Barratt Health & Wellbeing Month: Week 4 - Physical Wellbeing Physical activity is not only great for your body, but also your mind. Being active releases chemicals in your brain that make you feel good, boosting your self-esteem and helping you concentrate as well as sleep and feel better. Not bad for something many of us can do for free! At Barratt we fully encourage and support positive wellbeing for all colleagues. The benefits of keeping active Being active doesn’t have to mean taking out an expensive gym membership or running marathons. Finding an activity you enjoy can help you set goals and achieve a sense of purpose. It can also be a great way to meet new people, have a break from daily life and gain confidence. Other benefits include: Less tension, stress and mental fatigue A natural energy boost A sense of achievement More focus and motivation Feeling less angry or frustrated A healthy appetite Having fun Did you know that through our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) partnership with Lifeworks you can access LIFT. LIFT provides a full suite of fitness offerings that make working out exciting, easy and efficient. It’s like working out at your preferred gym or studio, without ever stepping foot outside your house. Click here for further information.

Diet and nutrition Autumn and winter can impact our eating habits; cooler temperatures, fewer daylight hours, and more time spent inside, can have a significant effect on our hunger and how likely we are to crave comfort food. These colder, darker days usually result in being less active, therefore it is important to stay on top of your diet and avoid overindulging during the winter seasons. Click here to view some healthy, heart-warming recipes which you can try out in the comfort of your own home. You can also find recipes suited to different dietary requirements.
