At the heart of the Barbados Regiment (BR) is Sergeant (Sgt) Christina Clarke, who ensures seamless communication and coordination in critical operations. As a Radio Operator Specialist and the BR’s Operations and Training Sergeant, she plays a pivotal role in ensuring that troops are connected and well-trained for all missions and operations.
Her journey since 2011 has been one of resilience, teamwork, and committed service. Her progress from rigorous training to disaster relief efforts has been an experience of triumphs and trials. A particularly challenging moment in her career, both physically and mentally, was on deployment to the British Virgin Islands in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. However, during the conduct of her duties to provide food, water, and other means of relief, her lows quickly converted to highs.
Beyond traditional defence operations, Sgt Clarke proudly shares that the BDF is constantly on the frontlines and serves in various capacities, including joint operations with other security and response agencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. She further opined that despite the misconceptions about the BDF’s importance in a nation without war-type environments, her experience highlights the Force’s indispensable role in safeguarding national defence and security.
Sergeant Christina Clarke exemplifies the dedication, discipline, and selfless service that define the Barbados Defence Force's steadfast commitment to safeguarding Barbados' interests.
