MY FAMILIES I started racing on the Central Coast in 1991 from Toukley. It took me several years to obtain a good stock team which first won the C.C.R.P.A. pointscore in 1999 while at Toukley. I moved to Lakehaven in 2000 and again won the pointscore. My team have now had 9 times the top postion, four times second and a fifth in the last 15 years. In the 21 years on the Central Coast I have won 180 races in the strong Budgewoi club. My stock birds consist of four main families, THE DARK CHEQ'S, THE BUSSCHAERTS THE WHOOPI FAMILY and THE EMMA FAMILY. Of the breeds I have many with DELBARS crossed, some JANNSENS in the sprinters. I prefer birds that have done something, winners and birds with several prizes also. THE DARK COCK (dark cheq. CC 99 3952 won SALE together with his brother ) was off a Dk.Cheq.Flty Cock. (CC.92 10008) who also won SALE as a 3 year old. He came home after 10 hrs and looked like he loved it. There were only 6 birds in our club and 4 of them were mine. That cock never raced again and became a great stock bird. His prodigy were always there on the hard days. "THE DARK COCK" has been the same and with BL.BAR HEN, CC 03 115 has bred many winners, seven in 2009, six in 2010, five in 2011. With the MEALY PIE HEN, CC 00 8616, he also has bred four winners. THE BUSSCHAERTS came from a cock I purchased at Arthur ARNOLDS Newcastle sale, he bred me many prizes with the MEALY PIE HEN (CC 02 8616) being the best producer and a Bl.Cheq.Pie Cock ( CC 01 6722) also breeding many good ones. Both those birds won races. The Mealy Pie won Ulladulla and topped the Fed off Orbost. Paired to Lot 14, Bl,Bar Cock, CC 03 104, she had the most success. WHOOPI is named after Whoopi Goldberg, they had a lot in common. Whoopi won Bundaberg, and was 2ND in the Fed. She went on to breed many long distance birds with a win in a tough National in 2007.There are two hens and a cock off her who were all great racers in the sale. WHOOPI was bred from Harold Larkins birds purchased at his Newcastle sale. Her grand mother a pencil hen from Bob Appleby paired to a Victorian mealy cock EMMA was a great race hen as were all her sisters. All the cocks bred the same were great sprinters. The hens were all good breeders with the last being a Bl.Cheq.Pie Hen (cc 00 1163) producing many wins and placing for the last 6 years. In 2012 a 2yo hen had two 1st's, a 2nd and a third. ( Bl.Cheq.Pie hen.CC 10 2001). EMMA was bred from a Red hen off Gary Robertson champion red cock who sired "triple six".The dam was also a champion bird called"six ten". Triple six and six ten won the Bi-Centannial Two Bird held in 1988 in Sydney. EMMAs father was a race bird bred off Brian Dinham birds. The WHOOPI-EMMA cross, crossed with the DARK COCK are my best distance birds. The BUSSCHAERTS cross well with anything. My sprinters are down from JANNSENS (Gary Selway and Gary Ruysch), The Busschaerts Delbars and Emma crossed with The Dark Cock. The Lightning cock paired the 6767( who won 7 races between them) are the base of my sprinters. A Blenhaven hen crossed well with this family. I never race my sprinters past Friday night basketing. I have merit cards and Bricon race printouts to verify all the above.
