Newspaper from time to time

The crowded city

The first ever newspaper was invented in 1904 by Johann Carolus, the publisher in German. He published the "Relation aller Fürnemmen und gedenckwürdigen Historien" ("Account of all Distinguished and Commemorable News"), which is considered the first regular newspaper. The publication was initially a weekly news bulletin that consisted of a single sheet of paper with handwritten news summaries from various sources with a wide range of topics.

“Why are all the newspapers displayed folded into two?”

In the early days, just when newspapers were incredibly famous, they were folded in half and displayed for sale.

Usually, the attentiongrabbing headlines of images were placed visible enough when the paper was folded and stacked for purchase. This concept is called “above the fold” where eye-catching things appear in the top half of the front page.

Actually, we’re quite sure that during the times of counting down to this day, you were facing some obstacles or even carrying hurdles that happened to be too hard to endure. But, we’re here to tell you not to drown yourself into the thoughts. Instead, let’s look back to the good old times.

Remember when you had to deal with the hard times. Did you survive? You did. Are you doing better now? Certainly.

I hope that you have a “happy button” that you can press whenever you feel sad or disorganized. Now, think of this: any struggle that you have gone through so long ago, they were agonizing. And you managed to go through it in any way. See? What happened in the past isn’t always that bad now that you’re standing here, right?

Talking about the past, there should be at least one thing from your childhood that you hold dearly until this day. As for us, we think this certain thing has so many memories when you look at it. Perhaps, somewhere in the past, you were flipping pages with your father on Sunday morning, or making your craftwork assigned by your teacher using the newspaper. From there, it has become the reason why we choose this theme, newspaper.

SOCIAL ACTION: THE WAY ESA HELPS OTHER ESA Social Action x Safari Ramadhan is one of the work programs of the SND (Social Networking Department). This activity was held on April 6th, 2023 at Musholla of the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Brawijaya University. Held in the month of Ramadan 1444 Hijriah, this activity took the form of an invitation to an orphanage to break the fast together in the context of social activities that was held specifically for ESA administrators. The parties who take part in this activity are the administrators of ESA and the orphans. This work program is expected to increase empathy and sympathy in terms of caring and cooperation for orphans. Apart from being able to strengthen the ties of friendship between ESA administrators and the orphanage, this activity is also useful for manifesting gratitude, especially in the holy month of Ramadhan. From this program, we hope that our help will be beneficial for the orphanage.

Allya Shafira Sitorus (2022)

It's quite tiring at first to adapt in a completely new environment and doing orientation activities, but it was great. I got to experience a lot of new things, meet a lot of new people and new friends, and also learn what college life is like. Overall it was quite fun.

Personally, I don't think that I've experienced any major culture shock during college, it's pretty normal for me.

I'm so grateful and happy to have many wonderful friends and learn a lot of new things. Being surrounded by nice people made college simpler for me.

However, the hardest part during college for me is living alone and being away from my family. I frequently feel homesick because I used to spend a lot of time with my family, so it is difficult for me to adjust to living alone.

Being accepted into the major I want the most is the best moment I have ever felt in 2022. The start of being a freshman at Brawijaya University also brings me many emotions. High school life and college life are completely different. The thing that makes me feel sort of confused at first is that college life requires me to be able to discover myself and set goals on my own.

I was shocked because sometimes there are many motorbikers who drive at high speed in the faculty area, so I have to be careful whenever I cross the road. Apart from that, lecturers in the Faculty of Cultural Sciences don't really think about how we dress, which is a good sign for me and others.

I felt so nervous when I entered the first-day class, where I had to make some friends with other peers. Time flies really fast. I finally found many great friends. My friends that I meet help shape the way I behave through the insight that they bring.

A mix of excited and worried. It feels good to be a freshman after spending so much time studying for the college entrance exams, but I'm also anxious about entering a new environment that I don't know anything about Yes, the class schedule is very different from high school. In high school, the class schedule is provided by the school, the schedule was packed from morning to evening. However in college, I had to make my own class schedule, so I had to manage my time and not waste it.

It's really fun meeting various kinds of people in college. The only thing I didn't like so far was the midterm test and any type of test that made me feel like I had chosen the wrong major.

Movies Recommendation Now, folks, who doesn't like movie? An escape from real world because ours does not look that interesting. Today, BAD Press with bantuan from our friend from ESA will tell you, readers, the movie that they've ever watch.

Dark, Netflix Series (Melvia Rosanti '22)

Dark is a German science-fiction thriller television series created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese. The show premiered on Netflix in December 2017 and concluded its three- season run in June 2020.

Here's my review of the series: The storyline of Dark revolves around the disappearance of two children in the small town of Winden, Germany. The show then takes viewers on a complex and interwoven journey through time, exploring the interconnected lives of four families and the secrets that bind them.

The show has a complex narrative structure that requires viewers to pay attention to the details and the various timelines. While it can be a little confusing at times, the show does an excellent job of tying everything together by the end.

The acting in Dark is superb, with each actor delivering a convincing and emotionally charged performance. Louis Hofmann, who plays Jonas Kahnwald, is particularly outstanding, conveying a sense of confusion and loss throughout the series.

The cinematography of Dark is stunning, with moody and atmospheric visuals that capture the essence of the show. The use of light and shadow is particular -ly effective, adding to the show's overall sense of dread and unease.

Overall, Dark is an excellent series that is both thought provoking and entertaining. It's a complex show that requires viewers to pay attention to the details, but the payoff is well worth the effort.

The show is well-acted, well-directed, and well-written, and it's definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of science-fiction, time travel, or just good television in general.

Mencuri Raden Saleh (Alyanabila A '22) I hope it's not too late for me to review this movie. Mencuri Raden Saleh is an Indonesian movie directed by Angga Dwimas Sasongko and released in August 2022. This heist movie is one of the movies I dare to say that it was great and beyond my expectations.

At first, I thought this movie would cringe because this is an action movie with a heist theme, which is quite doubtful looking at the previous Indonesian movies with the same theme. But unexpectedly I enjoyed this movie a lot. The plot was neat and enjoyable, especially the plot twist (this part was very very lit!!). They know how to wrap the story from beginning to end with never-ending excitement feeling.

This movie's plot was a success and brought me mixed feelings, such as happiness, anger, thrill, fear, and sadness.

But somehow I feel a little hollow in some scenes, like in the very beginning scenes in this movie. The cast's acting was not natural enough and made this part look like something was missing. And for me, the first heist' plot wasn't really exciting but still enjoyable. It's different from the second heist, this part is my favorite because the acting and the plot were more interesting and amazing.

Other than that I need to praise the action and the cinematography, the team did an astounding job in this part. The fight choreography worked really well and didn't look awkward. I like the cinematography the most, it's really great and made the movie's scenes amusing. Also, the comedy was entertaining, as expected from Indonesian movies.

Overall I'll give this movie 8.8/10, I don't have any regrets after watching this film and I'll recommend you to watch this movie. Great job for all the casts and crews.
