The O’Haire Family Raise over £6,000

RUNNING A MILE A DAY FOR 100 DAYS RAISES OVER £6,000 FOR THE CHARITY

Flynn O’HAIRE, now aged 7, has been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. His parents Edel and James, together with Flynn and his elder brother Shea, aged 9, set themselves a challenge to each run one mile a day for 100 days to celebrate the discovery of how to extract insulin a century ago.

Edel said, “As a family we all wanted to give something back to the charity for everything they have supported us with and to help others now and in the future. Like all of those with Type 1 diabetes, Flynn is now dependent on insulin.

Commenting, chairman Bill O’Brien said, “This is a significant fundraising effort undertaken by the entire family and the amount raised is exceptional. The money raised will be used in a way that will support all of the children with diabetes in the Island.”
