrazo del otro, los lazos de amistad, el compartir y de apoyo mutuo. Todos necesitamos conexiones humanas que prosperen al margen del éxito económico y de la ilusión que este crea. Esta película también trabaja sobre el choque entre dos temporalidades. En primer lugar, el tiempo vivido en la ciudad, que nunca parece ser suficiente y que nos empuja a reaccionar cuando nos enfrentamos al estrés de la vida cotidiana. En segundo lugar, el tiempo de vida en el campo, que parece y genera una situación propicia para la reflexión y la contemplación.
