Fenton Hereford Ranch 61st Annual Production Sale

Page 1

To Fenton Hereford Ranch Welcome

We would like to welcome you to our 61st Annual Sale and our 79th year of raising registered Hereford cattle. Exciting times in the cattle business and long-awaited. It has been really rewarding watching cattlemen market their calves and yearlings this calendar year as it’s like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders. Years of effort and sacrifce has fnally paid off. A renewed sense of accomplishment and pride goes a long way. We have always enjoyed what we do for a living but it sure doesn’t hurt to keep the banker happy too. I’ve heard a few guys mention lately that their wives have suddenly taken a new shine to the cows!

On offer this year we have the strongest set of bulls from top to bottom that we have ever raised. Alongside them we have a set of 30 registered bred heifers that we feel exemplify our program. These cattle have been culled ruthlessly for quality and temperament as we feel they must go hand in hand.

I believe we frst started selling broke saddle horses in our sale in 1996. At this time the brood mare band expanded and from the beginning the Bennett Ranch has been here. This is no doubt the deepest set of foals on offer in the history of the ranch. Almost any color possible is available this year but above all else quality runs deep.

With that I’d like to invite you to the sale Thursday, Nov 27th 1:00 pm MST.

Videos of all lots will be available DLMS.ca

Another sire held back due to his performance, dam, and granddam. According to the milk numbers (EPD’s), it says progeny from this bloodline should dry up and blow away. But when this Dam and Granddam consistently wean calves that are between 600 and 700 lbs off true grass (not crept, but summered on native grass) our experience and confdence in this lineage is to believe what we see and not what the computer is telling us.

This guy will catch your eye sale day, with extra length of rib, round muscle and just a thick bull all around, His Dam 52H is a thick easy feshing cow that we sold a 1/2 sister to Crone Herefords in last falls sale. Stewart calved her out this spring and she has a beautiful udder and doing a real good job on her frst calf.

Here’s a standout herd bull prospect from a cow with an impressive track record. 110M has a set of pants on him that we keep striving for in this breed. He is an easy keeper, big square red nuts, deep cherry red, with pigment on both eyes, really good haired, and a real nice disposition. It was a hard decision for us to keep him or his 3/4 brother that we are using next year to replace sire 98H. His dam 81C is an easy keeper, and we wish we had a whole herd of them. 81C has raised daughters for Shane Truby, Rafter UU, Rutledge Herefords, and a son to Frolek Ranch. Her daughters 36E and 58L we’ve retained in herd and are copies of their mother, beautiful udders and are top producing females.

Bonanza 2025 was sure a good “Olds” time for this bunch of juniors!

As you can see the 98H sons are peas in a pod, as solid a group of sons you can ask for. Here’s another super stout bull with a huge hind end. A real eye appealing well balanced guy that in our opinion is another herd sire contender. The youngest polled bull in the sale, and a more moderate 8J son, out of 65Z a thick easy keeping 13 year old cow that is still producing here on the ranch. 141M is an attractive, well balanced bull with big curly hair, goggle eyes, a clean made bull, and will no doubt have longevity with his pedigree. It’s hard to part with him as 65Z has only had 2 sons but we’ve retained every daughter in herd.

I purchased this horse for my grandson Prior when he was 12 years old to help me move pairs and sort cows. It was the right horse at the right time and has been Prior’s go to horse ever since. Pepper has a nice handle and will watch a cow. He has been to numerous brandings and has doctored his share of cattle. Prior is riding many of the young horses now so Pepper has had an easy summer. It’s hard to sell such a good horse but we are happy he will be able to move on and do the same for his next family.
