Terry Cooper Statement I started racing in 1966 as a 12-year-old junior in Towradgi Pigeon Club in the SCF and I will say it has been a real privilege coming up through the ranks of that club and flying against some of the giants of the sport. I had a few years out over the years due to work and family commitments but since my return in 2003, it has been intense and I’ve loved every minute. Getting the Davo/Savage pigeons from Keith Savage’s Sale proved a real game changer and better results soon followed. It didn’t take long to realise why “THE DAVO” was that champion he is. His birds were smarter and faster than anything I had ever had and they are repeat performers. The introduction of Mark Schubert birds was another game changer and started with the “Shoalhaven hen”. She bred a 1st and 2nd FED 1st year at stock and those 2 hens have gone on to be producers. In fact, all the Shoalhaven daughters I have bred from have produced extremely good FED birds. I cannot recommend the Mark Schubert birds highly enough. Racing in the SCF is challenging, you have a lot of excellent flyers putting the pump on from 1st race till last race where 5 seconds can be the difference between 1st and NOWHERE. When I refer to “FED birds” later in my catalogue I am referring to the TOP 10 or there about. -Terry Cooper Testimonial from Stephen Saywell When Terry asked me to write a few words for him about his pigeons I thought why? I thought he doesn't need any testimonials, the performance of his birds over many years speak for themselves. He has always had winning birds and his bird's potential showed out a few years back when he dropped six together to top the Fed from Eden (400kms) - a thrill we would all like to experience. Terry has made some very judicious purchases over the years and the Davo and Schubert influence in his family of birds has definitely generated results. The birds are always a picture of health and they are some of the best specimens in our sport that I have seen. When I look for a bird to breed off I try to select ones from families that produce repeat performers. Birds that win multiple prizes are not common and to my mind are worth their weight in gold. Terry has had a number of these repeat performers and has bred judiciously around these birds to breed a very competitive family of birds. I am sure that when you have a look at the birds (and also at their pedigrees) you will agree with me that many of Terry's birds would earn a perch in any loft. The best example I can give to the worth of Terry's birds is not my own experience but that of Graham Davison. Davo is renown as a great judge of pigeons and arguably one of the best ever pigeon men in Australia. He bought one of Terry's birds at a club sires produce sale. Davo recognised a quality in this bird and it raced well. When it homed from Tasmania (800kms) Davo said it had something special as it didn't have a feather out of place. He put her to stock and she immediately bred a hen to win first Fed and to win one of the SCF Classic races - the Fed YB Derby (550kms). All I can say is that if Terry has birds that Davo considers good enough to breed off then that should be good enough for anyone in our sport. I wish Terry well with this sale and any who purchase at the sale can be confident that they are buying birds from a family of birds that has what matters - performance on the track.
