Webster’s definition of hope is “to cherish a desire with anticipation.” In other words, yearning for something wonderful you expect to occur. Our hope in Christ is not just yearning for something wonderful, as in “I hope for a sunny beach day.” It’s a deep trust with roots that extend from the beginning of time to the infinite future. Our hope is not just the anticipation of heaven, but the expectation of a fulfilling life walking beside our Creator and best friend.

Set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.

Sometimes the most difficult challenges you face play out in your head—where a struggle to control the outcome and work out the details of life can consume you. Once removed—far away from the details—you can see things from a higher perspective. Close your eyes and push out the thoughts that try to grab you and keep you tied to the things of the world. Reach out to God and let your spirit soar. Give your concerns to Him and let Him work out the details. Rest in Him, and He’ll carry you above it all, every step of the way.
