Als Trompeter von außergewöhnlicher Ausdruckskraft wie als Komponist mit weitem stilistischen Horizont vereint Ambrose Akinmusire in seiner Musik Einflüsse unterschiedlichster Formen und Sprachen, von Post­Bop and Avantgarde­Jazz über zeitgenössische Kammermusik und Hip­Hop bis hin zu Singer­Songwriter­Anklängen. Für den Pierre Boulez Saal hat er ein neues Werk geschrieben, das hier seine Uraufführung erleben wird. Im zweiten Teil des Abends präsentiert er in einem eigens zu diesem Anlass neu formierten Trio mit Jakob Bro und Billy Hart sein The Owl Song II.

A trumpeter of deep expressive resources and a composer of wide­ranging vision, Ambrose Akinmusire has made a home at the crossroads of different musical forms and languages, from post­bop and avant­garde jazz to contemporary chamber music and hip hop, to singersongwriter aesthetics. His program will include the world premiere of a new composition commissioned by the Pierre Boulez Saal as well as a special trio with Jakob Bro and Billy Hart brought together for the occasion to present Akinmusire’s The Owl Song II.
