INTRODUCTION Welcome to Bible Verse-scapes, a new game for Bible puzzle lovers! Combining elements of crossword and sudoku puzzles, Bible Verse-scapes challenges you to fill out a puzzle grid with the appropriate words from a King James Version scripture. There aren’t any clues with the puzzle or numbers in the grid, so you’ll need to use your wits to figure out which words to place, and where exactly to put them. One approach to the puzzle is as follows: 1. Determine the lengths of the words in the puzzle grid. Count the letter boxes, then note which words in the accompanying scripture are of those lengths. The longest words will typically be most easily placed first. 2. Then, by trial and error, plug the appropriate words into the puzzle grid. How? If, for example, the grid includes a seven-letter word and there is only one seven-letter word in the given verse, you’ll know for sure where to place it. But if you have more than one seven-letter word, you’ll need to consider the intersecting words to see which ones could possibly fit the puzzle. As with a sudoku puzzle, there is only one correct solution. 3. Occasionally, you’ll be given a letter clue in the puzzle grid. This will help you to place words and get you started. If there aren’t any clues, you’re on your own. (But keep at it. . .you can figure this out!) 4. Note that some puzzles will use every word in the scripture verse, though some won’t. If a word is duplicated
in the verse, it will appear only once in the puzzle grid. And if a word in the scripture contains a hyphen or an apostrophe, ignore those marks and treat the word as a single unified whole in the puzzle grid. You may have your own methods of solving Bible Verse-scapes, and that’s great. The key is simply to have fun with the process. These puzzles will challenge your mind and refresh your spirit with the Word of God. Enjoy!
