Due to my deteriorating health (my back is stuffed and I have had two strokes this year), I am reluctantly forced to dispose of all of my pigeons. This is a gut-wrenching exercise for me, because I’ve had pigeons in one way, shape or form continuously since I was seven years old. Poor health has stopped me from racing over the past four years, but in that time I have kept breeding and building my families of pigeons to a point where I have bred some very good pigeons for pigeon racers in both city and country situations. Pigeons which win irrespective of location, favourable or otherwise. Pigeons which I have bred for people, have done extremely well for them, as they did for me. In the last year that I raced in the NDIC (90 flyers) I got two second fed places and won my club (Goulburn Valley) four times. I finished in the top 10 in the fed that year, despite running out of birds. Champion country pigeon racer, Tony Sofra (NDIC) won two federation races in 2007 with pigeons that I bred for him. Tony has still got all the pigeons that I bred for him for the 2008 season and he is very happy with them yet again. He placed 49th in the MDPR South Africa race, with a daughter of a Goodger hen that I bred for him. My Janssens and Meulemans have proven to be good over the shorter to mid distances, but it is my long distance family of straight Morrison Barkers and also when crossed to the Busschaerts, Eatons, Wickhams and Doug Ince's which are bringing the most success for other people, flying in either the city or the country. I believe that I have one of the best and most comprehensive collections of Morrison Barkers in Australia. These are excellent pigeons for country, as well as city applications. I will also be disposing of my 2008 race team, which I could not race this year. These will be sold very cheaply and they will represent a great opportunity for anybody looking for top grade, long distance families at a very low price. Tony Sofra has already indicated that he will be buying some when they go up for sale on 2 September. The pigeons are going to be sold straight from the catalogue, which will have all prices displayed. There will be no pre-sales and pigeons will be sold on a first come, first served basis. I am happy for buyers to come here and select their birds and I will also freight pigeons anywhere within Australia. I have been selling racing pigeons and breeding stock for several years and I take pride in the fact that I have no unhappy buyers out there. I have always presented my pigeons honestly and I am truthful in my descriptions of the pigeons, their history and with their pedigrees. All parentage is guaranteed, as I use only single pens for breeding – pictures of my single pens are viewable at the website www.janssenman.com I am happy to negotiate prices on quantities of pigeons and of course, most of the pigeons on offer come with pedigrees, including the stud pedigrees of their forebears. The race team pigeons come with no pedigree, but I am sure that I can come to an arrangement to provide such. My negotiability will depend on how committed a buyer is to purchasing pigeons from me. I don’t consider ringing me on the phone and asking me what my bottom price is, to be a commitment – coming here and haggling with me is! I am happy to answer all questions (apart from prices) out in the open in the forum – if anybody wishes to talk to me about any of the pigeons listed – my mobile phone 0438 655576 - is answered between 9.00 am and 9.00pm seven (7) days a week. I can also be contacted on (03) 5865 5379 during business hours.
