THE POWER OF YOUR GENEROSITY
LAST YEAR, DONATIONS PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN MAKING THE FOLLOWING POSSIBLE FOR OUR PATIENTS, STAFF AND THE COMMUNITY:
Redesigning the interior of the emergency department waiting room, creating an area focused on patient-centered family care This new design facilitates patient flow to maximize the patient experience while waiting for results, ensuring the community benefits from reduced waiting times
Purchasing a lifesaving LUCAS 3 Chest Compressor – a highly beneficial and helpful tool that supports consistent and high-quality chest compressions during Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) when a patients’ breathing or heart stops The LUCAS 3 Chest Compressor not only improves CPR outcomes for patients, but impacts the clinicians performing CPR as well, by reducing the number of pauses and the possibility of injuries.
Purchasing Iso Tour pumps which provide cooling and air movement for patients and help wick away moisture from the skin, decreasing the risk of patients developing hospital-acquired pressure injuries.
Providing medication for underserved and/or uninsured patients in the Homestead community, allowing them to better manage preventable symptoms that could result in hospitalizations or lead to further complications if left untreated. Increasing patient satisfaction by adding a blanket warmer to the patient comfort menu to ensure patients are comfortable during their stay.
Purchasing two transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) machines that are used as an alternative to painkilling medication. These machines are used as an adjunct therapy for pain management to decrease opioid usage in patients.

Showering our dedicated healthcare workers with gratitude and appreciation throughout the year with meals and relief packages to show appreciation for the work they do each day caring for our community. Adding fetal monitoring carts used in patient triage rooms, making it easier for staff to move and decrease the risk of infection.
Acquiring an isolation cart that provides essential equipment to treat maternal hemorrhage. Obtaining a video system for laparoscopic cases, increasing image clarity and ease of use for surgeons conducting these types of procedures.
Providing 800 take-home HALO® SleepSacks to babies born at Homestead Hospital. This is an important step to ensure that families do not experience a preventable tragedy, as accidental suffocation and strangulation of infants can be largely attributed to sleep environment risks associated with loose bedding and blankets. Sleep sacks provide parents a safer and more effective way to swaddle their newborn.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Homestead Hosptial was able to host the second annual Drive-Boo Halloween event at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

More than 700 cars packed with little ghouls and goblins received treats at 30 decorated stations and enjoyed some fun, scary and superhuman costumed characters (hospital executives). This event gives community members a safe way to celebrate and enjoy character corners, a virtual costume contest and mystery zones
