Amessagetoour2024dragonboatteams

We were delighted to see a huge turnout representing Barnsley Hospital at the Dragon Boat Race. Thank you to each and every one of you – you were all incredible and it was great to see the camaraderie and enjoyment.

The whole day, from beginning to end, was absolutely amazing, and we are already signing people up for next year!

Boat Captain and Service Manager Deena Goodhead said:

I signed up for the race without really knowing what to expect. After looking into it, my reaction was, "What on earth have I gotten myself into?" I felt fear and anxiety about the expectations and even wondered if I was too old and too unhealthy to compete! How wrong I was.

Thanks to all the teams who took time our their busy schedules to come and race and raise funds for our Charity:

Barnsley Wave Riders (Barnsley Facilities Services) Every Little Helps (Hospital volunteers and Tesco)

Ellie Etoile Dancers

Deena’s Disco Divas (Barnsley Hospital’s CBU 3 team supporting babies, children, young people and outpatients)

Barnsley Hospital Dons and Divas (Barnsley Hospital Executive Team)

The teams all brought along family and friends, creating a wonderful, feel-good atmosphere. I absolutely love the excitement this event sparked, with some already talking about training for next year.

Get on Board! All you need is: 17 team members

A good sense of humour

To say you aren’t competitive but really are!

As a mum of six and granny to four, I understand how much dedication it takes to carve out time for fundraising. That’s why I’m so inspired by the five incredible teams who took part in our dragon boat race on Saturday 7 September

Supportingyoungpeoplewithdiabetes

Thanks to your support we have recently funded activity days at Kingswood and family picnic at Locke Park hosted by the Children’s Diabetes Team to engage children, young people and their families in a creative way.

Children and young people benefited from an opportunity to socialise with their peers and the team were able to support them with the activities and advice and help with carbohydrate counting.

RITALandsinWard20

RITA isn’t a new member of staff but a Reminiscence Interactive Therapy Activity.

RITA is proving very popular with patients, who have been signing and swaying to the reminiscence music, enjoying games and activities such as play your cards right and bingo.

EDCareBags

Two hundred care bags designed to support people with learning disabilities and autistic people be able to more effectively use our Emergency Department.
