Drawing from their childhood experiences, many of the youth in this group found within them a yearning for free and open play. They shared stories of being cordoned off within the house because of dangerous elements in society or of an abrupt end of their childhood with the construction of buildings in their maidans.
Finally, the group chose to explore the “Impact of the Disappearance of Open Spaces in Mumbai on Children’s Playing Practices.” While the areas of their study are limited to Indira Nagar in Dharavi and Bengalipura in Wadala, the findings of their research can be extended to the city at large.
