Dance Showcase

Show 2 Saturday 20 September

Show 2 Saturday 20 September
An Anglican community inspiring every learner every experience every day
To be a leader in Christian education that is characterised by a global vision that inspires hope
We acknowledge the Dharug, Darkinjung, Wonnarua and Yolŋu peoples who are the traditional custodians of the land on which Barker College, Darkinjung Barker, Ngarralingayil Barker and Dhupuma Barker stand. We pay respect to the Elders past, present and emerging of the Dharug, Darkinjung, Wonnarua and Yolŋu nations and extend that respect to other Indigenous people within the Barker College community.
Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to Barker Goes 80’s. Today, we gather to honour the incredible talent, courage, and joy of our Dance students from across Barker’s Junior and Secondary Schools and for the first time from our Marri Mittigar campus.
This afternoon is a celebration of the many gifts within our Dance program, which continues to grow and flourish. The sheer number of students performing today is a testament to the passion and dedication of our brilliant Dance teachers, who work tirelessly to challenge and support our students. Their commitment ensures that every performance is not only entertaining but also a showcase of choreographic excellence and technical growth.
As you sit back and enjoy the show, I invite you to reflect on the joy that dance brings to our community. We give thanks to God for the giftedness of our students and their willingness to share it so generously. Their energy is invigorating, and their love of dance is contagious.
Enjoy the show!
Phillip Heath AM Head of Barker College
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Barker Goes 80’s - a vibrant and high-energy celebration of dance, creativity, and community. This afternoon’s performance brings together students from across our campuses, united by a shared passion for dance.
As educators, we are committed to nurturing creativity, confidence, and selfexpression—empowering young dancers to move boldly and purposefully into their future. Through initiatives like the Barker Dance Company, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for students to connect, grow, and experience dance at every stage of their journey. Today’s performance is a reflection of that vision, showcasing the diversity of talent and the collaborative spirit that defines our program
Our program continues to evolve with a focus on cohesion and inclusivity, ensuring students feel supported and inspired throughout their dance experience. This afternoon, you’ll see dancers from Junior, Senior and Mari Mittigar campuses, Kindergarten to Year 12, including some performing for the very first time, sharing their talent, courage, and joy.
We must extend our heartfelt thanks to our exceptional team of instructors. Their expertise, creativity, and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in shaping this program and bringing today’s performance to life.
We hope you enjoy the show.
