Warren T Moyle Due to his own health problems and also that of his wife Mel, Warren has made a difficult decision to part with his pigeons. Warren’s association with pigeons started around 1942 and he commenced racing birds in 1944, as “pigeon apprentice” to Tom Leane. He has flown every season since, nearly 70 years in total. A foundation member of the Southern Fed he has filled the positions of Treasurer for 15 years, Conveyer, and also Secretary of the South Suburban Pigeon Club. While flying in the Fed he amassed a total of 21 Fed wins and won the Fed points on 5 occasions. More recently, Warren has served for 7 years as a member of the SAHPA Management Committee. He has won three SAHPA races, Maryborough, Glendambo and Farina and also finished 3rd, 10th and 19th in the SAHPA points. As we can see Warren has spent a lifetime in the sport of pigeon racing, has been a tough competitor but along the way has also generously helped many new flyers by donating birds and even giving them the pick of the loft. One new flyer walked away with an Assoc winner, while Warren refused to accept a penny. In today’s world some of his ideas may seem a little old fashioned but he has stuck close to his principles of “only clocking the one bird” and, in recent years, following his breeding method of “Off the Perch”. His pigeons are bred down from Keith Wickham’s “Golden Girl” supplied by the Saggers Bros from Victoria, which have recently been crossed with birds from Ian Durrant (mainly Goodger). While there are 14 selected pairs in the stock loft, the majority of birds are “Off the Perch”. These youngsters are the result of race birds left to select their own mates, raising their young in nestbowls attached to the squares; unfortunately no breeding records were kept. Warren right up until last season has been very competitive in the Hyde Park Club (17-20 members) either winning the Club points or finishing in the first 3. His birds have performed well for other flyers, in particular Viv Allan. The Farina Assoc winner was given to Viv a couple of seasons back. This sale presents the opportunity for any pigeon flyer that can identify quality to select a potential breeder bred down from generations of race performed parents.
