THE POWER OF YOUR GENEROSITY

LAST YEAR, DONATIONS PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN MAKING THE FOLLOWING POSSIBLE FOR OUR PATIENTS, STAFF AND THE COMMUNITY:

Purchasing 10 state-of-the-art telemedicine carts that allow clinicians to communicate effectively via telemedicine and remote access for timely treatment of stroke patients across Baptist Health. These carts help reduce time to treatment, regardless of the patient's geographic location.

Funding a new clinical trial in conjunction with Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. The "DoseEscalated Spine SbRT (DESSRT) Trial for Localized Metastasis in the Spinal Column" is led by Rupesh Kotecha, M D , a radiation oncologist at Miami Cancer Institute, and Robert J Rothrock, M D , neurosurgical director of spinal oncology at Miami Neuroscience Institute The trial aims to assess the feasibility and tolerability of dose-escalated spine stereotactic body radiation therapy in patients with new or recurrent spine metastases.

Increasing staff knowledge and patient care through training and education provided by the Miami Anatomical Research Center. This subscription brought hands-on practical experience using the newest and most advanced instrumentation to give real-life exposure to many surgical problems. Fostering patient satisfaction through Visiontree Optimal Care. This modular, configurable, cloud-based software allows a seamless workflow for patient/provider paperless data management and communication

Establishing Miami Neuroscience Institute’s first Endowed Chair in Clinical Neuroscience, supporting research that provides patients with innovative treatments for brain, spine and nervous system disorders, and enables us to recruit world-class physicians that will increase the Institute’s reach and impact.

Leading The Way For Innovation

This year, the Irma and Kalman Bass Endowed Chair in Neuroscience was established, the first of its kind for Miami Neuroscience Institute. The $3 million gift commemorates the couple's 75th wedding anniversary, a beautiful tribute to their love and the impact they have made in the community.

Funds from the endowment will go towards to supporting annual clinical and basic science research projects each year; publication and statistical / analytical services; travel for students and junior faculty; travel for senior faculty for platform presentations at regional, national and international meetings; and other Institute needs.

“It is a profound honor to accept and hold this chair,” said Dr McDermott “I sincerely thank the Bass family for their extraordinary generosity in supporting neuroscience at Baptist Health We look forward to growing our research and education programs so that more patients and clinicians at the Institute can benefit.”
