No birds will be or have been sold prior to the auction. Numerous attempts have been made by people and syndicates to purchase the whole loft or part prior to the auction. All have been graciously declined. The majority of birds being auctioned are 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation from the family tree, with the majority of their direct parents on show and for auction for you to compare. If you miss the parents, grab the 1st or 2nd generation. These birds’ performances and long history are not based on steroids, drugs or illegal performance-enhancing substances. They have intelligence, stamina, intestinal fortitude, strong and powerful lungs and hearts. You too can reproduce these birds and their performances which is a claim you cannot say about some of our current day so-called champions who have nothing going for them other than what was used on them, much to the sport’s detriment. No outcross Harrisons have been used on the ID Colour Harrisons for the last five generations. Going to auction will be every colour, shape and size you can imagine, including sprint, middle and long distance birds. If you know your pigeons and DON’T have deep pockets, there is something here for everybody within your budget. Remember every bird is related to every other bird at the auction. They will not all be glamour pusses or show pigeons. Try your luck. There is a good chance that if something takes your fancy, you will be taking it home. Starting price for all birds is $50.00 (not negotiable). There will be certain birds (lot number to be specified) to be raffled during the course of the day. Food and refreshments will be catered for at a minimal charge on the day. For country and interstate travellers, plenty of accommodation is within walking distance of Castle Hill Showground on Showground Road. Special note: due to time and health restrictions, at the auction there will be some birds that have not been catalogued prior to the auction but all are still from the same family. GENERAL DISCLAIMER The pigeons are sold in good faith with all stock breeding successfully during the past breeding seasons. Of course, no guarantee can be given on their future performance. In addition to this, whilst all care has been taken to determine the sex of the young birds being auctioned, no guarantee can be given at this stage for the accuracy of these sexing.
HEALTH DISCLAIMER In the three weeks prior to the 27/6/10 all birds being auctioned will have been medicated with the following medications for the correct period of time to ensure at the time of sale all birds are presented at the highest possible health standards: • Turbosole • GT wormer • Triple X Once the birds have been sold and have left the auction room they will become fully, in all regards, the responsibility of the new owner.
PAYMENT CONDITIONS • No bird is to leave or be paid for till the end of the sale Method of payment: • Cash on day – birds can leave on the day • Bank cheque – birds can leave on the day • Personal cheque – birds can be picked up by arrangement after and only after cheque clears • Electronic funds clearance – birds can be picked up by arrangement after and only after successful funds clearance
CANCELLATION PROCEDURE If the auction is cancelled due to a race holdover, it will be conducted the following Sunday, 4/7/10. Everything the same.
HISTORY OF THE KNOBLAUCH HARRISON (In chronological order)
1911
- Mr MJ Foy imports the whole Harrison family from England.
1919
- Mr H Knoblauch acquires Harrisons from Mr EC Bartle of Inverell, NSW. These birds were
direct from Mr MJ Foy.
1926 (approx.)
- Mr O’Brien (NSW) imports from Geo. Harrison of Oakamore, North Staffs,
England. Birds were exchanged with Mr HH Knoblauch. These birds were the second introduction to the Knoblauch Harrisons.
1930 (approx.)
- Mr AS Balfe (Melbourne flyer) obtained birds directly from Mr MJ Foy. These
birds were the first introduction to the Knoblauch Harrison.
1937 – 1938 (approx.)
- Unbeknown to many flyers, Harrisons had also arrived in Australia
from Grocott of England who flew the original Harrison strain with great success. These birds were the 3rd introduction to the Knoblauch Harrisons.
1938 - 1939
- Disposal of whole loft of Mr S Ling, brother to Jack Ling who was Mr Foy’s loft
manager. Birds from this disposal were acquired by Mr O’Brien on the directions of Mr HH Knoblauch. They were forwarded on making up the fourth introduction to the Knoblauch Harrisons.
1939 - 1940
- Mr Norman S Read of England sends Harrisons from the original stock, dated prior
to 1911, that he is still successfully racing in England and has kept pure, to Mr HH Knoblauch. Interesting point to know is at this time Knoblauch Harrison were being sent back to England to improve their stock. This is the fifth introduction of an outcross into the Knoblauch family. In all five introductions of crosses they were Harrisons, bred and blended in other localities to keep the strain pure, always keeping the original Knoblauch strain dominant and only introducing the cream of the Harrison strain from other localities when sure of its authenticity. I, Ian Doyle, as a direct descendant of Mr HH Knoblauch, believe this brief history of the Knoblauch Harrison family to be a true and factual account of this strain.
