We acknowledge the Dharug, Darkinjung, Wonnarua and Yolŋu peoples who are the traditional custodians of the land on which Barker College, Darkinjung Barker, Ngarralingayil Barker and Dhupuma Barker stand. We pay respect to the Elders past, present and emerging of the Dharug, Darkinjung, Wonnarua and Yolŋu nations and extend that respect to other Indigenous people within the Barker College community.
Welcome
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2026 Barker Dance Showcase, Elements in Motion.
Tonight is a celebration of the many talents of our Dance students and an opportunity to experience the creativity, skill and passion that continue to shape and enrich dance at Barker. As you sit back and enjoy the performances, I am sure you will be captivated by the choreographic quality, artistry and commitment that our students bring to the stage.
Inspired by the natural elements of water, air, fire and earth, this year’s showcase explores the power of movement to communicate ideas, emotions and stories.
I extend my sincere thanks to our outstanding Dance staff, whose expertise, dedication and encouragement inspire students to challenge themselves, refine their skills and pursue excellence. Their tireless work behind the scenes makes evenings such as this possible.
We also thank our families for their ongoing support and encouragement, and we give thanks to God for the gifts, dedication and enthusiasm of our students. Their passion for dance is truly invigorating and enriches our community in countless ways.
Phillip Heath AM Head of Barker College
Barker Dance Showcase ‘Elements in Motion’
It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Elements in Motion – a vibrant celebration of dance and creativity. This showcase highlights the dedication and progress of our dancers as they present a diverse range of styles and performances developed throughout the first semester.
Inspired by the natural elements – water, air, fire and earth – each piece explores how movement can embody these forces. From the fluidity and grace of water to the lightness of air, intensity of fire and the grounded strength of earth, our dancers bring these elements to life through expressive and dynamic choreography.
Our program continues to evolve with a focus on cohesion, inclusivity and excellence, ensuring our students feel supported and inspired through their dance experience. Through initiatives like Barker Dance Company, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for students to connect at every stage of their journey. This showcase will feature dancers from across the school, including some performing for the first time, sharing their talent, courage and joy.
We must extend our heartfelt thanks to our exceptional team of instructors. Their expertise, creativity and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in shaping this program and bringing tonight’s performance to life.
We hope you enjoy the show.
