FOREWARD Due to unavoidable circumstances Barry & Gwen have found themselves having to relocate premises. Barry's health is not the best, with great regret Barry has decided to sell his loft of Stock and Race Birds. The only birds kept back from the sale have been birds Gwen has raced in her own name. Barry has been racing in partnership with John Blokland over the past few seasons. Barry has successfully bred and raced pigeons for over 50 years winning Club and Federation Averages and numerous Federation races in the Queensland Pigeon Federation when it was a vastly more competitive organisation than it is to-day . In latter years he has raced successfully in the Toowoomba Federation. Barry has always been competitive in all races and consistently tried to improve his stock using his experience to guide him. His passion has been the all day flys finishing into the evening and the next morning. Space does not allow the full breeding of the birds in the sale as many pages could be written about the performance and breeding of any number of them. It could be said these family's of birds are out-dated, I wish to point out if you choose to fly 350 -400 mile plus races they are essential. The base of a lot of birds are the pigeons that have been so successful over so many years in South East Queensland. Such as the Following; 1. THE BALFE COCK 16227; Bred by the late C. LATCHFORD introduced to Qld by the late RON SCOTT, and latter used extensively through his progeny. In Barry's Case 2403 of ALAN ANDERSON through her progeny 502, 1491, responsible for a long line of great pigeons. Barry built a strong family around K. CARMONDY'S 117 and close relatives of 114; 1544; 1; 1148; 1031; 252 . Other flyers to have used the relatives of 502 and BOB WATTON'S 11491; 1132; Sire of Bob's Charleville National Winner and G/Sire of his Junee Fed Winner. My own Bega and Cobar Fed Winners were inbred G/Children of 1132. BOB BROWN'S 503 Mackay Fed Winner , BILL SLOANE'S Goulburn Fed Winner GEORGE VAIN’S Charleville Fed Winner and numerous others. There are 2 sides to a ,mating but the "OLD BALFE" pigeons show up far to regularly. Whenever any offspring of the other BALFE 'S progeny of 16227 namely 2220; 1478; 168; 519; are crossed back through 2403 lines it usually bring great success. 2. Barry's own ABC's when introduced lifted most any-thing they were put too. Barry and Kev Carmondy used them extensively with the BALFE' s. 3. JIM WATSON'S PIEDS 5379 Townsvile Fed Winner on a very hard day 2 Birds Third Day and her sire 1367. Numerous flyers have used them with great success, namely Craig Porter, Chris Wright's Windorah Fed Winner. John Blokland and many others. When you have the right birds the rest becomes o so easy. In the words of Mr. Herb Knoblaugh.(Stated as a mentor). You hope you will get a bird home. "I KNOW I WILL". I remember a Townsville, 4 Clocks 2nd Day Barry stating to a well known flyer that he will get one the next morning, that was the confidence he has in his birds. Most Birds were based around NAM-92-218 and his g/daughter QPF-00-17738 which was 1st Fed Windorah herself and brothers, sisters & g/children which have been all Line Bred by Chris, ready to be crossed. A Pedigree of 17738 and her g/sire 218 show some of the great distance birds from the last 40 odd years.

These birds and their progeny are still producing top Federation Wins and Places for myself and many different flyers today. The ABC pigeons mainly through QPF-99-818, her sire QPF-87-14992 by QPF-85-8362 X QPC-05-81. 8362, known as "The Ketchel Cock" was by QPC-74-374 X QPC-72-690.
